Patricia 'Pat' M. Matel 5829 Timber Creek Rd. NE died Thursday, May 16, 2002 at her home after a long illness. Services at 11 AM on Monday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Neil Manternach will officiate. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 3 to 6 PM on Sunday where there will be a vigil service at 5 PM. Friends may also call at the Chapel after 10 AM on Monday.
Survivors include her husband, James, three sons, Frank and his wife, Cathy of Wausau, Wis., Paul of Iowa City, Mark of Cedar Rapids, a daughter, Jacquelyn Ellison of Washington, IA., her mother, Martha Sadowski of Milwaukee, Wis., four sisters, Betty Rusin of FL., Martha Murray of NC., Dorothy Sanders, Barbara Sadowski and a brother, Frank Sadowski all of Milwaukee, Wis. Also survived by three grandchildren, Samantha Ellison, Holly and Matthew Matel. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and James Sadowski.
Pat was born on March 15, 1940 in Milwaukee, Wis. She married
James F. Matel on Oct. 11, 1958 in Plattsburg, NY. Pat was a homemaker and a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She was an avid golfer; participating in many of the lady leagues. She enjoyed her grandchildren and wintering with her husband in Texas. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Pat's name.

Clarence Mainor, 77, of 3844 Mt. Vernon Rd. SE, died Sunday, June 30, 2002, in his home following a sudden illness. Memorial services with Military honors at 11 AM Wednesday in First Baptist Church-Church of the Brethren with Rev. Jerry Springston officiating. Inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife Jeanne, a son Gary of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and a brother Ray of Wisconsin.
Also survived by five grandchildren, Sara, Michael, Paige, Faith, and Kathryn, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and three brothers.
Clarence was born March 12, 1925 in Jacksonville, Florida to James and Eldridge Parnell Mainor. He married
Jeanne P. Russett on May 1, 1948 in Cedar Rapids. He worked for Iowa Electric Light and Power from 1948 to 1984. He served with the US Marine Corps during WW II in the Pacific. He was a member of First Baptist Church-Church of the Brethren. He loved to fish and spend time with his grandchildren and his nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church-Church of the Brethren or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Ronald Lee Mahany, 44, of 3133 Adirondack Dr. NE passed away Wednesday, July 10, after a stoic and determined fight with cancer. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Monday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Rev. Robert Burkhart will officiate. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 2-5 pm on Sunday. Inurnment will be at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery.
Ron is survived by a wife, Pamela, and step-son, Brandon Carr; father, Gene, and step-mother, Clarise of Cedar Rapids; brother, Richard Ellen Mahany of Swisher; sisters, Linda Neilsen of Rockwell City, Iowa, Jan Mahany of Austin, Texas; step-sisters, Diane Tucker of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, Debbie Tucker of Minneapolis, Minnesota, niece and nephews, Erica, Jesse, Seth and Kyle, in-laws, Bob and Shirley Thompson of Cedar Rapids. He also leaves behind many dear cousins, aunts and uncles.
His beloved mother, Elizabeth Silletto Mahany, preceded Ron in death. She passed away in 1968.
Ron stated about his family; 'I have had my family, parents and siblings and their children rally around me, revealing tremendous bonds of love and strength, which I hope they will maintain across the distances that often separate them. Life's end is bitter sweet, comes with few regrets, but many hopes for those I care for.'

Geraldine E. Main, 71, of 405 W. Willman, Hiawatha, died Sunday, September 22, 2002, in ST. Luke's Hospital following a long illness. Services at 1 PM Thursday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Survivors include her husband Harold, two sons Gordon of Cedar Rapids, Tom and wife Valerie of Saginaw, Michigan, a daughter Laurie Whightsil and husband Lynn of Lampasas, Texas, two brothers George Liddle and wife Ardis of Sun City, California, and Arthur Liddle and wife Sharon of Costa Mesa, California, a sister Jennifer 'June' Liddle of Cedar Rapids, eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one nephew Jeffrey Liddle.
Geraldine was born April 26, 1931 in Estherville, Iowa, to Arthur Lee and Elmira McDonald Liddle. She married
Harold L. Main on September 8, 1963 in Hiawatha. She worked as a accountant for Cherry Burrell prior to her marriage. She was an Avid cubs fan and dedicated her life to her family.

Rayman Andrew Neilsen, 83, of Urbana, formerly of Waubeek, died Tuesday, February 25, 2003, in the McAllen Texas Medical Center following a heart attack. Services at 3 PM Tuesday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Marty Schuhmacher of the Living Water United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 3:30 PM to 8 PM on Monday and at the chapel after 2:30 PM on Tuesday.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith Heister and husband Morgan, and Delores Neilsen all of Waubeek, a son Jim Neilsen of Minneapolis, three brothers Robert of Eugene, Oregon, Ronnie of Center Point, and Harold of Marion, a sister Marie Brown of Anamosa, four grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers Marvin and Dick.
Rayman was born the son of Andrew and Eldeva Stone Neilsen on August 25, 1919, in Marion, Iowa. He married
Margaret Gage on April 7th, 1941 in Cedar Rapids. She died July 20, 1998. He was a construction worker most of his life. He loved to fish and travel to new places and to make new friends and visit with old friends as well. His winter home was in Texas. He was a wonderful, loving father and husband and will me greatly missed by all those lives he touched.

Vernon, Iowa, a brother William Compton of Omaha, Nebraska, a sister Carol White of Elgin, Illinois, and 7 grandchildren, Andrew and EmmaLee Lester, Bretton, Bryant, and Brandon Gilgan-Meeuwsen, and Bryce and Brittany Duckett. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Kathryn Petersen.
Jean Ellen was born June 30, 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska to Luther and Alice Davis Compton. She married
Jack W. Messenger on June 5, 1953 in Omaha, Nebraska. They divorced. She was a member of Noelridge Baptist Church, a volunteer for Aid To Women, and a volunteer and teacher for A.W.A.N.A. Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. She liked to travel, do cross word puzzles, and listen to music. She collected Turtles and Angels, and enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and listening to Christian Radio programs.
Jean Ellen loved her 'three beautiful daughters', family and friends, unconditionally, and touched all our lives with love and laughter.

Hazel Zoe McDermott, 79, of 4027 Cox Ave. NW, died Saturday, October 26, 2002, in her home from cancer. Services at 10 AM Wednesday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Ed Powers of the Asbury United Methodist Church will officiate. Inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Survivors include her husband Thomas, two daughters Corinne Sterns and husband Everett of Cedar Rapids, and Judith Murray and husband Stephen of Littleton, Colorado;. Three grandchildren, Jason Sterns and wife Patti of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Jodie Stapley and husband Brian of Cedar Rapids, and Samantha Murray of Littleton, Colorado; two great-grandchildren, Creighton Tippets and Zoe Fiona Sterns both of Ft. Collins, Colorado; and a sister-in-law Bernice Tischhauser, a brother-in-law Warren Strait, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Ethel Tischhauser and Alice Booth and a brother Lester Tischhauser.
Hazel was born May 20, 1923 in Specht's Ferry, Iowa, to Matthias and Emma Anna Hoch Tischhauser. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High in 1940 and attended Bayless Business College in Dubuque. She married
Thomas C. McDermott on December 29, 1945 in Cedar Rapids. Hazel was a bookkeeper for Wolf's Clothing, and Smulekoff's furniture, and was an executive secretary for the Cedar Rapids Community Schools for 20 years retiring in 1985. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and Hanford American Legion Post No 5 Auxiliary. Hazel's passion was GOLF. She was a member of several women's golfing associations including Twin Pines Ladies Golf Association and the Ellis Park Ladies Golf League. Hazel and Tom wintered in Arizona the past 17 years, and Hazel had a hole-in-one on February 19, 2002 at the Pepperwood Golf Course in Tempe, Arizona, on Hole Number 2. Hazel also enjoyed bingo, cards, shuffle boarding and bowling, and volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital.
Hazel was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
