Sam Travagiakis, 88, of Cedar Rapids died Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Northbrook Manor, Cedar Rapids.
Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Rev. Dorothy Gerr officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 pm Monday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Edith; Daughter, Lisa Kennedy (Christopher) of Marion; Son, Michael Travagiakis (Gail) of Oregon; 7 grandchildren, AmberLynn, Eric, Amy, Terence, Ryan, Kyle, Michalie and 1 great grandchild, Rexton; Sisters, Irene Minor of Cedar Rapids, Victoria Mestas of Cornville, AZ, Florence Getlin of Anadarko, OK.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Steven, Sister, Elaine Butters, Brothers, George and Tony.
Sam Travagiakis was born January 19, 1922 in Cherokee, IA the son of James & Edna (Hill) Travagiakis. On January 7, 1953 he married
Edith Mae Parry. Sam was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, taxidermy, leatherwork, making walking canes and hat racks. Sam was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers #373 and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes.

Melvin “Mike” L. Roup, 90, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, March 21, 2010, after a brief illness in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation: 10 a.m. Saturday, until the time of the service. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Ronald and Maureen of De Pere, WI; daughter-in-law, Julie (Phillip) Linse of Littleton, CO; four grandsons, Paul (Jill) of De Pere, WI, Alex (Lynette) of Green Bay, Austin and Andrew Roup, both of Colorado; two granddaughters, Stacey (Ken) Urry of Bartlett, IL and Kathryn (Josh) Vieth of Waukesha, WI; 10 great-grandchildren; special friends, Jason and Michelle; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Roup; 2 brothers, Donald and Robert (Pat) Roup; two sisters, Lois (Don) Wilson and Dorothy (Homer) Emerson.
Born January 17, 1920 in DeWitt, he is the son of the late William Lester and Mette-Marie (Lund) Roup. Mike is a graduate of Lisbon High School. On September 10, 1949 he married
Bernadette Mungen at St. Irenaeus Church in Clinton and she preceded him in death in 1997.
Mike was a long-time Group Claims Manager for Mutual of Omaha in Cedar Rapids retiring in 1982. Both Mike and Bernadette were active volunteers for St. Jude Parish and Mercy Hospital. He will be remembered as a life-long Hawkeye and Cubs fan. Mike enjoyed the outdoors, especially duck hunting and fishing and was always ready for a good conversation.

Edward J. Rehberg, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died August 11, 2010 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy following a long illness. Funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 AM, on Monday, August 16, 2010 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Rev. David Ambrosy will officiate. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 15, 2010 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where a vigil service will begin at 7:00 PM. Entombment will take place at Mt. Calvary cemetery.
Surviving are his wife RoseMary; children Julie Ann Ortis and husband Joseph of Fairbanks, AK and James C. Rehberg of Cedar Rapids; granddaughters Tyse Adams of Cedar Rapids, and Spring and Stevie Ortis both of Fairbanks, AK.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Edward Joseph Rehberg was born September 26, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Edward C. and Josephine (Cieniewski) Rehberg. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Loyola University. He was united in marriage to RoseMary Leinen on June 18, 1956 in Earling, Iowa. He was owner and operator of Forms IV from 1972-1994 as well as owning the Westside Lounge from 1979 to 1984. He later worked for Source Data Systems from 1994 to 1999. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Marion American Legion, and the Cedar Rapids Stamp Club. He enjoyed stamp collecting, fishing, reading, and watching the Chicago Cubs.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of Mercy.
Martha L. Wilkinson

Martha L. Wilkinson, 92, of Living Center West died there on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002 after a short illness. Services at 1 PM on Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM on Wed.
Survivors include a son, Thomas and his wife, Alice of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Tom of Las Vegas, Nevada, and David and his wife, Mindy of Columbus, Ohio, and two great grandchildren, Mitchell and Ryan. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Martha was born on Nov. 5, 1909 in Jacksonville, MO. the daughter of James and Mary Cosby Lusk. She married
Thomas J. Wilkinson on Sept. 9, 1933 in Iowa City. He died in 1971. In college, she majored in accounting and graduated from Chillicothe Business College in 1928. She was a licensed accounting practitioner in Cedar Rapids. She practiced accountancy from 1945 until her retirement in 1987. She was a former member of the Accountants Association of Iowa and she was elected president of the association to serve for the year 1960-1961. Martha was also a member of the National Society of Public Accountants from 1953 until 1989 and was state delegate to the association. In 1986 she was appointed by Governor Brandstad as a member of the Accounting Practitioner Advisory Committee to the Board of Accountancy of the State of Iowa. Martha believed in and worked for the advancement of women in the professions. She was a member of the First Baptist Church-Church of the Brethren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to her Church.
Maddeson E. Tersinar

Maddeson E. Tersinar, 7, of 3495 26th Ave, Marion, passed away Friday, August 21, 2009, at University Hospital in Iowa City following a 7 month courageous battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare childhood cancer. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Marion with Pastor Mike Morgan officiating. Interment will be at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and at the church after 10 AM on Tuesday.
Surviving to honor her memory are her parents Amy and Kory Tersinar of Marion, sisters Kendall Tersinar of Marion, and Josie Tersinar of Springville, her father Larry D. Billmeyer Jr. (Becky Kennicker), and his daughter Brittani of Dubuque, grandparents, Edward and Charlene Staskal of East Dubuque, Jerry and Gwen Tersinar of Marion, and Larry and Cathy Billmeyer of Dubuque, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Maddeson was born April 3, 2002, in Dubuque, Iowa. She was a student at Indian Creek Elementary School in Marion. Maddeson’s favorite color was lime green. She also loved horses and grandpa Jerry’s sauerkraut. Maddeson enjoyed playing with her friends at school, going to Kernel baseball games, fishing with her “Daddy Kory”, reading books to her baby sister Kendall, and playing softball. Maddeson’s greatest passion was drawing. She loved drawing anything from rainbows to re-creating her own “Starry Night’ by Van Gogh and “Water Lillies” by Monet. One of her works of art was displayed at Mt. Mercy College’s Children’s Art Exhibit in Cedar Rapids. Maddeson’s dream was to go to Sea World. Through the amazing work of the Make-A-Wish foundation, Sea World and the U of I hospital and staff, Maddeson’s dream became a reality last Wednesday when Sea World held a live personalized Shamu show via television where Maddeson and the animal trainers interacted. Maddeson’s school principal Tina Monroe said, “Maddeson fought with a spirit and composure that was inspiration to all and her life had a profound impact on her teachers, fellow students, and their parents.”

Keith E. Stapleton
Born in Perry, Iowa on November 17, 1924

Keith E Stapleton., 81, died Friday morning, May 13, 2005 at St Lukes Hospital after an extended illness. There will be a private family graveside service in Perry, Iowa on June 13 at Violet Hill cemetery. Arrangements for cremation are thru Cedar Memorial Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Surviving is his wife Georgene of 56 years, two sons; Kirk and wife Judy of St Louis Park, Minnesota and Cort and wife Shelly of Cedar Rapids, a sister, Marjorie Sorenson of Eugene, Oregon, and two grandchildren, Brooks and Molly Stapleton of St Louis Park, Minnesota.
Keith was born on November 17, 1924 in Perry, Iowa to Frank and Bess Stapleton. He was the youngest child of eight.
Keith attended Perry High School, was a well recognized athlete in state basketball, football, and track, winning many state awards, medals, and letters and was inducted to the Perry High School Hall of Fame. He was sought by numerous colleges and universities including USC and Notre Dame for football. He was recruited to play football under Coach Bud Wilkinson with National Champion, University of Minnesota in 1941. In 1942, he entered the service. Keith served as a sergeant in the First Army under General Omar Bradley and Brigadier General Courtney Hodges. He survived D+1 D Day and the Battle of the Bulge to come home and finish his studies at the University of Iowa and enter the U of I Law school. He entered the practice of law upon graduation, serving as Assistant Linn County attorney for six years and a Special Assistant to the Attorney General for 18 years. He eventually joined BD Silliman and William O. Gray to form Silliman, Gray, and Stapleton, a firm he practiced law with for many years. Later in his career he entered solo practice.
Keith had a brilliant and analytical mind; he was extremely devoted to his family and pursued the highest ideals in his profession as a lawyer His greatest joy was serving as counsel to the Iowa Dental Board and helped in establishing their procedures and was selected as the 7th honorary member of the Iowa Dental Association. Keith helped to secure lights and power to the community of Palo, representing numerous clients regardless of their ability to pay him... For a number of years, Keith was very active in the Republican Party of Iowa and attended St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Keith lived life as a challenge to improve himself, mentally, physically with the highest level of integrity and devotion to basic principles for living.

Dorothy M. Stastny, 84, of 2350 Brookland Drive N.E., died Wednesday May 11, 2005 in Mercy Medical Center following a long illness. Services: 11:00 A.M. Friday at Turner West Funeral Home, where friends may call today from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and after 10:00 A.M. on Friday. Burial: Czech National cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter, Pat Larry Hall of Cedar Rapids, three sons, Robert Jr. Jocelyn Stastny of Cedar Rapids, Ron Michelle Stastny of Ely and Richard Sally Stastny of Cedar Rapids, two sisters, Irene Rick of Marion and Albia Olson of Kenosha, Wisconsin, 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Stastny, and a brother, Robert F. Navratil.
Dorothy was born May 18, 1920 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Joseph and Albia Kvach Navratil. She married
Robert T. Stastny on July 11, 1942 in Cedar Rapids. Dorothy was a homemaker. She was very devoted to her family. She enjoyed cooking, making desserts and was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
A memorial fund has been established by the family.
