Departed on August 13, 2012. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Service: Friday, August 17, 2012
Margie L. Nelson, 90, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2012, at Manor Care Nursing Home. A memorial service will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 17, 2012.

She is survived by her daughter Janis (Cliff) Smith of Austin, Arkansas; daughter-in- law Yvonne Nelson of Cedar Rapids; devoted caregiver and best friend Rick Rickard of Cedar Rapids; 9 grand children; 13 great grand children; 4 great great grandchildren; and many loving family members.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Elizabeth (Becicka) Dice; her husband John Nelson; son Jon Nelson; a daughter Lynn Dake; and a brother Richard Dice.

Margie was born on August 25, 1921 in Goodland Twp., Minnesota, the daughter of Leslie and Elizabeth (Becicka) Dice. She married John Nelson on July 22, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois. Margie graduated from Roosevelt High School with the class of 1940, and still attended yearly class reunions as of last summer. She was a member of The Creation Methodist Church and a lover of music and nature. It was her mission to feed the geese and ducks at Ellis Park.

Margie will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend; with a strong character, sense of humor and good heart. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Memorials may be directed to Margie’s family, who will allocate them to several charities in her memory.

Sarah E. Meroshek
Born on December 21, 1912
Departed on July 3, 2006. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Sarah E. Meroshek, 93, of Linn Manor formerly of 900 Blairs Ferry Rd, Marion died Monday, July 3, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Services: 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 2PM to 4PM at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Del Bear will officiate.
Survivors include a daughter, Louise Sellner Ed of Marion; a son, Richard L. Newman of El Paso, TX; eight grandchildren, Debbie Drake Steve, Shelley Chapman Ross and Tom Sellner all of Marion, Susan Newman, Tamara Newman, Debra Newman, Peggy Kohlhammer and Christie Kohlhammer all of Texas; and several great grandchildren including, Chelsea Fox, Derek Sedrel, Rachel Chapman and Quinn Drake all of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank in 2004, two brothers, and two sisters.
Sarah was born December 21, 1912 in Springville the daughter of Louis and Nora Waterhouse Kinkead. She married Frank J. Meroshek on June 26, 1955 in Iowa City. She had worked for Quaker Oats for 27 years in the packaging department.
Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.

Donald W. McClleland
Born in Springville, IA on December 9, 1930
Departed on July 16, 2006. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Donald W. McClelland, 75, of 1030 Memorial Drive SE. formerly of Newhall, died Sunday, July 16, 2006 at his home after a brief illness. Services at 11 AM on Wed. at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial with military rites at the Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday.
Survivors include two daughters, Debra Dennis Grimm of La Porte City and Rona Marovec and her significant other, Rod Zummak of Waterloo, three sisters, Dorothy Dewey Dircks of Clarence, Shirley Owen Niermeyer of Cedar Rapids and Connie Chris Chrisman of Center Point. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Donald Grimm and his significant other, Josephine of La Porte City, Dawn Nate Jordan, Kiya and Shayla Marovec all of Waterloo and Maggie Zummak of La Porte City, one great grandchild, Mariah Scott and a sister in law, Arlene McClelland of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas and a brother, Robert.
Don was born on Dec. 9, 1930 in Springville, the son of Thomas and Elsie Spalding McClelland. He married Frances B. Corbin on Oct. 2, 1954 in New Brunswick, Canada. She died in 2000. Don worked at Hubbard Milling Co. and retired from there after 34 years of service. Don enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, gardening, playing cards and especially family gatherings. He proudly served in the Air force during the Korean War. Don will be greatly missed by his many friends and beloved family. A memorial fund has been established in Don's memory. Military rites by American Legion Hanford Post NO. 5.

James G. Mehring
Born on June 21, 1947
Departed on October 9, 2006. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

James G. Mehring, 59, 1508 Blanche Dr. NW died Monday, October 9, 2006 at his home following a long illness. Memorial Services: 10:30 A.M Saturday at All Saints Catholic Church with a time for friends to gather at 9:30 A.M. The Rev. David O'Connor will officiate. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Surviving in addition to his wife Wilma are three sons, Leon Mehring-Cruz and wife Christie, Seth Mehring and Micah Mehring all of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Natasha, Christopher and Leeanne; his parents, Leon and Vera Mehring of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, David Mehring Pam and Leon Mehring Vicki all of Cedar Rapids and Stephen Mehring Melissa of Virginia; a sister, Denise VanderSanden Jerry of Cedar Rapids; and numerous nieces and nephews.
James was born June 21, 1947 in Butte, Montana the son of Leon and Vera Handshaw Mehring. He married Wilma Arruda on February 15, 1981 in Hawaii. Jim was the business manager for many years, retiring in 2003. Jim was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. He loved gardening, and spending time with his family.
Jim's family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Mercy, the Nursing Staff at Mercy Dialysis, and to Jolynn Glanzer, M.D.
A memorial fund has been established.

Edgar F. Rutz
Born in Morristown, MN on July 28, 1910
Departed on June 29, 2004. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Edgar F. Rutz, 93, of Silver Pines Assisted Living and Retirement Community, went to be with his Savior, Tuesday, June 29, 2004 after a short illness. A Celebration of His Life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church by the Revs. Parker Knoll and Jonathan Offt. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at Turner West Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Immediate survivors include two sons, Lowell Connie Rutz of Cedar Rapids, and Rev. Wayne Carol Rutz of New Haven, IN; a sister, Lilly Rutz of Fairbault, MN; and three grandchildren, Jennifer Jason Grant of Waverly, and Chad and Jason Rutz of Cedar Rapids.

Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, Selma and Paula; two brothers, Arthur and Martin; and an infant sister, Agatha.

Born July 28, 1910 in Morristown, MN, to Otto and Emma Radant Rutz, Edgar married Selma Pommeranz on September 14, 1935 in Fairbault, MN. She died in 1975. He then married Paula Detlefsen on April 16, 1977 in Cedar Rapids. She died in 1990.

Edgar worked for Wilson and Company for over 42 years, retiring in 1974 as Chief Engineer of the Cedar Rapids plant. He then worked for Phelans as a picture framer. Edgar was a 50 year member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as elder, Sunday School Superintendent, usher, and various other roles to support the church. He volunteered for the American Red Cross, Brendelwood, in the Adult Day Care unit, delivered the "Trinity Tape Ministry" to shut-ins, and transported groups of volunteers to the Veterans Hospital. Edgar's sole purpose in life could be stated as "To always serve the Lord, and His fellow man". Edgar lived his life centered around his Lord! He shared the love of Jesus with everyone. Especially, he shared his faith with his children and grandchildren whom he dearly loved. A joy for him was to worship with his church family. He will be greatly missed by many whose lives he touched. His prayer and last words were "See you in Heaven".

Jeanne Ocenosak
Born in Frackville, PA on November 28, 1945
Departed on February 19, 2010. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Memorial
Jeanne M. (Lukavsky) Ocenosak 64, of 2744 Tower Dr. died Friday, February 19, 2010, in Mercy Medical Center, after courageously battling a long illness. Memorial services will be held at 1 PM Monday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Deacon Lanny Peterson of St. Pius X Catholic Church will officiate. Inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may register at the chapel after noon on Monday. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include her husband and partner in life Don Ocenosak, her mother Alice Bresnock, 11 stepchildren, and numerous grand and great-grandchildren. She will be terribly missed and forever held in the heart of her daughter Megan, Megan’s four children, and her beloved dog Duke. She was preceded in death by her father Joseph Bresnock, and her brother Joseph Bresnock Jr.

Jeanne was a valued employee for 25 years at United Parcel Service. She loved life, her family, laughter, and gardening. Each flower that blooms in her garden will remind us all of the beauty and joy she held in her heart and spread to all who knew her.

Jeanne’s family wishes a very special thank you to the staffs at the Dialysis Center and Mercy Medical Center for their tender care of Jeanne.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
