John S. Rammelsberg, 79, a resident of Crestview Acres, Marion, died there Monday December 7, 2009. Memorial services: 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery with military honors by the Iowa National Guard.
Survivors include his children, John Rammelsberg (Ginger) of Cedar Rapids, Paul Rammelsberg (Joanne Dvorak) of Cedar Rapids, Andy Rammelsberg (Lisa) of Cedar Rapids, Celeste Bour (Tony) of Eagan, Minnesota; his siblings, Bernadine Hoyt of Cedar Rapids and Martha Holmes (Jack) of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Kyle Rammelsberg (Laura) of Bowie, Maryland, Ashley Rammelsberg of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Matthew Rammelsberg of Cedar Rapids, Devin Rammelsberg of Cedar Rapids, Shannon Rammelsberg of Cedar Rapids, Racheal Bour of Eagan, Minnesota, Alex Bour of Eagan, Minnesota, a great grandson, Conor Rammelsberg of Bowie, Maryland, and his former wife, Ruth Brouse of Cedar Rapids.
His parents preceded him in death.
John was born February 19, 1930 in Cedar Rapids, the son of John and Berniece Hamilton Rammelsberg. John farmed in the Palo area for most of his life and later worked at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was a member of St. Marks Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids and served in the Marie Corp during the Korean War. He enjoyed dancing, bowling, fishing and playing golf.
Joanne Marie Roland

Joanne Marie Roland, 80, of Moraga, California, formerly of Cedar Rapids died at her home on Friday March 19, 2010 after a short illness. Services at 4:00 PM on Friday at the Noelridge Christian Church. Rev. James Cotten will officiate. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday where there will be an Eastern Star Service held at 5:15 PM by Malta Chapter.
Survivors include a daughter, Michelle (Chris) Hoff of Orinda, California and three sons, Russell (Norma) of Cedar Rapids, Randall of Grapevine, Texas, Martin of Hiawatha and a sister, Mary Martin of Omaha, Nebraska. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Annalisa, Katherine, Victoria and Andrew. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Joanne was born on February 25, 1930 in Des Moines, the daughter of Russell and Doris Dutcher Haas. She married
Kenneth L. Roland on April 6, 1951 in Des Moines. He died in 1997. Joanne was a homemaker and a charter member of Noelridge Christian Church. She was a very creative and compassionate lady. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, bowling and especially time spent with her many friends and beloved family.
A memorial fund has been established in Joanne’s name.

Helen M. Rowley, 95, of Waukesha, WI, formerly of Cedar Rapids died Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at the Virginia Health & Rehab Center, Waukesha, WI.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 am Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church with Rev. Mark Osterhaus officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Friends may call on Monday from 4-5 pm at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her niece, Mari (Tom) Dougherty of Waukesha, WI., two nephews, Donald Dippel of Marion, IA. and John Rasmussen of Royal Oak, Mich. Also, a great niece, Maggie (Brian) Cossman of Forest, VA. and a great nephew, Andrew (Michele) Dougherty of Chicago, Il.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard G. Rowley in 1983 and her brother, Fred Rasmussen and two sisters Clara Dippel and Margaret Rasmussen.
Helen M. Rasmussen was born May 17, 1914 in Stanberry, MO the daughter of Frederick and Margaret (McCann) Rasmussen. She graduated from Marion High School and later married
Howard G. Rowley on October 14, 1940 in Marion, IA. Helen was a homemaker, former member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church and enjoyed knitting hats for newborn babies at Mercy Hospital. She lived for the last eleven years at Oak Hill in
Waukesha, WI.

Harold P. Ray, 74, of 227 16th Ave SW, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Celebration of Life service will be at 3 PM Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. David Grandon will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 PM Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and at the chapel after 2:30 PM on Friday.
Survivors include his children, Diane (Keith Brown) Charnowski of Cedar Rapids, Frank (Dorothy) Ray of Monticello, and Cheryl Ray of Cedar Rapids, a sister, Angel, of Washington state, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and his friend, Pauline Currie. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Harold was born May 8, 1935 in Marion to Harold and Frances Viall Ray. He was very proud of working two jobs for so many years, 52 years installing bronze markers at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery, and 37 years at Cedar Rapids Inc. (Terex).

Milford J. Risdal, 88, of Marion, died at the Willow Gardens Care Center on Thursday Dec. 17, 2009 after a long illness. Services at 1:30 PM on Saturday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Marion. Rev. Greg Williamson will officiate. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia, two daughters, Sharon (Leon) Jagim of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Marilyn (Dennis) Dean of Urbandale and a sister Edna Stein of Newhall. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Julie Lake, Michael (Tracy) Jagim, Amanda (Scott) Damstetter, Kevin (Alanna) Dean and Jessica Dean, and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 8 brothers and 4 sisters.
Milford was born on July 3, 1921 in Newhall, the son of Daniel and Lena Dyrland Risdal. He married
Patricia A. Dorsey on June 26, 1947 in Atkins. Milford farmed in Benton County and also worked for the Benton Community School District, retired from there in 1983 after 27 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, a volunteer firefighter for the Newhall Fire Dept. and proudly served in the Army in WWII.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Milford’s name.

Margaret E. Bilsland Ritchie, 93, of Irving Point died Saturday February 13, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center after a short illness. Survivors include 5 sons, Clarence (Mary) Bilsland of Shellsburg, Terry (Doris) Bilsland, David (Rita) Bilsland, John (Laural) Bilsland, Richard (Billie) Bilsland; two daughters, Karen (Claude “Jim”) Hayes and Linda Goebel all of Cedar Rapids; one step-son, Thomas (Florie) Ritchie, six stepdaughters, Penny Spencer, Melody (Jerry) Turner and Janie (Bill) Jordan all of Cedar Rapids, Jeanie (Mike) Anderson of Marion, Robin (Frank) Poggenpohl of North Liberty and Jennifer (Chuck) Vinto of Olathe, Kansas; one sister, Betty (Bud) Harmon of Tucson, Arizona and a step- daughter-in-law, Patricia Bilsland. She is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 79 great grandchildren and 32 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 sisters, a step-son, William Bilsland and two great grandchildren.
Margaret was born on February 17, 1916 in North Liberty, the daughter of Clarence and Clara Green Vaughn. She married
Jack W. Ritchie on May 20, 1967 in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1994. Margaret worked at Kirkwood Community College as the manager of food service and retired from there after several years of service. She was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church, Women of the Moose and the Red Hats Society. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino and time spent with her family.
