Helen M. Rowley, 95, of Waukesha, WI, formerly of Cedar Rapids died Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at the Virginia Health & Rehab Center, Waukesha, WI.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 am Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church with Rev. Mark Osterhaus officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Friends may call on Monday from 4-5 pm at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her niece, Mari (Tom) Dougherty of Waukesha, WI., two nephews, Donald Dippel of Marion, IA. and John Rasmussen of Royal Oak, Mich. Also, a great niece, Maggie (Brian) Cossman of Forest, VA. and a great nephew, Andrew (Michele) Dougherty of Chicago, Il.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard G. Rowley in 1983 and her brother, Fred Rasmussen and two sisters Clara Dippel and Margaret Rasmussen.
Helen M. Rasmussen was born May 17, 1914 in Stanberry, MO the daughter of Frederick and Margaret (McCann) Rasmussen. She graduated from Marion High School and later married
Howard G. Rowley on October 14, 1940 in Marion, IA. Helen was a homemaker, former member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church and enjoyed knitting hats for newborn babies at Mercy Hospital. She lived for the last eleven years at Oak Hill in
Waukesha, WI.
Joanne Marie Roland

Joanne Marie Roland, 80, of Moraga, California, formerly of Cedar Rapids died at her home on Friday March 19, 2010 after a short illness. Services at 4:00 PM on Friday at the Noelridge Christian Church. Rev. James Cotten will officiate. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday where there will be an Eastern Star Service held at 5:15 PM by Malta Chapter.
Survivors include a daughter, Michelle (Chris) Hoff of Orinda, California and three sons, Russell (Norma) of Cedar Rapids, Randall of Grapevine, Texas, Martin of Hiawatha and a sister, Mary Martin of Omaha, Nebraska. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Annalisa, Katherine, Victoria and Andrew. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Joanne was born on February 25, 1930 in Des Moines, the daughter of Russell and Doris Dutcher Haas. She married
Kenneth L. Roland on April 6, 1951 in Des Moines. He died in 1997. Joanne was a homemaker and a charter member of Noelridge Christian Church. She was a very creative and compassionate lady. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, bowling and especially time spent with her many friends and beloved family.
A memorial fund has been established in Joanne’s name.

Melvin “Mike” L. Roup, 90, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, March 21, 2010, after a brief illness in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation: 10 a.m. Saturday, until the time of the service. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Ronald and Maureen of De Pere, WI; daughter-in-law, Julie (Phillip) Linse of Littleton, CO; four grandsons, Paul (Jill) of De Pere, WI, Alex (Lynette) of Green Bay, Austin and Andrew Roup, both of Colorado; two granddaughters, Stacey (Ken) Urry of Bartlett, IL and Kathryn (Josh) Vieth of Waukesha, WI; 10 great-grandchildren; special friends, Jason and Michelle; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Roup; 2 brothers, Donald and Robert (Pat) Roup; two sisters, Lois (Don) Wilson and Dorothy (Homer) Emerson.
Born January 17, 1920 in DeWitt, he is the son of the late William Lester and Mette-Marie (Lund) Roup. Mike is a graduate of Lisbon High School. On September 10, 1949 he married
Bernadette Mungen at St. Irenaeus Church in Clinton and she preceded him in death in 1997.
Mike was a long-time Group Claims Manager for Mutual of Omaha in Cedar Rapids retiring in 1982. Both Mike and Bernadette were active volunteers for St. Jude Parish and Mercy Hospital. He will be remembered as a life-long Hawkeye and Cubs fan. Mike enjoyed the outdoors, especially duck hunting and fishing and was always ready for a good conversation.

Norabelle “Billie” Rusher, 95, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, March 22, 2010, at the Ft. Madison Health Center. Memorial Services: 2 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, Cedar Rapids by the Rev. Heather Hayes. Entombment: 1 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. A visitation will be held Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m.
Billie is survived by sons, Keith (Jan) Rusher of Ft. Madison and Del (Sandy) Rusher of Las Vegas, NV; and 7 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Noel; daughter, Elaine McGinness; and 2 sisters.
Billie was born January 11, 1915 in Des Moines and married
Noel Rusher there on September 2, 1933. She was a buyer for Killians Department Store for over 30 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Donald Charles Rodman

Donald Charles Rodman, 70, went to heaven on April 16, 2010, after a long fight with COPD. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 am, April 21, 2010 at St. James United Methodist Church, 1430 Ellis Blvd NW, Cedar Rapids, with lunch to follow.
Donald was born on January 29, 1940. He married
Alleen Marie Martin on December 2, 1967. He started at the Cedar Rapids Street Dept as a heavy equipment operator and retired as acting Director of Public Works after 36 years. He enjoyed exploring the Cedar River with his family, fishing, hunting, and classic cars. Donald’s favorite vacation spots were Northern Minnesota and Mt. View, Arkansas. He loved gospel, bluegrass, and classical music; reading old west novels; and working in the yard. He was happiest when with his grandchildren.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy (Robinson) Rodman.
He is survived by his wife, Alleen; his sisters: Donna (Larry) Funk, Virginia (Marvin) Shaffer, and Julia (Mick) Ransome; his children and grandchildren: Dawn and her girls Elizabeth (Efren) Moreno and Karra (Mike) Ferguson; Bill (Sheri) and his girls Maliesa (Jade) Sears, Michelle, Kristin, Amie, and Grace; Christopher (Christine) and their children Carter, Quinn, Emma, and Skyler; and Marci and her daughter Jessie. He left behind eleven great-grandchildren: Austin, Alysalynn, Avery, Aydan, Andres, Collin, Dally, Jadyn, Lucas, James, and Sulleigh Bryann. Donald will truly be missed. We love you Dad!
Geraldine Izetta Ross

Geraldine I. Ross, 91, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Waterloo, died April 21, 2010 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy following a short illness. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Inurnment will take place at 3:30 PM, Saturday, at Garden of Memories cemetery, Waterloo.
Surviving are her sons Martin Ross and wife Barb, and Craig Ross all of Cedar Rapids; her sister Sandra Plotz of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren Martin Collins and wife Diana of Waterloo, Angie Erenberger and husband Tim of Cedar Rapids, Thomas Ross and wife Candy of Shueyville, Amy Schmitt of Cedar Rapids, and Addie Ross of Iowa City; 8 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas; sons Thomas (Larry) Ross and Ronald Ray Ross; a brother Roland; and grandson-in-law Matt Schmitt.
Geraldine Izetta Ross was born November 29, 1918 in Cedar Rapids the daughter of Grover and Addie (Parker) Foggy. She married
Thomas Ross on July 18, 1937 in Cedar Rapids, they later moved to Waterloo. She was employed for several years at Powers Manufacturing in Waterloo, and later at Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion. She was previously a member of First Presbyterian Church in Waterloo. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and reading. Her greatest enjoyment was time spent with family, especially her grandchildren.
Memorial donations in Geraldine’s honor may be made to Hospice of Mercy.
