William Gene “Bill” Lewellen, 84, a resident of Summit Pointe Senior Living Community of Marion, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Memorial services will be held at 3 PM Monday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be from 2 PM to service time on Monday. Inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include two sisters: Shirley (Robert) Bishop of Terre Haute, Indiana, and Suzanne Zarley of Altoona, Iowa. Nieces and nephews include Ronald (Marsha) Danielson and Steven (Lori) Danielson of Terre Haute, Indiana, Barbara Chapman of Indianapolis, Indiana, Janet (Patrick) Coogan of Bettendorf, Iowa, Scott Zarley of Killeen, Texas, and Kristin Zarley of Frederick, Maryland, as well as several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Bill was born January 29, 1926 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Clifford and Rowena Lewellen. Following graduation from McKinley High School, he served during WW II as a Staff Sgt in General Patton’s 3rd Army. He then attended Iowa State College majoring in horticulture and married
Beatrice LaVonne Veatch on September 11, 1949 in Webster City, Iowa. They opened Lewellen Florist as original tenants in Town and Country Shopping Center in 1956, retiring after 40 years. He was a member of the Rotary Club.

Meda Leudeman, 92, died at Northbrook Manor Care Center, Sunday, November 7, 2010. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jonathan Offt. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Survivors include her children, Richard (Betty) Luedeman of Cedar Rapids and Linda (Vel) McDaniel of Gulf Shores, AL; sister, Mary Wilson of Watsonville, CA; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard in 2005, and brothers, Glen and Harold Thomason.
Meda was born October 15, 1918 in Marion to Arthur and Rolinda Thomason. She married
Leonard Luedeman on October 15, 1936. Meda loved family get-togethers and was a fantastic cook who will be remembered for her potato soup. She and Leonard enjoyed squaredancing and being Texan snowbirds. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Meda was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank the staff of Silver Pines and Northbrook Care Center for their loving care.

Gerald Lisk

Gerald Lisk, 94, of Cedar Rapids died Sunday, November 7, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids.
No services are planned. Inurnment will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home assisted the family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Nelle; Son, Robert Lisk and Grandson, Franklin Gerald Lisk, both of Cedar Rapids and special family friends, Debbie and Sara Hoopes of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister (Helen) and brother (Clyde).
Gerald Lisk was born October 31, 1916 in Tioga, IA the son of Elmer & Hazel (Mendenhall) Lisk. He served during World War II in the Army Air Force. On October 2, 1956, Gerald married
Nelle Gosnell in Chicago, IL. Gerald was a carpenter/millright for many years and served as financial secretary for Carpenters & Joiners of America Local #308 for over 10 years.

Mary Wilma Lawrence, 87, of 1650 Koehler Dr. NW, #145, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2010, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Harlan Gillespie of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church will officiate. Inurnment in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Columbarium. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Surviving to honor her memory are her husband of over 63 years Keith; three children, Rhonda K. (Arthur Rosett) Lawrence of Los Angeles, California, Emilie Lawrence (Dean) Thompson of Decorah, Iowa, and Kent Lawrence of San Francisco, California; three grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah) Thompson, Erik Thompson, and Kathryn Lawrence; and two sisters, Barbara Haven of Loveland, Colorado, and Norma Vandeven of Dallas, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Leroy and Ora Forker Stock, and a daughter Jennifer Lynn.
Born November 26, 1923 in Colfax, Iowa, Mary graduated third in her class from Colfax High School in 1941. Prior to her marriage to Keith Lawrence at the First Methodist Church on June 8, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa, she worked as a stenographer at A.Y. McDonald's Plumbing & Heating and secretary at the Westminster Presbyterian Church. Mary and Keith lived in several Midwestern towns, finally settling in Cedar Rapids in 1963. Before retiring in 1987 she was employed as a sales associate for twenty-three years at Armstrong’s Department Store. A devoted wife and mother, Mary was a long-time active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, where she participated in UMW and Kum Double, tirelessly organized Thrift Mart and oversaw the altar flower ministry. She was also a member of the LI Chapter of P.E.O.

Robert J. Lnenicka, 88, of 1103 Cedar Woods Rd. fell asleep on Sunday December 5, 2010 at the Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford, Florida. Services at 11:00 AM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call after 10:00 AM. Burial at Campbell Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Bob was the beloved husband of Darlene for 65 years, he is also survived by two sons, Dennis (Mary) of West Olive, Michigan and Steven of Cedar Rapids, one daughter, Gloria Lnenicka of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Rudolph of Cedar Rapids, Leonard of Center Point and a sister Angeline Brown of Cedar Rapids He is also survived by five grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren an many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Wilma and brother Edwin.
Bob was born on July 23, 1922 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Edward and Agnes Svoboda Lnenicka. He married
Darlene R. Baxa on November 8, 1945 in Cedar Rapids. Bob was a life long farmer in the Linn County areas, retiring in the mid 80s. He was an Elder with the Christian Church of Jehovah’s Witness, and a 4-H leader. He and Darlene loved to travel; going to all 50 states as well as Europe and Africa. He enjoyed caring for his farm animals, fishing and the time spent with his beloved family and many friends. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in battle during WWII as a member of the US Army in the European Theater.
His hope was a resurrection back to earth where he will be with his loved ones once again.
