Peter Robert Pauly, 76, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday July 7, 2006 in Mercy Medical Center following complications from a stroke. Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Sister Peggy Murphy, Head of Pastoral Care, Mercy Medical Center. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call on Cedar Memorial Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel.
Survivors include his wife Sheila, his children, Kevin and Suzette of Cedar Rapids, Peter and wife Tanja of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Scott and wife Kara of Spokane, Washington. Also surviving are his sisters, Virginia Loras Grace and Betty Melvin Kaune of Dubuque, and Barbara Schwendinger of Boscobel, Wisconsin; his grandchildren, Eric and Ryan; Alec, Tanner, Shane and Samuel; Peter and John; his great grandchildren, Connor and Sophia, and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter T. and Elizabeth C. Lang Pauly Zimmerman, a brother, Dr. James P. Pauly, a sister, Marie Emmett Kelly and stepfather, William Zimmerman.
Peter was born on December 5, 1929 in Dubuque, Ia. He graduated from Loras Academy and attended Loras College. He served in the U.S.Navy from 1950-1954 during the Korean Conflict. He married Sheila Palmer on July 23, 1955. He retired from Rockwell-Collins in 1985. Peter enjoyed nature, gardening, fishing, carpentry, traveling and visiting his family across the country and volunteering. He was a very loving and generous person who was always helping others. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In Lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Phyllis Lorraine Patrick
Born in Monroe, Iowa on December 27, 1923
Departed on March 8, 2009. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Phyllis Lorraine Patrick, 85, of 2500 River Run Court, died at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy on Sunday, March 8, 2009 after a long illness. Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Dave Higdon. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Chapel. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include a daughter, Paulette (Bill) Driscoll of Cedar Rapids; son, Wayne (Diana) Patrick of Toddville; four grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; and two brothers, Kenneth and Don.

Phyllis was born December 27, 1923 in Monroe to Dick and Bernice Groet. She married Elmer Patrick on December 15, 1941 in Lancaster, MO. She liked vegetable gardening, crafts, and spending time with her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Hospice House of Mercy.

Elwood "Bill" W. Paul
Born in Cedar Rapids, IA on November 20, 1924
Departed on October 13, 2006. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Elwood "Bill" W. Paul, 81, 3511 E Ave NW went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 13, 2006 at the V.A. Medical Center in Iowa City. Services: 1:00 P.M. Monday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday from 3PM to 5PM. Pastor Randy Kasch of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church will officiate.
Surviving in addition to his wife Nancy are a daughter, Debra Paul of North Liberty; two sons, Marc Paul Sandra of Haughton, LA and Dennis Paul Liz of Missouri City, TX; two step-daughters, Diane Kitzman Jeff of Cedar Rapids and Karen Cherry George of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Andrew and Matthew Paul, Greg Paul and Kristy Porter; and three sisters, Maryann Armstrong Ed of Cedar Rapids, Norma Steckel George of Ajo, UT and Betty Miller. He is also survived by family, friends and a special friend, Bill Mausser.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Wanda in 1998.
Elwood was born November 20, 1924 in Cedar Rapids the son of Elwood and Mary Anne Charipar Paul. He married Wanda I. Snell on May 25, 1951 in Iowa City. She died July 6, 1998. He later married Nancy Taylor on February 20, 2000 in Cedar Rapids. Elwood worked for the Railroad for several years, and following that he was a machinist for Kwik Way until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. Elwood was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. He loved to talk politics, he was a Westdale Mall Mallwalker and he especially enjoyed spending time with his youngest grandson, Dylan Cherry.
Military rites by American Legion Hanford Post #5.
Memorials may be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

Helen Delores Potter
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on August 25, 1925
Departed on October 16, 2006. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Helen D. Potter, 81, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Washington, Iowa died October 16, 2006 at Iowa City Health and Rehab Center following a long illness. Memorial Services 11 AM Saturday October 21, 2006 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. William B. Harnish will officiate. Friends may call 6 to 8 PM Friday October 20, 2006 at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery.

Survivors include daughter Dixie Speed and husband Tom of Cedar Rapids, daughter Connie Duwa and husband Dean of Ainsworth, son Jim Potter and wife Marlene of Marion, daughter Teresa Schutte of Iowa City, and son Doug Potter and wife Kathy of Washington. Also surviving are her sisters Dorothy Rozinek and Adeline Weimer and husband Ernie all of Cedar Rapids, as well as her 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son William, a brother Tony, and sisters Evelyn, Marge and Marie.

Helen Delores Potter was born August 25, 1925 in Cedar Rapids the beloved daughter of Anton and Lottie Medulan Voracek. She was employed for 13 years at Shopko prior to her illness. She greatly enjoyed playing bingo, cards, golf and bowling. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Washington. Helen was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Memorial donations in Helen's honor may be made to Iowa City Hospice 1025 Wade Street, Iowa City, IA 52240.

John Henry Punke
Born in Thomas, New Mexico on September 30, 1922
Departed on October 21, 2006. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

John H. Punke, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday October 21, 2006 in his home from a brief illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Church Presbyterian by the Rev. Ron Lewis. Friends may call on Tuesday at Turner West Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Debra Robinson and husband Dave of Mechanicsville, Janet Webster and husband Tom of Cedar Rapids, three grandchildren, Danielle Webster of Cedar Rapids, Mike Robinson and wife Amanda of Mississippi, and Holly Robinson of Iowa City, two great grandchildren, Worth and Harlynn Robinson both of Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife M. Arlene Punke, and close friend Lola Anderson.
John was born September 30, 1922 in Thomas, New Mexico, the son of Charles and Ica Mercer Punke. He marries M. Arlene Ferguson on September 5, 1948. She died in 1986. John was employed with Northwestern Bell for 32 years as a installer/repairman. He was a charter member of Christ Church Presbyterian, where he was Treasurer of Church Board. He was also a member of the American Legion Hanford Post # 5 and V.F.W. Post # 788. He enjoyed woodworking, going out to eat, and talking to family and friends on the phone. John was an avid Cubs and Iowa sports fan. John favorite was spending time with his family and friends. John served in the Army during World War II. The American Legion Hanford Post # 5 will conduct military rites.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Lillian C. Peters
Born in Bertram, Iowa on May 22, 1921
Departed on October 23, 2006. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Lillian C. Peters, 85, of 1224 13th St N.W. died Monday October 23, 2006 in Mercy Medical Center following a sudden illness. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Thursday at All Saints Catholic Church by the Rev. David O'Connor. Burial: St. John's Catholic cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be Wednesday at Turner West Funeral Home from 4-8 pm with a vigil service at 4:30 pm.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Everett Peters, her sons, Francis Peters of Fairbanks, Alaska, Mark Peters of Cedar Rapids, Florian Peters of Iowa City, Gilbert Peters Debbie of Merrillville, Indiana, her daughters, Mary John Sokol of Chicago, Illinois, and Teresa Mark Wery of Cedar Rapids, and a brother, Phillip Drahos of Fairfax.
Also surviving are grandchildren, Sandra Sokol Goodin, John Sokol, Cheryl Sokol, Mike Sokol, Todd Peters, Sara Peters, Ben Wery, Bryan Wery, Nick Wery, Weston Wery, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Joe, Florian and Freddie Drahos, five sisters, Mary Ann Drahos, Florence Drahos, Jennie Sokol, Ann Drahos, and Helen Mlynarski.
Lillian was born May 22, 1921 in Bertram, Iowa, the daughter of Florian and Anna Soukal Drahos. She married Everett Peters on June 28, 1949 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She was a homemaker and a member of All Saints Catholic Church. Lillian is the last of 6 sisters who owned and operated Mary Ann's Eat Shop in Cedar Rapids. She then carried on the restaurant tradition with her own family with the joy of baking, cooking, canning through out her life for her husband, children, grandchildren and friends.

Doug Palmer
Born in Walla Walla, Washington on August 12, 1943

Doug Palmer, 63, of 830 Bridgit Lane, died Friday, May 4, 2007, in St. Luke's Hospital following a long illness. Services at 3 PM Tuesday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Private burial will be at the Dallas-Fort Worth National cemetery in Dallas, Texas. Friends may call at the chapel after 2:30 PM on Tuesday. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include his children Kathy Teixeira and husband Bob of Tracy, California, Chris Palmer of Sunnyvale, California, Philip Palmer and wife Charissa of Ft. Worth, Texas, Casie Palmer and Kari Palmer both of Cedar Rapids, grandchildren, Alicia, Emily, Elizabeth, Kaylee, and Korbyn, and a brother Dustin Nolan of Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Ron
Doug was born August 12, 1943 in Walla Walla, Washington to Eugene and Frankie Palmer. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a Senior Electrical Engineer at Rockwell-Collins for 10 years.
Known as Doug, Papa, and Dad, he was a loving family man, avid golfer, and brilliant engineer. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
