Wanda M. Ullrick Ross, 87, of 1900 Hamilton Street SW, died Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Cottage Grove Place after a long illness. Graveside memorial services will take place at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery, Garden of The Cross Section. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include a daughter Sharon K. Ullrick, her sister Mildred M. Ashley, grandson Eric M. Thompson, sister-in-law Arylene Ashley, 4 nieces and 2 nephews. Also surviving are special friends Deloris, Jim, Marsha, the Adkins family, and special pets ET, Lucy, Sam, and Smokie.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Phoebe Ashley, brothers Harold Ashley and Gerald Gib Ashley, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Wanda was born September 10, 1920 in Delta, Iowa, and later moved to Cedar Rapids with her family in the 1930's. She enjoyed family time, basketball, golf, word puzzles, music, cards and eating out. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her grandson. Her daughter Sharon fondly remembers being blessed with a great mother, who was her inspiration for the way she lives her life; strong, loving, and caring.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Cottage Grove Place for the caring way they took care of Wanda. Also, Trudie, who Sharon couldn't have done it without you. And, Mary Jane for always being there for Sharon.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Wanda's honor are made to The American Lung Association.

Cyril 'Cy' A. Reilly, 87, of 124 Janice Drive NW, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, after an extended illness. Funeral Mass: 10 am Saturday, St. Jude Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, Father Mark Reasoner officiating. Inurnment: Mount Vernon cemetery. A vigil will be held at 7 pm Thursday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday after 9 a.m. at the church.
Cy is survived by his wife, Renee 'Rita' Travis Reilly, and one sister, Lucille Donner, as well as many nephews and nieces and their children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence D. and Anna McDonald Reilly and brothers Clem, Lawrence Jr., Elmer, Raphael, Joseph and sisters Marian Frankenreiter, Gertrude Wittstock, and Anne Mosle.
Cy was born August 27, 1920, near Peosta. He graduated from Loras Academy 1937 and College 1941 and the Theological College of the Catholic University of America 1945. He was ordained a priest February 3, 1945, at St. Raphael Cathedral in Dubuque.
He served as associate pastor at St. Martin's Church, Cascade, 1945-1947, as secretary to Archbishop Rohlman briefly in 1947, and was assigned to the facility of Loras College in June 1947. He taught Ethics there 1947-1950, then studied English at the University of Notre Dame, where he obtained his Ph.D. in 1954. He taught English at Loras 1954-1971, did audiovisual work at Franciscan Communications Center of Los Angeles in 1972, and was chaplain at Sacred Heart Convent in Cedar Rapids, April 1973 – February, 1974.
In 1974, at his request, he was granted permission to return to the lay state, and on February 8, 1975, he married
Renee 'Rita' Travis in Minneapolis.
From 1974 to 1986, Cy was an audiovisual producer and editor at Winston Press, a CBS- owned publishing house in Minneapolis. He and his wife moved to Cedar Rapids in 1994. Cy and Renee collaborated on six photo gift books, four of them on Ireland, one on the biblical story of creation, and one on the seasons with haiku poet Raymond Roseliep.
Many of Cy's photos were published in books, magazines, calendars, and greeting cards. His religious songs were published in various hymnals, missalettes, textbooks, and on records. His best-known hymn is 'We Long for You, O Lord'.
Cy was active at St. Jude's Church as lector, member of the Bible study group, and visitor with Renee at a local nursing home.
Throughout his life, Cy loved meeting and interacting with people. He enjoyed photographing the beauty he saw in them and in nature. He loved the beauty of language he found in the Bible and in secular literature, and especially in poetry, so he made sound-recordings of many biblical passages and secular poems, particularly Irish poems.
Kelly Sue Rathje

Kelly Sue Rathje, 50, went home to be with the Lord and those that she loved in life who went before her, on Friday June 17, 2011. Services: Private. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Smith of Robins, her daughter, Georgia Rathje of Virginia, her parents, George and Mary Williams of Cedar Rapids, half brother, David (Sarah) Williams of Shellsburg and half sister, Joyce McClaran of Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Rathje and her grandparents.
Kelly was born on September 5, 1960 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of George and Mary Williams. Kelly was passionate about helping people and recently finished her schooling to become a Certified Registered Nurse. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and animals. She loved traveling and helping people and will be greatly missed.
Eleanor S. Rizor

Eleanor S. “Ellie” Rizor, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, June 16, 2011 in her home.
Private family graveside services will be held at the Rock Island National cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her two daughters, Ann Rizor Dalton of Orland Park, Illinois and Mary Zawaski and husband Bill of Chicago; two grandsons, Matthew and Benjamin Zawaski.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband L.E. “Red” Rizor on March 23, 2007.
Eleanor S. Berlin was born April 7, 1925 in New York City, NY the daughter of Samuel and Toby Berlin. On February 2, 1957 she married
L.E. “Red” Rizor in Moline, Illinois.
Ellie worked as a secretary for 18 years at the Satterlee Co., Cedar Rapids.
Ellie was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

Kristina Reed

Kristina “Red” Reed was taken from us on November 20, 2009 by an aggressively, unpredictable cancer. She was 28. Even in her last moments, she departed with the grace and beauty the rest of us can only imagine.
Kristina is survived by family and friends that have forever been blessed by her humor, her generosity, and her unselfish love for those closest to her heart.
With aspirations of being a chef, Kristina graduated from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Minnesota and made her way to Florida to a world famous restaurant at the Walt Disney World Complex, eventually returning home to family and friends to a position at Cottage Grove Place where she made her life the care and protection of its residents.
Kristina touched everyone with her sincere ability to spread laughter and love to anyone in need. She gave love fully, expecting nothing in return. As a token of their love for Kristina, the residents of Cottage Grove Place have established a foundation in her name to help pay for medical expenses.
A Celebration on Life Service will take place from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on Tuesday November 24, 2009 at Cottage Grove Place, located at 2115 1st Ave. SE.
In keeping with Kristina’s unlimitless potential for putting others first, the family has asked for donations to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.

John S. Rammelsberg, 79, a resident of Crestview Acres, Marion, died there Monday December 7, 2009. Memorial services: 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery with military honors by the Iowa National Guard.
Survivors include his children, John Rammelsberg (Ginger) of Cedar Rapids, Paul Rammelsberg (Joanne Dvorak) of Cedar Rapids, Andy Rammelsberg (Lisa) of Cedar Rapids, Celeste Bour (Tony) of Eagan, Minnesota; his siblings, Bernadine Hoyt of Cedar Rapids and Martha Holmes (Jack) of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Kyle Rammelsberg (Laura) of Bowie, Maryland, Ashley Rammelsberg of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Matthew Rammelsberg of Cedar Rapids, Devin Rammelsberg of Cedar Rapids, Shannon Rammelsberg of Cedar Rapids, Racheal Bour of Eagan, Minnesota, Alex Bour of Eagan, Minnesota, a great grandson, Conor Rammelsberg of Bowie, Maryland, and his former wife, Ruth Brouse of Cedar Rapids.
His parents preceded him in death.
John was born February 19, 1930 in Cedar Rapids, the son of John and Berniece Hamilton Rammelsberg. John farmed in the Palo area for most of his life and later worked at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was a member of St. Marks Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids and served in the Marie Corp during the Korean War. He enjoyed dancing, bowling, fishing and playing golf.
