Barbara Jean Kulish, 65, of 2640 Clark Ave, Marion, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 AM Thursday at the Antioch Christian Church in Marion. Burial will follow in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, and from 9 AM to service time on Thursday at the Church.
Surviving to honor her memory are her husband of 44 years Leonard, three sons Christopher (Cheryl) Kulish of Chaska, Minnesota, Craig (Julia) Kulish of Center Point, Iowa, and Michael (Nicky) Kulish of Castle Rock, Colorado, three brothers Roger (Gayle) Fickbohm of Wayzata, Minnesota, Tom (Audrey) Fickbohm of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Larry (Gayle Gonsior) Fickbohm of Port Wing, Wisconsin, one sister Eileen (Jim) Gebel of New Hampton, Iowa, and ten grandchildren, Nathan, Laura, David, Joshua, Samantha, Micah, Zach, Shelby, Victoria, and Sophia. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Richard Fickbohm.
Barbara was born October 30, 1944, in Algona, Iowa, to Thomas and Dorothy (Wichtendahl) Fickbohm. She married
Leonard Kulish on April 11, 1966 in Lawler, Iowa. She was a member of Antioch Christian Church. She was employed at Mercy Medical Center from 1992 to 2007, and after her retirement she volunteered at the front desk.
Barbara was a devout Christian. She was a wonderful loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She enjoyed dancing with her husband, her aerobic classes, and her friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her ten grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

George A. Krug Jr. 56, died Friday at his home that he shared with his father, George Krug, after an extended illness. Services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Daniel Krueger of Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and at the chapel after 10:30 AM on Wednesday.
George was born in Cedar Rapids and was one of four children, born to George and Betty Krug. He attended Kennedy High School graduating in 1973. He went on to Iowa State University where he received his degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1978. Following graduation he was employed by Rockwell Collins until his retirement. George enjoyed and found great satisfaction in designing and building new projects.
George is survived by his father George A. Krug of Cedar Rapids, his brother Kevin and wife Barbara of Swisher, sister Sheryl Dunston and husband Dennis of Woodland, CA, and sister Pamela and husband Richard of Cedar Rapids. George was the proud Uncle to Sean Dunston of Woodland, Chad Ruhberg of Cedar Rapids, IA, Danielle Perleberg of Milwaukee, WI, and Jenni Markt of Center Point, IA., and Great Uncle to Delainey Markt. He was preceded in death by his mother Betty, grandparents, and nephew Trent Van Lengen.
George enjoyed following sports, especially the Cyclones, baseball, music, movies, and loved spending time with his family. Upon his retirement George devoted himself to caring for his parents. George had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed laughing. He had a warm, gentle heart reaching out to those in need.

Gilbert Edward Klein

Gilbert (Gib) Edward Klein, 83, of Cedar Rapids, IA, peacefully passed away at his home on October 30th, 2010, following a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be Monday, Nov 1st,
4-7pm. at Cedar Memorial Chapel 4200 1st Ave NE.
There will be a Vigil Service at 7pm. Funeral Mass Tuesday, Nov 2nd 11am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Hiawatha. Tuesday morning visitation 1 hour prior to Mass at the church. A luncheon will follow. He will be buried at St . Francis Cemetery, Dyersville.
Gib, Klein was born July 13, 1927 to John and Clara (Schmitt) Klein. Gib grew up on a dairy farm in Rural Elk Grove Township, near Cuba City, Wisconsin. He was the youngest son of 14 children. He attended grade school at “the little red school house” close to the family farm. He then attended Cuba City High School. In 1950 he earned a B.A. degree in Philosophy from the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C.
Gilbert married
Marilyn (MaryLou) Westermeyer of Dyersville, IA on October 22th, 1952. They were blessed with 58 years of marriage, 9 children, 33 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Survivors include Marilyn, Krystal (Dewayne) Rahe, Kevin (Brenda), Michele (Paul) Ray, Dana (John) Miller, Chuck (Joni), Rhonda (Jim) Nissen, Ken (Siulin), Jon (Lisa) and Jason (Regina).
Gib and Marilyn are members of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish and former members of St. Pius X Parish. Gib served as a board member for St. Pius X Grade School and Regis High School. He owned Gib Klein Company for 30 years. In retirement, he volunteered at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
His faith and family were his most precious possessions.
We would like to thank Mercy Hospice staff and other caregivers for their love and support. In lieu of flowers, a Klein Charitable Memorial Fund has been established.
Leo S. Koutny

Leo S. Koutny, 88, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, October 29, 2010. Private services will be held at a later date. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include four daughters, Sandi Ternus (Gary) of Ankeny, Cindi Seiler (Lynn) of Ames, Debbie Ironside (Joe) and Candi Croy (Rick) all of Cedar Rapids; 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Dorothy and 4 brothers.
Leo was born on June 26, 1922 in Cedar Rapids the son of Frank G. and Mary L. (Moses) Koutny. He married
Dorothy Manak on October 9, 1943 in Cedar Rapids. Leo worked for over 37 years at Iowa Steel and Iron Works. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Leo was known for his delicious kolaches. He enjoyed gardening, photography and his computer. He loved socializing and spending time with family and his many friends.
Memorial donations in Leo's honor may be directed to the family.
Andris E. Kaupins

Andris (Andy) Kaupins, 59, of Monroe, Iowa, died suddenly at his home November 5, 2010. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 13, 2010, at 11 am in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 8300 C Avenue, Marion, Iowa. Rev. Perry Fruhling will officiate at the service.
Andy was born February 7, 1951, in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Rock Valley, Iowa high school. He received a B.A. in psychology from Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa, and an M.A. degree in library science from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, Iowa.
He served high school libraries at various Iowa locations. They include Le Mars, Indianola, Davis County (Bloomfield), and PCM (Monroe). He was also librarian in Kaplan University Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Andy enjoyed listening to music, especially pop tunes from the 1960’s and 1970’s. He often entered radio trivia contests and won often. He played tennis and won a tournament in Bloomfield.
He loved history and kept current with the latest pop culture and enjoyed visits to historical sights.
Andy is survived by his parents Rev and Mrs. Alfred and Skaidrite Kaupins of Cedar Rapids; brother Dr. Gundars Kaupins and his wife Debby and nephew Kyle in Boise, Idaho; stepchildren Stephanie Anderson and Geoff Farrell; two step-children Michael and Ryan: and a good friend Linda Shatto.
He is greatly missed by his family and friends. Jesus proclaimed, “I am the resurrection and the life.” (John 11:23)

Lillian Bertha King, 78, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Monday, November 29, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 3, 2010 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. David Miller will officiate with burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends my call one hour before the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband Norman King of Cedar Rapids; children Alan Loomis of Hills, Larry (Jodie) King of Cedar Rapids, and Bonnie (Jeff) Barcus of Massachusetts; 3 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; one brother Carl (Pauline) Petsel; and four sisters Viola Ellis, Doloris (Charles) Thomas, Nancy (Carl) Morning, and Mary (Errol) Starling.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lenard and Erna Petsel.
Lillian was born May 1, 1932 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Lenard and Erna (Dittburner) Petsel. Lillian married
Norman Keith King on April 25, 1971 in the Oak Grove Christian Church. She graduated form Roosevelt Senior High School. She was employed by Rockwell Collins in Coralville and retired after 25 years of service.
