Dale H. Phelps, 77, of 205 40th St. Dr. S.E., died Sunday at St. Lukes Hospital following complications of heart disease. Services: 1 p.m. Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Rev. William Harnish. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, and at the Chapel of Memories after noon on Thursday.
Survivors are his son, James Phelps and wife Susan of Toddville and a daughter, Kathy Phelps Hogan and husband Dick of Cedar Rapids, a sister, Naomi Wehde of Tipton, two brothers, Gene Phelps and Max Phelps, both of Tipton and two grandchildren, Jason Phelps and Kelly Hogan.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Carrie Etta Stoeber.
Dale was born May 20, 1925 near Alburnett to James and Esther Sharpless Phelps and was married
to Marilyn Macon in 1949. They were later divorced. He then was married
to Joan Wilson in 1974. They were also divorced. He was a graduate of Tipton High School in 1943 where he was involved with music having played the tuba.
He had been in both radio and television sales, having worked for KCRG and WMT in Cedar Rapids. He had been employed at Kenwood House Interiors for 7 years prior to his retirement.
He did volunteer work with St. Lukes Hospital and worked with the Freedom Festival in Cedar Rapids. He also volunteered at the Witwer Senior Center. He was an avid Hawkeye fan and loved all types of music.

Henry Ervin Roush, 85, of 2915 Ravenwood Terrace NW, formerly of West Des Moines, died in his home Sunday, May 23, 2004 after a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Survivors include his wife Grace; a daughter Debra Mike Kriegermeier of Cedar Rapids; three grandsons, Chad, Corey and Eric Kriegermeier, all of Cedar Rapids; two great grandsons, Alan and Connor Kriegermeier; a brother John Roush of Arvada, CO.; and several nieces and nephews.
Born October 28, 1918 in Craig, CO to Otis and Mary Roush, he graduated from Valley Junction High School in West Des Moines. He served in the Navy during WWII. . Henry was united in marriage to Evelyn Roush in 1953 and to Grace Roush in 1990. Henry owned his own company, AIM Company for over 30 years. He enjoyed working and tinkering.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Mary, his first wife, Evelyn, and a sister-in-law Catherine of Arvada, CO.

Doris L. Nelson

Doris L. Nelson, 73, of Springville, died Sunday, December 12, 2004, in her home surrounded by her loving family, following a short illness. Services at 1 PM Friday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday and at the chapel after 12:30 PM on Friday.
Survivors include her husband Walter, their children, Steven and wife Lynda of Cedar Rapids, David and wife Belinda of Marion, Pamela Parmater and husband Rick of Vinton, Scott and wife Nicole of Marion, and Paula of Springville, her brother Lester White of Wilmington, Massachusetts, her sister Jacqueline White of West Rutland, Vermont, eleven grandchildren, Jared, Shawn, Josh, Zachary, Benjamin, Travis, Matthew, Seth, Stephanie, Jacob, and Caleb, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Arthur White.
Doris was born August 8, 1931 in Rutland, Vermont to Carl and Gladys Wood White. She married
Walter J. Nelson on July 9, 1955 in Rutland, Vermont. Doris was a licensed practical nurse, a day care provider, and a housekeeper at Mercy Medical Center. She was a member of the Springville United Methodist Church, had been a Boy Scout Den Mother, and a Campfire Leader. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan.
Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Reuben I. Olson

Reuben I. Olson, 61, of 5421 16th Ave. SW. died Thursday June 5, 2008 at St. Lukes Hospital after a sudden illness. Memorial services at 11 AM on Monday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where there will also be military rites. Rev. Lori Wunder will officiate. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three sons, Eric and his wife, Michelle Pihlaja-Olson, and Michael all of Chicago, Illinois and Andrew, who is a student at UNLV. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Dayne and Emmitt and his former wives, Irene Olson of Chicago and Helen Arnold of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Reuben was born on Nov. 6, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Reuben and Emma Olson. He married
Irene Bodnar in Chicago and was married
for 11 years before their divorce. He then married
Helen Arnold in Chicago and was married
for 23 years before their divorce.
Reuben was a police officer in Chicago for 13 years before moving to Cedar Rapids. He was the co-owner and operator for the Hawkeye Nut Company in Cedar Rapids for 4 years and later was the maitre d' at Amalgamated Spirits and Provisions. Most recently he was a fitness instructor at the M.A. C. for the past 10 years and also worked in sales at Cassill Motors. He proudly served in the army during the Vietnam War as a military policeman. Reuben enjoyed all types of guns, watching movies, and especially the time spent with his family and many many friends. Geraldine E. Moneypenny, 80, of 2309 Fairlane Dr. NE, died June 16, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital following an extended illness. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. Parker Knoll will officiate. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at Turner West Funeral Home Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 12 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Survivors include her husband Robert; a son Steven of Hiawatha, a sister Norma Sanchez of Metairie, LA, ; and a brother Harold Mitchell of Cedar Rapids.
Also surviving are a daughter-in-law Lonie; a brother-in-law, Bill; grandchildren, Sonya and Stephanie Moneypenny; and nephews Jeff Mitchell and Jared Sanchez.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister in law Joyce Mitchell.
Geraldine Elizabeth Moneypenny was born August 24, 1925, the beloved daughter of Charles and Anna Reed Mitchell. She married
Robert E. Moneypenny on April 1, 1943 in Marion, Iowa. She worked for Kennedy High School and retired after 20 years of service.

Lawrence E. "Honk" Meyer, 90, of 136 36th Ave. SW. died Sunday, June 18, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center after a short illness. Services at 11 AM on Wed. at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Survivors include two sons, Lawrence and his wife, Charmon, of Durant and Robert and his wife, Dr. Donna, of Mt. Vernon, MO. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Keri Buddy Jones, David Ekaterina Meyer, Melissa, Sara, and Mindy Meyer, Heath Michele Kusel and Heather Kusel, 9 great grandchildren, 3 nieces, Sharon Garland Groom, Sheri Jim Comried, and Denise Bob Gandy, three nephews, James Leigh Meyer, Gerald Rasmussen and Emmett Gay Rasmussen. He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis and a grandchild, Stacey Kusel.
Honk was born on Oct. 31, 1915 in Grundy Center, the son of George and Carrie Wald Meyer. He married
June M. Barr on Dec. 23, 1939 in Cedar Rapids. She died in 2004. Honk was a postal carrier and retired from the post office after more than 25 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Hanford Post No. 5, VFW Post No. 788, N.A.L.C. and proudly served in the Army during WWII. Honk was a devoted family man and will be greatly missed by his friends and beloved family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Foundation in Honk's name.
