Michael Rex Pena, 59, of 415 A Avenue NW, died at the University of Iowa Hospital, Friday, September 10, 2004, after a long illness. Services: 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Turner West Funeral Home by the Rev. Steven Rosonke. Burial: Mt. Calvary cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. where a rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Survivors include his children, Dawn Marie Michael Muniz, Letha Ann Joseph Pfeifer, and Michael Ray Estela Pena, all of Phoenix, AZ; Todd Kaylor of Kansas City, Kansas, TJ Kaylor, Troy Kaylor, Joseph Pena, and Angel Pena, all of Cedar Rapids; sixteen grandchildren; his mother, Mildred Stearns of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, Raymond Kathy Pena, Mark Jennifer Stearns, and Ronald Kelly Stearns, all of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Margaret Meier and Rita Stearns, both of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Michael was preceded in death by his daughter Michelle Elizabeth Pena.
Born March 20, 1945 in Cedar Rapids to Leonides and Mildred Hernandez Pena, Michael married
Ida Rose Lindeken there in September, 1963. He owned and operated "Cool Cuts" where he was a barber for over 40 years. Michael loved riding his motorcycle and spending time with his grandchildren and family, and interacting with his clients.

Willard Channing Petrie

Willard Channing Petrie, 82, of Keystone Cedars died there on Sunday, September 12, 2004, following a short illness. Services at 11 AM Wednesday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial with military honors in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday, and at the Chapel after 10 AM on Wednesday.
Born May 20, 1922 in Chilton, Wisconsin to Jost Channing and Marion Edna Weeks Petrie. Willard spent his youth in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, and graduated from Elkhorn High School in 1940. He then studied at the University of Wisconsin Madison for a time before enlisting in the Army Air Corp. Lieutenant Petrie served his nation during WW II training B-17 bomber pilots for combat. He married
his high school sweetheart, Doris Jones, December 24, 1944 in Columbus, Ohio, where he was stationed. After the war they returned to Madison where Willard completed his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering.
In September 1949 Willard and Doris left Wisconsin to move to Cedar Rapids where Willard began a 40+-year career as an electrical engineer with Collins Radio Company, now Rockwell Collins. He worked on numerous projects of importance to the advancement of the avionics industry.
Willard had a lifelong passion for photography. He obtained his first camera at age 13 and soon after set up his own darkroom. As a youth he photographed life around Elkhorn. In later years Willard and his cameras were fixtures at his daughters' horse shows, and his grandchildren's ball games, dance recitals, and Special Olympics. He was a member of the Rockwell Retirees, and Tau Beta Pi Fraternity. He leaves behind a precious legacy of photo albums and videotapes filled with memories of family gatherings and activities.
Doris, his wife of 57 years, preceded Willard in death in 2002. He will be very much missed by his three daughters, Joan Jim Van Berkum, Pat Alan Jensen, and Diane Petrie Bruce Buell, as well as his grandchildren, Jamie Kate Van Berkum, Jennifer Van Berkum, Joanna Van Berkum, and two great-grandchildren, Beau Casey and Paige Channing Van Berkum. Also surviving Willard are his sister, Lois Darrell Brellenthin and brother Donald Petrie of Wisconsin.
Willard had a very keen sense of humor and was a patient and generous man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Kenneth C. Pazour, 49. of 1937 Cach Lane SW died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004 at the University of Iowa Hospitals after a short illness. Services at 1 PM on Sat. at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Survivors include his wife, Virginia, a son, Cory and his fianc?, Jessica, his mother, Shirley Pazour and two sisters, Terry Veenstra and Deb Clair and her husband, Steve, all of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by two aunts, Joann Houser of Grand Island, NE., Linda Decker and her husband, Earl of Cedar Rapids two uncles, Robert Pazour and wife, Dolores of Cedar rapids and Gary Cartano and his wife, Lucy of CA. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
Ken was born on Nov. 8, 1955 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Charles and Shirley Cartano Pazour. He married
Virginia A. Thompson on Dec. 4, 1982 in Cedar Rapids. Ken was a C.C. Machinist at Evergreen Packaging for 28 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Local No. 1024. He enjoyed motorcycles, car racing and watching sports. Ken was a wonderful husband, father, son and friend. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Ken's name.
Dennis Lee Price

Dennis Lee Price, 55, of Germantown, Wisconsin, formerly of Marion, died Tuesday, December 14, 2004, in Community Memorial Hospital, Menomonie, Wisc. after a short illness with lung cancer. Memorial services with military rites will be held at 3 PM Saturday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids, with inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may register at the chapel after 2:30 PM on Saturday.
Survivors include a son Brett Price of Denver, Colorado, a daughter Angela Palmer and husband Drew of Hiawatha, four sisters Sharon Walker and husband Sondoe of Marion, Rose Grove of Marion, Delores Lyon and husband Alan of North Carolina, Doris Harris and husband Bob of Cedar Rapids, Ia., brother Dave Price and wife Christy of St. Joseph, Missouri, and one grandson Carter Palmer. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dennis was born September 29, 1949 in Cedar Rapids to David and Dorothy Price. He graduated from Linn Mar High school and was an outstanding athlete all four years. He served 4 years in the US Navy. He worked at Cryovac and Lefebure in Cedar Rapids, and then was transferred to Wisconsin. He was working for Space Savers at the time of his death.
Dennis fought a courageous battle and suffered much his last few days on earth but took it all with great faith and character. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, and uncle to many nieces and nephews and friends. All that knew Dennis loved him, he will be remembered and missed by all.

Gene E. Quandt, 65, of 2938 Oakland Rd NE died Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at Mercy Medical Center after a sudden illness. Services at 9 AM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Ken Glandorf will officiate. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery where there will also be military rites. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca, a son, Patrick and his wife, Brenda of Coggon, a daughter, Pam Caldwell of Laurens, six brothers, David of Lino Lakes, MN., Gary, Robert and Herbert all of Denison, Richard of Sioux City, Steven of Garden City, Kan. and a sister, Christine Blum of Denison. Also survived by two grandchildren.
Gene was born on Aug. 13, 1936 in Denison and graduated from High School there. He was the son of Herbert and Ann Martens Quandt. He married
Rebecca S. Elam on Sept. 4, 1981 in Marion. Gene was an electrician for forty years and worked at Nelson Electric. He was a member of IBEW Local 405, was on the board of directors of the Iowa O.H.V., president of the Dirt Surfers A.T.V. Club for 9 years and served in the Air Force. Gene was a kind and wonderful person. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. A memorial fund has been established in Gene's name. Military rites by American Legion Hanford Post No. 5.

Ye Won Park, 7, of 4611 1st Avenue SW, died at home, Monday, May 09, 2005, as a result of a brain tumor. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday At Immanuel Baptist Church by the Rev. Ben Choi of the Korean Baptist Church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, today from 4 to 8 p.m.
Ye Won is survived by her parents, Byung and Hyo Jung Park; a sister Suzi at home; her grandparents, Dongpal Park and Soonhee Jung of Cedar Rapids, and Chunkun Park and Okja Kim of AnYang, South Korea; an aunt and uncle, Hyun Sook and Tae Y Lee of Robins; and several cousins living in Cedar Rapids and AnYang, South Korea.
Ye Won was born July 1, 1997 in AnYang, South Korea, to Byung and Hyo Jung Park. She and her family moved to Iowa in May, 1998. She Attended the "We Teach 2" day Care Center in 2000 and became a kindergartner at Cleveland Elementary School in Mrs. Haars' class in August, 2002. She started to study at Coolidge Elementary School in 2003. She was a first grader in Miss Lodge's class and a second grader in Mrs. Meyer's class.
Ye Won liked to eat ravioli, pizza, and most of all, egg rolls!. Her favorite character was Hello Kitty. She loved to go shopping for clothes, accessories, and cosmetics, and drawing friends and animals. She wrote stories, letters and did journaling.
Karen Lee Pawlowski

Karen Lee Pawlowski, 55, 109 Boca Chica Dr. Hiawatha died Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center following a long illness. There will be a private family service. Karen has donated her body to science as a final act of her dedication to mankind. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Surviving are a daughter, Jennifer of Menasha, WI; a son, Sandon of Brillion, WI; her mother, Ardis Koeppen of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Steve Koeppen and Mark Koeppen both of Cedar Rapids; and her very devoted caretaker and special friend, Russel "RJ" Thronson of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald.
Karen was born November 27, 1949 in Cedar Rapids the daughter of Donald and Ardis Miller Cox. Karen was a graduate of Kirkwood Community College and a student at Iowa State University. She was a member of Phi Epsilon Omicron and Kappa Omicron Nu. Karen had a special love of animals, and she enjoyed gardening.
