Kenneth "Kenny" Martin Krumbholz
Born in Cedar Rapids, IA on July 27, 1920
Departed on August 17, 2005. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Visitation: Thursday, August 18, 2005
Service: Friday, August 19, 2005
Cemetery: Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery
Kenneth Kenny Martin Krumbholz, 85, of 6325 Rockwell Dr. NE died on in his home after a sudden illness. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church at 10:00 AM on Friday. Friends may call from 4:00 8:00 PM today at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, where a vigil service will be held at 6:30 PM. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Kenny was born on July 27, 1920 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Maude and Otto Krumbholz. He attended St. Patrick's School in Cedar Rapids and graduated in 1939. Kenny was an accomplished baseball player during his prep years. After graduation, Kenny worked at the Cedar Rapids Gazette with his father until going overseas to proudly serve his country in World War II. Upon his return, he married the love of his life, Josephine Palumbo, on December 11, 1945. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this December but they have loved and supported one another for over 65 years and only Kenny's death has separated them now.
Kenny is survived by his precious wife and five devoted sons: Mike JoAnn of Crescent, Iowa, Stephen Dianne of Coralville, and John Mary, Neal Patsy, and Jeff Sue of Cedar Rapids. In addition, Kenny is survived by seven cherished grandchildren: Jennifer and Scott of Omaha, and Anthony, Nick, Cassie, Amy, and Matt of the Cedar Rapids area.
In addition, Kenny is survived by two brothers and two sisters: Barbara Jones and Wayne Norm Krumbholz of Cedar Rapids, Dale Janet Krumbholz of Des Moines, and Aileen Neyens of Solon.
Upon his return from World War II, Kenny entered the grocery store business. He and Jo owned and operated Kenny's Food Store in SW Cedar Rapids for 23 years. When large supermarket stores forced the closing of many of the small neighborhood grocery stores, he went to work at the LeFebure Corp. where he served as a press operator and a foreman until his retirement in 1985.
Kenny was well known in Cedar Rapids as a softball player and an excellent bowler. He was a member of the American Legion, and a volunteer for St. Vincent DePaul. During his senior years, he developed a love of bird watching and kept them well fed both at his 12th Ave home and now at Keystone Cedars. Both he and Jo loved watching the many varieties of finches and chickadees their feeders would attract. Every spring, the ducks seemed to magically appear for the rations of corn the Kenny would provide.
Kenny was a 'die hard' Cubs and Hawkeye fan. His quick wit and sense of humor were his trademarks known by all, but it is his compassionate and loving heart that will also be sorely missed by all those whose lives he touched. He was a wonderful, supportive father and a loving grandfather.
The family would like to extend our thanks to staff at Keystone Cedars and Mercy Hospice for allowing him the opportunity to die with grace and dignity that he lived his entire life, with the family and friends he so loved at his side.
A memorial fund will be established.
