Allan Earl Miller, 76, 439 Lindale Dr., Marion died Sunday, December 19, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital following a long illness. Memorial Service: 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by The Rev. Nick Longworth. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Miller of Cedar Rapids and Scott Miller of Wichita, KS; a daughter, Gina Nelson of Indian Trail, NC; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Pat Allard of Cedar Rapids and Kay Shadduck of Sarasota, FL.
He was preceded in death by his wife Louis, his parents, a brother Edward, and a sister Marilyn Weldon.
Allan was born June 3, 1928 in Cedar Rapids the son of Earl H. and Ellen A. Hayes Miller. He married
Louise Smothers on February 26, 1950 in Dubuque. Allan worked in the Maintenance department for Altorfer Machinery Company for 11 years. He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Allan was a friend of Bill W. for 22 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and the Korean Conflict.

Florence G. Mather, 102, a resident of the Manor Care in Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at the care center following a short illness. Services at 9:30 AM Saturday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. William Harnish will officiate. Graveside services and interment at 1:30 PM Saturday in the West Union cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel beginning at 9 AM Saturday. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include her only son Gordon Craft and wife Tammi of Iowa City, a sister Hazel Torson of Cedar Rapids, a brother Gene Torson and wife Eunice of Ames, granddaughters Keli Walt and husband Gregg of Hiawatha, and Kristi Sulentic and husband David of Cedar Rapids, great-grandchildren, Trent Mohwinkle, Colton Kuddes, Erika and Jenna Sulentic, Nathan and Trevor Walt. She was preceded in death by 6 brothers Glen, Arthur, Roy, Archie, Harley, and Milford Torson, and 2 sisters Lena Harris and Merle Torson.
Florence was born March 20, 1903 in West Union, Iowa to Thomas and Evelena Torson. She graduated from West Union High School and Attended Coe College where she earned her teaching certificate. She taught elementary school for 19 years at Hawkeye, Iowa, and several other schools including Prairie elementary in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. She married
Kermit Craft on June 30, 1925 in West Union. He died March 24, 1949. She married
Charles Mather on November 29, 1957 in Keokuk, Iowa. He died December 19, 1973.
Florence's son and granddaughters were her pride and joy. She was a dear, sweet lady who will be missed by her family.

Marian J. Odeen, 87, of 1070 – 28th Street, Marion, died at home, Wednesday, August 13, 2008, after a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Christ Episcopal Church by the Rev. William Pugliese. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Survivors include three sons, David Edna Odeen of Anamosa, Harold Geraldine Odeen of Ely, and Harry Lee Linda Odeen of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Susie Marcel Sebetka of Norway, Jeannie Gary Brislawn of Center Point, and Cathie Odeen of Anamosa; two brothers, David Cummings of Fairview, and Don Cummings of Marion; three sisters, Nelda Bettes of Guthrie, OK, Carrie Hart of Tucson, AZ, and Margaret Peiffer of Springville; 20 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; a brother, Richard Williams; a sister, Nancy Cummings; and two grandchildren, Susan Marie and Roger . Marian was born on April 18, 1921 in Fairview, Iowa. She married
Harry E. Odeen on September 3, 1938 on the way home from the Iowa State Fair. She and Harry formed the Odeen Band longer ago than her children can remember, leading on the piano, even after Harry's death in 1998. She had previously worked at Killian's Department Store and for over 20 years at Collins Radio. She will be remembered most of all as Mother and Grandmother. Marian liked to go mushrooming, fishing, and loved the times she and her family spent at their cabin on Lake Delhi. The family wants give special thanks to her sister, Carrie Hart for her loving care during Marian's illness. They also want to thank St. Luke's Hospice and Delmar and Bernice Maiden for their friendship and support during the last years as well as her beautician, Anita who picked Marian up every Friday to have her hair done during the last ten years. Instead of flowers, memorials may be sent to a charity of the donor's choice.

Ruth A. Nading, 72, of Marion passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2013 from Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 15 from 5 to 8 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Service will be held on Saturday at 11 AM at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.
Ruth Anne Nading was born on March 17, 1940 to John and Vera Stephens May in Nortonville, Kansas. She was united in marriage to Russell Nading on May 20, 1961 in Eudora, Kansas. Because Russ served 20 years in the Air Force, they frequently moved and Ruth was the strength behind each move. She made sure all the things involved in moving the family were taken care of ahead of time. She enjoyed plants and collecting angels. Ruth was an avid reader and especially loved using her new Kindle. Ruth was a member of Al-Anon for 35 years. She was a great and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Ruth will always be remembered for putting others first and not only showing us how to live but in her final days showing us how to die. Of all the angels she collected, God now has one of them in heaven.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Russ; sons, Randall (Sue), Ryland (LuAnne), and Matthew; grandchildren, Nicholas, Rachael, Samuel, Zachary, Joshua Nading; brothers, Charles May of Lawrence, KS; Bob May of Groves, TX; sisters, Donna Courter and Mera (LeRoy) Mize both of Oskaloosa, KS.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers; and 4 sisters.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Special thanks to Dr. Carter, Jennifer Weis, Dr. O, JP4E Nurses, everyone in the surgical ICU unit, and all the staff and technicians at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for their kindness and help they gave to Ruth.

Marvin L. Melsha Sr., 82, of 429 Crimson Drive NE, died Saturday, May 7, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a lengthy illness. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Marian; two sons, Marvin Jr. Mary Melsha of Lake Wales, FL, and Steven Jan Melsha of Des Moines; four grandchildren, Mark Michelle Melsha of Holiday, FL, Scott Sherri Melsha of Orting WA, Elizabeth Tom Condon of Chicago, IL, and Caroline Branko Miros of Prairie Village, KS; one great-grandchild, Thomas Joseph Condon; a sister, Carol Bernard Upah of Belle Plaine; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Colony of Albany, OR, and Joan Nosek of Cedar Rapids.
Marvin was born to Alvin and Stella Melsha on September 18, 1923 in Cedar Rapids. Marv was an experienced WWII Navy veteran serving on the Lexington in the Pacific until it was sunk in the Battle of the Coral Sea. He was reassigned to the Battleship Alabama, which fought in both the Atlantic and Pacific, earning Marv ten medals with eleven Battle Stars. He was in the U S Navy Band aboard ship and in peacetime stationed at Terminal Island, CA. Marv worked for Rockwell-Collins for 33 ? years, retiring in 1982. He started in the model shop and finished as a methods engineer in the Procedures Branch.
Marv really enjoyed his family and his hobbies of traveling, fishing, hunting, and flying model airplanes.
He was a member of the VFW Post #788, WFL Lodge 14 and Czech Heritage Foundation. He also was a member of First Baptist Church Church of the Brethren.

Marv will be greatly missed by all who came to know him through the years. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
Irwin L. Nelson

Irwin L. Nelson, 86, 1416 30th St. NE died Monday, June 21, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center following a long illness. Service: 10:00 A.M. Friday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Survivors include his wife Marjorie; two daughters, Karen Bolger and husband James of Cedar Falls and Sandra Camacho and husband Lawrence of Palmdale, CA; and three grandchildren, J.B. Bolger, Justin Bolger, and LauraBeth Camacho.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son; Phil L. Nelson in 1998.
Irwin was born May 28, 1918 in Ellsworth the son of Wier and Ella Thompson Nelson. He was a graduate of Franklin High School, received his B.A. degree from Coe College, and received his M.A. degree from the University of Iowa. He married
Marjorie E. Greer on May 31, 1942 in Cedar Rapids. He taught at Wilson and Franklin Schools, was Principal at McKinley Middle School and Harding Middle School, and was the Audio-Visual Coordinator at Washington High School, before his retirement in 1982. Irwin was the voice at Kingston Stadium for 37 years. Irwin was a member of Noelridge Park Christian Church, the American Legion Hanford Post #5, the Lion's Club, Crescent Masonic Lodge #25, the Cedar Rapids Consistory, El Kahir Shrine, the Reserve Officers Association, and the Cedar Rapids Retired School Personnel. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II, and retired from the U.S. Army Reserves at the rank of full Colonel.
