Richard Wade “Rick” James Jr., 28, of Woodbine, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints, 4300 Trailridge Rd. SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52403. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Survivors include his mother Vicky Kuruc of Marion, his daughter Leena James of Woodbine, Iowa, his sister Jennette (Scott) Davidson of Marion, Iowa, two brothers John (Jeana) Miller of Central City, and Tim Miller of Cedar Rapids, grandmother Francis (Frankie) Brown of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, and grandfather Byron Fannin of Roswell, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his father Richard Wade James Sr.

Rick was born August 20, 1981 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was a welder and a member of the NRA.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.

Louis "Louie" Glen Johnson
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on December 20, 1934
Departed on May 13, 2010. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Louis “Louie” Glen Johnson, 75, of Cedar Rapids, passed away May 13, 2010 after a short illness. Services will be at 10 AM Monday in Kenwood Park United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Sunday in Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Louie is survived by his sons, Allan (Jan) Johnson of Cedar Rapids, and Thomas (Kathleen) Johnson of Kirksville, MO; four grandchildren, Nicole (Josh) Grissom, Michelle, Rebecca, and Andrew Johnson; three great-grandchildren Dillion, Calvin, and Jacob Grissom; and a sister, Joan (Craig) Detmer of Spokane, WA.

Louie was born December 20, 1934 in Cedar Rapids to Glen and Mildred (Smola) Johnson. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1953 and married Beverly Grafton on December 18, 1955. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Louie enlisted in the Navy in 1954, serving 4 years on active duty and 24 years on reserve duty. He retired in 1982 as a Chief Petty Officer.

Louie worked as an electrician and was a member of the IBEW #405 for 50 years. He was also a member of Hanford American Legion Post No 5, and Salem United Methodist Church. He recently worked as a volunteer with the “Old Farts” Electricians, fixing up flood damaged homes in Cedar Rapids. Starting in the early 1960’s he could be seen climbing the light poles at the old Veteran’s Memorial Baseball Park, maintaining and fixing the lights. He also worked part time as a security guard for Two Star Detective Agency at many University of Iowa Sporting Events.

Military honors by Hanford American Legion Post #5.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to “Old Farts” Electricians.

Robert Earl Johnson
Born in Clayton, Illinois on January 14, 1937
Departed on May 22, 2010. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Robert Earl Johnson, 73, of 4233 Pineview Dr. NE died Saturday May 22, 2010 at his home of lung cancer. Services at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Monday.
Survivors include a son, Michael (Patti), a daughter, Stacy Harbaugh all of Cedar Rapids and a sister, JoAnn Saunders of California. Bob also survived by five grandchildren, Adam, Jake, Josh, Sarah and Sean; three cousins, Gus, Rollie and Norma; his best friend, Mike Williams, several nieces and nephews and his pet Chihuahua, Carlos. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother, Gene.
Bob was born on January 14, 1937 in Clayton, Illinois the son of Herbert and Alice Alexander Johnson. He married Neva M. Capps on December 14, 1963 in Rock Island, Illinois. She died in 2004. Bob was an iron worker and worked through the Local # 89 of the Iron Worker’s Union for 36 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of Peace Christian Reformed Church and the Iron Worker’s Union. Bob was a friend of Bill W. and proudly served in the Marine Corps. He was also a member of the Old Timers Group, and enjoyed playing golf with friends, Jeff and Gary, at various golf courses in Eastern Iowa. Family was very important to Bob, especially the time he spent with his grandchildren; attending their many activities.

Richard N. Johnson
Born in Tower, Minnesota on August 26, 1930
Departed on May 24, 2010. Resided in Marion, Iowa.

Richard N. Johnson, 79, of 1100 Linden Dr., Marion, formerly of rural Solon, died Monday, May 24, 2010, in St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Services with military honors will be held at 10 AM Thursday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Phil Jorgensen of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church will officiate. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday in Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include three sons Cary of Cedar Rapids, Bryan and wife Laura of Maple Valley, Washington, and Bruce and wife Jan of Williamsburg, Iowa, three grandchildren Alicia, Kara, and Justin, and three brothers Reinhold and wife Pat of Tower, Minnesota, Eugene and wife Wanda of Amery, Wisconsin, and Lawrence and wife Debbie of Two Harbors, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother Walter.

Richard was born August 26, 1930 in Tower, Minnesota, to Walter and Theresa Trucano Johnson. He married Velva Brandt on May 18, 1957 in Dubuque, Iowa. She died February 5, 2005. He was a field engineer for IBM. He served with the US Air Force during the Korean conflict. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and bird watching.

Military honors by Marion American Legion Post 298.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Hildegard M. Jansen
Born in St. Donatus, IA on September 22, 1928
Departed on May 27, 2010. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Hildegard M. Jansen, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died at St. Luke’s Hospital, Thursday, May 27, 2010. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church by Pastor Phil Jorgensen. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Please note that a visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church after 9:30 a.m.

Hildi is survived by her husband, Cliff; children, Karen (Michael) Howard of Ames, Kathy (John) Harms of Monticello and Kurt (Donna) Jansen of Johnsburg, IL; sister, Clara Juett of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Johanna and Lois; and two brothers, Kurt and Frederick.

Hildi was born September 22, 1928 in St. Donatus to Rev. Frederick and Clara Kehren. She graduated from Monticello High School and later from Cedar Rapids Business College as a legal secretary. She married Clifford Jansen in Monticello on June 12, 1949. She was first employed at Collins Radio and later as a legal secretary for Simmons Perrine, retiring after 32 years.

Hildi was a member at Our Savior’s Lutheran church where she was actively involved in church activities. She enjoyed knitting and cooking, especially collecting recipes and cookbooks. She and Cliff enjoyed traveling and local camping in their motorhome – the Hildi Hilton. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Revere Joseph
Born in Nova Scotia on October 14, 1925

Revere “Joe” Joseph, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, May 29, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Private Graveside Services. A visitation will be held Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m.

Joe is survived by his wife, Amy of 60 years; four children, Garry Joseph of Oxford, Sam (Diane) Joseph of Spring Lake, NC, Dr. Sue Joseph of Cedar Falls, and Jean Leigh Joseph of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Sarah Lynk of Halifax, Nova Scotia and Leila Houssian of Grande Prairie, Alberta; brother, Neiff Joseph of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia; and two grandchildren, Matthew Joseph and Leah Joslyn. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Audrey McCall; brother, Wilford Joseph; and in-laws, Aleck and Negebe Sheronick.

Joe was born October 14, 1925 in Liverpool, Nova Scotia to Charles and Debbie Joseph. He married Amy Sheronick on February 24, 1951 in Rock Island, IL. He worked for Penford Products for 50 years, retiring September 2, 2002.

Memorials may be directed to the H D Youth Center or a charity of the donor’s choice.
