Jean Lorraine Matheny, 74, a resident of Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center died Saturday, October 14, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. Services: 9:00 A.M. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4PM to 8PM. The Rev. David King of Oakland Church of the Nazarene will officiate.
Surviving in addition to her husband James are two daughters, Dawn Burian Mark of Cedar Rapids and Lisa Ann Phelps Ron of Olathe, KS; three sons, Guy W. Boots Brenda of Lee Summit, MO, Robert P. Boots Mary of Newhall and Dale Matheny Raven of Cedar Rapids; two step-sons, James Matheny Jr. of Fresno, CA and Steve Matheny of Glendale, AZ; two step-daughters, Anita Mounts Steve of Cruthers, CA and Carolyn West Parry of Memphis, TN; 23 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
Jean was born October 17, 1931 in Cottonport, LA the daughter of Calvin and Edna Jackson Gaspard. She married
James H. Matheny, Sr. on April 17, 1972 in Cedar Rapids. Jean was a member of Oakland Church of the Nazarene.
A memorial fund has been established.
Helen Muriel Ozburn

Helen M. Ozburn, 92, of Brighton, Colorado, formerly of Marion, Iowa, died December 24, 2007, at Platte Valley Hospital following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Squaw Creek Baptist Church. Pastor Paul Taylor will be officiating. Friends may call Saturday at the church after 1:00 PM. Helen will be laid to rest next to her husband Clement Bud in Springville, cemetery.
Survivors include her children Marvin R. Darlene Ozburn of Marion, Iowa, Steve D. Ozburn of Englewood, CO, and Colleen M. Leo Dowd of Brighton, CO; daughter in law Dolly D. Clem Ozburn of Galesville, WI; grandchildren Elaine Yanda of Cedar Rapids, Kurt Ozburn of Marion, Chip Kara Graw Ozburn of Chapel Hill, NC, and Dianah Mark Colburn of Galesville, WI; great grandchildren Chuck and Jenna Yanda of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clement Bud, son Clement Ozz, brothers Ralph Ralston, Carroll Dutch Ralston; sisters Eleanor Carpenter, Mary Johnson, Ruth Tucker and Orpha Thomas.
Helen Muriel Ozburn was born October 28, 1915 to Minnie and Ernest Ralston of Center Point, Iowa. She married
Clement Bud in Marion, Iowa. She resided in Springville until moving to Marion after retirement to be near their son Marvin and his family. Upon the death of her husband she moved to Onalaska, WI to be near her son Clem Ozz and his family until his death. For the last 2 years she has resided in Brighton, CO near her son Steve and daughter Colleen.
It was with great sadness to Helen that she was preceded in death by many of her dear friends whom she missed so much throughout the years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to Squaw Creek Baptist Church, or directed to the family.
Virginia Cavin Sigmund Myers

Virginia Cavin Sigmund Myers: 94, of Cottage Grove Place, died early Monday morning, October 16 at St. Luke's Hospital following a brief illness. Memorial services will be held in the Spring of 2007. Inurnment will be in Mt. Clark cemetery in Central City, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to the charity of their choice in Virginia's memory.
Virginia was born February 29, 1912 in Columbus Junction, Iowa, the daughter of O.M Cavin and Myrtle Fisher Cavin. She graduated from Coe College in 1933. Virginia married
James B. Sigmund on February 1, 1936. Her husband of 48 years, Jim Sigmund, died on December 16, 1983. She married
Kenneth E. Myers in 1990. He died in 2001. Virginia spent many years in Cedar Rapids working in various forms of social work, starting during the depths of the Depression. She was first employed as a case worker for the Linn County Relief Department but transferred to the American Red Cross when World War II broke out. She was supervisor of the Home Service Dept for Linn County. After the war she worked for Coe College raising funds, and in 1954 became Director of Linn County American Cancer Society for 20 years.
Virginia and Jim had one son, Jay G. Sigmund II, born December 6, 1937. He died of cancer March 31, 1999 leaving her daughter-in-law, Maureen, and two granddaughters Sara Sigmund Brame Douglas of Scarborough, Maine and Amy Sigmund O'Donnell David of Portsmouth, Virginia, who became her wonderful & loving caretakers. Also survived by great-grandchildren J. Nathan Brame and Declan J. O'Donnell. Caring nieces & nephews: Jack Treynor Betsy, Jane Luff, Robert Winter Jane, Ellen Jean Green Frank, Susan Brown Robert, and Alice Richeda Don.
Her life was so warmly supported not only by her beloved granddaughters, but also enriched by her caring nieces and nephews and their families. Her life was so cheered by their many kindnesses and those of her special friends, Cathy Roach and Jill Underwood.
Virginia appreciated the arts, loved reading and a social game of bridge. She was a long time member of the Peoples Unitarian-Universalist Church where she was a former board member. She also served in that capacity for the former Public Health Nursing Associate and the former Children's Home now Tanager Place. She was a member of JI Chapter, PEO.
Miles H. Neff

Miles H. Neff, 88, of 345 Marion Blvd, Marion, died Wednesday, May 18, 2005 in St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Monday in St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial with military honors in St. John's cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Sunday with a vigil service beginning at 6 PM.
Survivors include three sons Edward and wife Linda, Terry and wife Rosie, and Allen and friend Shirley, two daughters Delores Christiansen and husband Peter, and Bobbi Hajek and husband David all of Cedar Rapids, fifteen grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother Rev. Alfred Neff, and sister Lucy Neff.
Miles was born April 3, 1917 in North English, Iowa, to Frank and Mary Ryan Neff.
He married
Anna D. Phillip on January 10, 1942 in Cedar Rapids. She died December 4, 2002. Miles was founder, owner, and operator of the Neff Metal Products and Millwright Service in Marion. He retired in 1993. He was a charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and a member of VFW Post No 788. He served in the Army Air Corps during WW II. He traveled extensively and enjoyed his work.
Instead of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Mercy or to the American Heart Association.

Miriam Rogers Overley of Cedar Rapids died Friday February 26, 2010. Funeral services at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home where friends may call after 10 AM on Tuesday. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery.
Miriam was born to Joel E. and Inez Rogers in Houston, TX on September 21, 1911. Miriam was preceded in death by her husband Charles A. Overley a chemist with Swift & Company.
Surviving are children Janice Overley-Olsen, Joanne Mores, Charlene Longino, and Charles A. Overley, JR.
Miriam was a life long teacher in the Chicago area ending her career at Faulkner School for Girls. Miriam taught chemistry, math, and home economics.
Miriam was a graduate of Coe College. She then obtained her Masters degree at Kansas State where she was a member of Kappa Delta.
Miriam and Charles were blessed with 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Maria Lynn Murry: 43, of 513 Gwendolyn Drive NE, died suddenly Sunday October 22 at her home. A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 27 at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Rev. Fredrich Mellberg officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. today and at the chapel after 2:30 on Friday. The casket will be closed prior to the service.
Maria is survived by three children, two daughters, Anna Kilpatrick and Holly Hasenbank and a son, Clay Hasenbank all of Cedar Rapids, her parents, Paul and Bonita Murry of Costa Rica and her brother Shawn Murry and wife Jennifer of Denver, Colorado.
Maria was born October 8, 1963 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of Paul and Bonita Gessner Murry. She graduated from Wayzata Senior High School in Minneapolis and attended the University of Minnesota. Maria was most recently employed by Pointe Builders in business development. Maria was active in many community functions, including Junior Achievement, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the History Center and the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women. She also served as past chair of St. Luke's Auxiliary's Festival of Trees. Maria enjoyed gardening, skiing, the ocean and just being outdoors however her greatest joy was her children and family. She was a creative; caring and joyous giving soul that always went above and beyond for others.
