Dorothy Jean Mc Calley, 78, a resident of Heritage Nursing & Rehab, died there Thursday September 15, 2005 following an extended illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Turner East Funeral Home & Crematory by the Rev. Dr. Rose Taul of Central Park Presbyterian Church. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Dennis Shelton of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Helen DeNeui-Ferguson of Fulton, MO, Ruth Bob Naaktgeboren of Shellsburg, and Betty Achenbach of Hiawatha; two grandchildren, Patrick Shelton Tracey Wilson, of Virginia and Jessica Shelton Greg Heims of Ely; two great grandchildren, Derek Drexler and Brenden Heims; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley, an infant son, her parents, and special friend, Donald Ring.
Dorothy was born May 11, 1927 in Cedar Rapids to A. W. and Ruth Newell VanVleck. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1945. She married
Wiley McCalley in Cedar Rapids in 1948. He died in 1953. She retired from Linn County Social Services.
She was a member of, the Eagles Club, Rebekkah's Lodge, American Legion Auxiliary, and a lifetime member of the V. F.W. Auxiliary and Central Park Presbyterian Church. She was an Iowa Hawkeye fan and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and traveling.
A memorial fund has been established.

Myrtle Eva McGinty, 95, a resident of Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center, died there Sunday, April 2, 2006, following a short illness. Services at 3 PM Wednesday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. William Harnish will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday and at the chapel after 2:30 PM on Wednesday.
Survivors include a son Gerry of Massachusetts, a daughter Shirley Kimes of Lexington, Kentucky, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, a former daughter in law Jean Schuttloffel of Cedar Rapids, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a son Ed.
Myrtle was born January 20, 1911 in Thornburg, Iowa to Daniel and Effa Gladwin Young. She married
Clarence R. McGinty on June 27, 1928 in Iowa City. Myrtle has worked at Wilson's, Killian's, Craemer's, and Armstrong's for many years. She was a former member of Trinity United Methodist church.

Edward George Nieman, 86, of Roseville, California, died at home on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 after a long illness. Memorial Mass: 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Jude Catholic Church by the Rev. Don Czapla with a rosary to be recited at 8:40 a.m. Burial: De Smet cemetery, De Smet, South Dakota. Local arrangements by Turner West Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife Millie; five sons, Jim Colleen Nieman of Cedar Rapids, John Sing Fun Nieman of Tai Pei, Taiwan, Chuck Christina Nieman of Ft. Wayne, IN, Phil Jody Nieman of Palatine, IL, and Tim Ann Nieman of Los Gatos, CA; three daughters, Mary Copper of Las Vegas, NV, Sue Jeff Scotten of Granite Bay, CA, and Kris Dom DeMaria of Jacksonville, OR.; his sister, Josephine Gilbertson; fourteen grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Edward was preceded in death by his first wife Jeane in 1954, and a daughter Ardis.

Survivors include her husband Lloyd; three daughters, Lynn Bob Richards of Mechanicsville, and children, Robby and Bryan, Janie Bill Townsend of Fayetteville, NC, and children, Angie Young and Kara Vaughn and Wendy Bill Voss of Fairfax, and children, Jon and Joe Burg; a son Steven Rowray of Cape Cod, MA.; and eleven great grandchildren.
Wanda was preceded in death by a grandson Ira "Mark" Richards; three brothers, Russell, Darrell, and Morris.
Wanda was born May 4, 1926 in Chelsea to Dow and Ethel Froundtfeltter McQueen. She married
Lloyd Rowray on October 28, 1943 in Cedar Rapids.

Hazel D. Mentzer, 83, of Northbrook Manor Care Center and formely of 3719 Northwood Dr. NE, died April 3, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital following a long illness. Memorial Services 1 P.M. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Rev. Marilyn Buchanan of Buffalo United Methodist Church. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held at Cedar Memorial Family Center and Library. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Surviving are her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lois and Ken Duncan of Manchester, IA; sister-in-laws, Irene Mentzer of Germantown, WI, and Millie Mentzer of Chicago, IL; special friends, Jim and Alice Hagerman, and their children Nikki, Kelly, Michael and Mitchell; and eight nieces and nephews.
Hazel was preceded in death by Loyd L. Mentzer, her husband of sixty years.
Hazel was born September 8, 1922 in Toddville, IA to Ray and Micha Newman Bowers. She married
Loyd Mentzer on July 3, 1945 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She graduated from Toddville High School. Hazel worked for FMC Corp. for 35 years.

M. Jane McNamara, 88, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico formerly of Anamosa died Thursday, April 6, 2006 in Rio Rancho following an extended illness. A Celebration of Life visitation is Tuesday, May 30, 2006 from 1:30 to 3:30 at the Lawrence Community Center in Anamosa. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Brickley and husband Ed Langley of Rio Rancho, NM and Mary Jane Greenawald and husband Tom of West Des Moines; four grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry, two brothers and two sisters.
Jane was born September 20, 1917 in Ft. Wayne, IN the daughter of John and Leah Stout Swaidner. She married
Henry D. McNamara on September 14, 1940 in Des Moines. She was the secretary at Maquoketa Valley Rural Electric COOP for 30 years.
