Bernice Boesenberg Olson, 56, of 1804 Lake Manor Rd NE, Solon, died August 10, 2006 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following an aneurysm. Funeral Service: 3 PM Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jonathan Offt and Rev. Parker Knoll. Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 PM at Turner West Funeral Home and after 2 PM Monday at the church. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery.
Survivors include husband Guy V. Olson, her mother and step-father Irene Noel Siems of Middle Amana, sister Barbara Peden and husband Larry, brother Wayne Boesenberg and wife Gail, brother Gary Boesenberg and wife Jane all of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Henry W. Boesenberg, Jr.
Bernice Irene Boesenberg Olson was born December 23, 1949 the beloved daughter of Henry and Irene Mumm Boesenberg Jr. She married
Guy Van Olson on October 16, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. She was an avid volunteer, a major blood donor, donating over 14 gallons during her lifetime. She enjoyed trapshooting, fishing, and greatly enjoyed her wood-burning fireplace in her home with Guy. One of the most important things in her life was being the cheerleader, coach, photographer, and timekeeper for her husband Guy, brother Gary and sister in law Jane during their competing in Triathlons. Bernice was a loving wife, daughter, sister, and friend and will be greatly missed by all.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in honor on Bernice.
Frances L. Newman

Frances Keefer Menzner Niles Newman, 91, of 411 Crimson Drive NE, died Thursday, April 06, 2006, at ManorCare Health Services from complications of uterine cancer. The body has been cremated. The family will greet friends on Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. for a Celebration of Life Gathering at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. A Private Family Burial will be held at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery at a later date.
Survivors include her husband of 24 years, Dean; a daughter Carol fianc?, Larry Kremer Niles; a son, Stephen Pamela Menzner; five grandchildren, Bryan Herrold, Jeffrey Mickey Herrold, Ann Matt Kiesling, Jonathan fianc? Jennifer Walters Menzner, and Emily Nicholas Sternowski; three stepchildren, Craig Newman, Cheryl Rufus Roper, Brian Sharon Newman; two step grandchildren, Cory Jennifer Newman, and Casey Newman; one great grandchild; and three step great grandchildren.
Frances was born October 19, 1914 on a farm in Linn County to Frederick and Lillian Frazee Keefer. After moving to Cedar Rapids she attended old Washington High School and Coe College. She married
Gilbert Menzner in 1937. He died in 1944 at Marshalltown. Frances returned to Cedar Rapids with their two sons, Frederick and Stephen and in 1946 married
Leighton Niles. He died in 1978. In 1982, she married
Dean E. Newman in Phoenix, Arizona and they subsequently moved to Cedar Rapids.
She was known for her pleasant appearance and demeanor. Frances worked at the cosmetic counters at Killian's and Armstrong's Department Stores and later as a representative with Avon Products. She enjoyed her friends and family and her time at her and Leighton's cabin at Lake Delhi and her retirement in Mesa, Arizona.
Frances was preceded in death by her son, Frederick, her parents, her husbands, Gilbert and Leighton, and her sister, Ruth Wolff.
The family wishes to thank the staff at ManorCare Health Services for the outstanding care and friendships they provided "Fran" the last year of her life.

Mary Jo Meyer, 68, 1282 10th Street, Marion died Thursday, May 24, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital following a long illness. Services: 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Surviving in addition to her husband Dale are two sons, Steven L. Willard Sr. Diana of Marion and Arthur J. Willard Linda of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Penny S. Sanford of Marion; a stepson, Daniel Meyer-Huerter of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Steven Jr., Jennifer, Anthony, Trandon, Khetyn, Josh and Yanush; three sisters, Constance McKey Glen of Huntington, TX, Linda Martin Dean of Anamosa and Sally Burmeister Lamoyne of Clarence; and a brother, Dennis Albaugh Guy of Anamosa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son Leonard Jr.
Mary Jo was born May 18, 1939 in Iowa City the daughter of Arthur and Dorothy Reeve Albaugh. She married
Dale A. Meyer on January 11, 1974 in Cedar Rapids. Mary Jo was a computer operator for the Cedar Rapids Police Department for 38 years. She was a member of the Eagles Club, the Marion American Legion Auxiliary and First United Methodist Church.

Dean Melvin Mollenhauer, 79, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday morning June 3, 2007 at the VA Medical Center in Knoxville following a long illness. Visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home today from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Rev. Rick Gail of First Assembly of God officiating. Graveside services to follow at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery with the Cedar Rapids Police Honor Guard.
Dean is survived by his wife of 59 years, Donna, four daughters, Donna Kinney and husband John of Cedar Rapids, Mary R. Malley and husband William of Keota, Dena L. Mora of Keota, and Tina A. Bennett and husband Dave of Lancaster, California, four sons, Carey D. Mollenhauer and wife Karen of Marion, Douglas J. Mollenhauer and wife Pam of Ankeny, Iowa, Thomas A. Mollenhauer of Brighton, Iowa and Todd M. Mollenhauer and wife Pamela of Cedar Rapids, a brother Ivan Mollenhauer and wife Loretta of Marion and a sister Lois Rieke of Wataga, Texas. Dean has 21 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Glen Mollenhauer, formerly of Marion, Leo Mollenhauer of San Diego, California, and Robert Mollenhauer of Hiawatha.
Dean was born June 19, 1927 in rural Marion, Iowa to John and Bernice Romig Mollenhauer. He was the 5th in a family of 5 boys and one girl. He served with United States Army in the Philippines during World War II. He married
Donna Mae Nelson February 21, 1948 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids and raised a family of 8 children, 4 boys and 4 girls. He was a member of the Cedar Rapids Police Protective Association, American Legion Hanford Post #5, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Iowa Association of Chiefs of Police and Peace Officers, Inc. Dean was a 29-year veteran of the Cedar Rapids Police Department, retiring April 2, 1984. After retirement he served as the security officer at Peoples and Norwest Bank and worked security for Collins Plaza Hotel in Cedar Rapids.
Dean dearly loved his family and was a dedicated public servant. He loved the little babies. One could see the joy in his eyes every time he held a baby in his arms. He worked night and day to provide for his growing family. He proudly served as a police officer for the city of Cedar Rapids. He loved his wife Donna, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with all his heart. He enjoyed nature, gardening and animals, especially dogs and horses. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him and whose lives he touched.

Fred G. Merritt, 96, of 6801 Alburnett Rd. in Marion died Monday, June 18, 2007 at his home after a short illness. Services at 11 AM on Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Marion. Rev. Howard Chapman will officiate. Private family burial at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday and at the Church after 10:30 Am on Wed.
Survivors include a daughter, Verna Larry Stutt of Marion, a son, William Lorna Merritt of Springville, a sister, Ruth Maxson of Duarte, California and a brother, Earl of Marion. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, Raymond and 8 brothers and sisters.
Fred was born on Oct. 4, 1910 in Linn County, the son of Frank and Rose Mitchell Merritt. He married
Velma L. Hollenbeck on Aug. 13, 1936 in Cedar Rapids. She died in 2004. Fred farmed for many years near Springville, Monticello and Marion. He was also a machinist at Rockwell-Collins for 19 years, retiring in 1976. Fred was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marion and the Collins Bowling Team. He enjoyed saw sharpening, wood working and his cats. Fred was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the First Presbyterian Church in Marion.
Margaret Ann O'Donoghue

Margaret “Ann" O’Donoghue, 75, of Cedar Rapids died on May 28, 2009 following a brief illness.
Survivors include her husband, Michael; a daughter Nicole and husband, Barry Carter; and one grandson, Kevin. Her parents preceded her in death.
Ann was born April 17, 1934, in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Jesse E. and May (Weeks) Marshall. On July 28, 1956, she married
Michael O’Donoghue in Sioux City. Ann graduated from Central High School in Sioux City, 1952 and attended Cornell College, Mt. Vernon, Iowa and Briar Cliff College in Sioux City. Ann was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Cedar Rapids. Ann’s love of the arts, lead her to be a long time volunteer at the Cedar Rapids Art Center (museum). She was also active for many years decorating Brucemore for the Christmas season.
Ann’s other love was her home at Lake Okoboji were many special times were spent with family and friends.
Memorials may be sent to the Jesse E. Marshall Boys club of Sioux City.
Inurnment will be at a later date at Memorial Gardens in Sioux City, IA.
