Rose Morrison, 80, of Center Point, died at Willow Gardens Care Center, Sunday, September 19, 2010. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by the Rev. William Harnish. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.

Rose is survived by sons, Larry Morrison of Center Point and Patrick Morrison, of Urbana; grandchildren, Kimm (John) Breen, Jeep Steenhoek, and Shawn Etten; great grandchildren, Jace, Quincy, Kourtney, Kaleb, Zane, and Shyenne; sister, Beverly Forrester of Cedar Rapids; and brother, Tom Camp of Ogden, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orlan; daughter, Nancy; sisters, Leona Thome and Olive Norman; and brothers, Oliver “Shorty" Camp and Charles Camp.

Rose was born on December 2, 1929 in Cedar Rapids to Oliver and Leona Polton Camp. She married Orlan J. Morrison on April 26, 1949 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He died in 1997.

Rose worked for several years at nursing homes, most recently at Benton County Home in Vinton. She was a wonderful caregiver and cook and could put a banquet together at a moments notice. She loved to make the holidays special for her grandchildren.

Rose loved flower gardening. She was a member of the Solos Together Club.

Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Maxine K. McNeill
Born in Green Island, Iowa on December 23, 1920
Departed on September 11, 2010. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Maxine K. McNeill, 89, of 193 Jacolyn Dr. NW died Saturday September 11, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center after an extended illness. Services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Mt. Calvary cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday.

Survivors include four daughters, Dianne (Larry) Wagner of Danville, California, Barb (Fran) Henderson of Robins, Marcia Kelly of Marshalltown and Theresa (Patrick) Needham of Aurora, Illinois, two sons, James McNeill and his partner Kent of Cedar Rapids and Rick (Linda) Clarkson of Oro Valley, Arizona. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Fred, one brother and three sisters.

Maxine was born on December 23, 1920 in Green Island, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Bertha Klemme Jones. She married Fred Clarkson in 1940 in Muscatine. He died in 1958. She later married James McNeill in 1959 in Cedar Rapids. Maxine was a beautician at Killian's for several years and later retired from Rockwell-Collins. She enjoyed cooking, baking and especially the time she spent with her friends and beloved family.

A memorial fund has been established in Maxine’s name.

Evelyna L. Nace
Born in Victor, IA on August 22, 1924
Departed on February 7, 2009. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Evelyna L. Nace, 84, a resident of Northbrook Manor, died Saturday February 7, 2009 in Manor Care Nursing & Rehab following a short illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday February 11, at St. Pius X Catholic Church by the Rev. Donald Klein. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 on Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home where a vigil service will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Survivors include her children, Beverly S. (Frank) Glaser of Hiawatha, Connie J. (Ron) Mercer of Hiawatha and Diana L. Sindelar of Hiawatha, 7 grandchildren, Stacie (Scott) Hull, Jenni (Tony) Semelroth, Keri Nace Mercer, Dan Mercer, Becky (Randy) Cullen, Laura Sindelar and Ben Sindelar, 12 great grandchildren, Alexis, Riley, Braydon, Faith, Liberty, Tony Jr., Brittany, Brandon, Rachel, Jerimy, Chase and Brian. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Margaret Hartin, and Katherine Murtha, a brother, Edward Saey, a son in law, Ron Mercer and a great grandson, Dakota Glaser.

Evelyna was born August 22, 1924 in Victor, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Florence Saey. She was employed at St. Luke’s Hospital as a ward secretary for over 25 years when she retired and a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Evelyna was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed. She enjoyed embroidery, word find, puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established by the family.

Gunnar Norris Munson
Born in Cedar Rapids on March 4, 1958
Departed on August 24, 2010. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

We lost a great husband, father, son, brother, “papa", and friend on August 24, 2010, when Gunnar Norris Munson died peacefully from heart failure. Gunnar was surrounded by his loving family and friends at St. Luke’s Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 28, 2010 at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Rev. David Beckman will officiate. Friends may call from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, on Friday, August 27, 2010 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Surviving are his wife Jean; his children Gavin, Grant (Emily Flowergarden), and Tracy all of Cedar Rapids; his grandson Gunnar “Owen" Munson; his father Robert “Bob" Munson; his siblings Ole (Julie) of Arizona, Signe (John Henderson) of Cedar Rapids, and Erik (Becky) of Cedar Rapids; aunts, Virginia Svestka of Indiana, Viva DeMerritt of Arizona, Marjorie Perdue of Washington; uncle, Dick (Pat) Perdue of Florida; his first wife Janet (Don Angotti); Aunt Pat and Grandma Rose; sister-in-law Rose (Glen) Hartz; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Esther “June" Munson.

Gunnar was born March 4, 1958 in Cedar Rapids the son of Robert and Esther “June" (Perdue) Munson. He attended Cedar Rapids Community Schools and graduated from Cedar Rapids Washington High School. He married Janet Stoneking on February 10, 1979 at Immaculate Conception Church in Cedar Rapids. They had 3 beloved children together. They later divorced. He married Jean Bley on July 19, 1996 at St. Pius X Church in Cedar Rapids. He was employed as the Central Regional Sales Manager for WattStopper.

Gunnar was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed golf, and was a wonderful host who never knew a stranger. He cherished his time at his cabin in Clayton with family and friends, where the plates were always full, the conversation was always lively and love was always abundant.

In his continued spirit of giving to others, Gunnar was an organ donor.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Alice L. Overton
Born in Purleigh, Essex, England on December 23, 1922
Departed on February 24, 2013. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Alice L. Overton, 90, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Northbrook Manor Care Center. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Alice Lillian was born on December 23, 1922 to Wilfred and Lilian Irons in Purleigh, Essex, England. She served in the British Army during WWII. Alice served in the Tower of London, among other places. She was united in marriage to Charles W. Overton on July 30, 1945 in Brussels, Belgium. They later divorced.

She is survived by her son, Trevor (Gloria) Overton of Cedar Rapids; granddaughters, Erin (DJ) Fleege of Center Point; Hannah, Lauren, and Danielle Overton all of Cedar Rapids.

Alice was preceded in death by her son, Michael.

Jack Simon Phillips Sr.
Born in Hitman, Iowa on July 10, 1924
Departed on August 25, 2003. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Service: Thursday, August 28, 2003

Jack Simon Phillips Sr. 79, of 1709 Arizona Ave, NE, died Monday, August 25, 2003, in St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Services at 1 PM Thursday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Kay Slocum of First Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial with military rites in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday and at the chapel after 12:30 PM on Thursday.
Survivors include his wife Alma, a son Jack Jr. and wife Connie, daughter Deborah Jorgensen, and three granddaughters Erica and Brittany Phillips and Kate Marie Jorgensen all of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother James, and four sisters Agnes Dunkin, Kathryn Claxton, and Jean Hunt, and Audrey Edgerly.
Jack was born July 10, 1924 in Hitman, Iowa, to Simon and Jean Cuthbert Phillips. He graduated from Hitman High School. He served with the US Navy as a Cook aboard the USS Berrien during WW II. He married Alma L. Tukua on October 25, 1947 in Cedar Rapids. He retired in 1993 after 40 years as meat department manager for Witwer Farm Market and HyVee. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, VFW Post No 788, American Legion Hanford Post No 5, Mizpah Masonic Lodge, and Cedar Rapids Consistory.
Jack will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his granddaughters.
Military Rites by VFW Post No 788.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
