De Loye Emerson Thompson, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, October 24, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church by the Rev. Dan Kolander. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery with military services. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Survivors include his wife, Beula, children, DeAnn Schriner and Gary (Diane) Thompson, all of Cedar Rapids, Bill (Connie)Thompson of Westgate, and Doug (Patty)Thompson of Glenwood; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Betty Segriff; son, Thomas; and great grandson, Davis Eric Thompson.

De Loye was born January 8, 1924 in Norway to Carl and Alta Vig Thompson. He was an Army veteran of WWII, receiving the Purple Heart. De Loye married Beula Coombs in Iowa City on June 12, 1945. He was employed at National Oats for over 45 years, retiring as foreman. He loved the outdoors; especially fishing. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father who loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church.

Ronald J. Saddoris
Born in Osceola, Iowa on August 3, 1937
Departed on June 30, 2004. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Ronald J. Saddoris, 66, of 6454 Quail Ridge Dr. SW, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004, in his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Services at 9 AM Saturday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Bruce Kittle will officiate. Burial in Linwood cemetery. Military rites by the US Marine Corps Reserve, Battery C, 1st BTN, 14th MAR, Waterloo, IA. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday and at the chapel after 8:30 AM on Saturday.
Survivors include his wife Cathy, daughter Lynn Anne Saddoris and husband Ryan Charkowski of Cedar Rapids, two brothers Joe Saddoris Jr. and wife Ruth of Ames, Iowa, and Donald Saddoris and wife Mary of Goreville, Illinois, a sister Patty Petersen and husband Richard of Clinton, Iowa, many special nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his grand dog Tucker. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Frances Louise and a brother Eugene.
Ronald was born August 3, 1937 in Osceola, Iowa to Joseph and Evelyn Moran Saddoris. He married Catherine Carr on June 24, 1983 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
He was a member of the American Legion, ACSM American Congress on Surveying and Mapping, Marine Corps League, Society of Land Surveyors of Iowa. He worked for the IDOT from 1958 to 1966. He then became project manager and survey team leader at Shive Hattery from 1966 to present. He served in the US Marine Corps 4th Marine Air Wing Division VMGR 234 for 30 years.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Hospice, Toys for Tots, or the Ghosh Foundation.

Edward Saldana
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on October 12, 1922
Departed on May 29, 2004. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Edward Saldana, 81, of 215-16th Street NE, passed away May 29, 2004, in his home following a short illness. Services at 11 AM Saturday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Rev. Msgr. Karl Glovik will officiate. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday with a Rosary service beginning at 6:30 PM.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Maria Jesus Susie, five children; Arthur Joyce Saldana, Oswego, Il, Becky Dan Deal, Burlington, Ia, Paul Saldana, Margaret Dennis Riha, M. Jeanie Charlie Shears Saldana Dewitt, and a daughter-in-law Gina Saldana all of Cedar Rapids. Twelve grandchildren; James and Douglas Saldana, Steven and Eric Deal, Amber, Erin, and Ian Saldana, Regina Eugene Bell, Justin and Dennis Riha, Summer Adam Tieskoetter, Adam Saldana DeWitt. A special granddaughter Tracy Cahill and family friend Mary Prange. Seven great-grandchildren; Theresa Saldana, Lexis Akerberg, Ashton Saldana, Olivia and Sofia Bell, Chloe and Noah Tieskoetter.
Other survivors include a brother Carmen, Joliet, Il, five sisters, Luz Saldana, Mexico City, Mexico, Lupe Samudio, Joliet, Il, Dolores Saldana, Socorro Aguilera and Maria Saldana all of San Francisco del Rincon, Gto. Mexico. Mother-in-law Ma. Luz Bustos, six sisters-in-law Virginia Saldana, M. Luisa Abarca, Imelda Munoz, Edelmira Martinez, Luz Maria Gervacio, Ofelia Vinas, four brothers-in-law Antonio, Salvador, Silvestre, and Raul Bustos all of Mexico. Numerous nieces and nephews all of Mexico and Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Antonio and sister Consuelo Estrada.
Edward was born October 12, 1922 in Cedar Rapids the son of Blas Saldana and Maria Jesus Navarro. He married Maria Jesus Susie Bustos, December 29, 1945 in San Francisco del Rincon, Gto. Mexico.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
A lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, he worked 34 years for the Rock Island Railroad, Chicago Northwestern Railroad and the last 20 years for the Milwaukee Railroad until his retirement in 1986. Later he was employed by the Cedar Rapids School District as a school crossing guard for Polk Elementary from August 1990 to January 1995.
On January 18, 1995, while working on the corner of 1st ave and 15th Street, Ed was hit by a truck while saving a young child from injury. As a result of his heroic action he was awarded and recognized by several groups. The Cedar Rapids Fire Department Award for Heroism, Mutual Insurance Assoc of Iowa 1995 Public Service Award, the State of Iowa Hero Award given at the Iowa State Fair, and was a Freedom Festival Hero recipient.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, dad will be remembered for the love of his family, his generosity, and the special affection he had for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they for him. He will be deeply missed.
We all express gratitude to Dr. Wayne Alberts and his staff, Mercy Hospital and Hospice of Mercy for their loving and professional care of our father.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Edward's favorite charities, Boy's Town, Nebraska, or Hospice of Mercy.

Paul E. Zahn
Born in Iowa City, Iowa on December 1, 1935
Departed on January 8, 2007. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Paul E. Zahn, 71, of 2712 J. St. SW, died Monday, January 8, 2007, in Mercy Medical Center following a long illness. His family will have an open house to celebrate his life at his son's residence 3106 Hogan Ave NW 396-0412 from 4 to 8 PM Friday. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife Jane "Mike", four sons Ricky Sandra of Cedar Rapids, Shawn of Penn., Shane and David Suize all of Cedar Rapids, a brother Clarence Laverne Zahn of Washington, four sisters Mary Evans of Urbana, Lavone Robert Lee of Vinton, Mardell Lint of Shellsburg, and Hazel Harry Rublack of Vinton, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers Oliver, Robert, Walter, and Levi, and two sisters Lois, and Marie.

Paul was born December 1, 1935 in Iowa City to John and Vrna Rambo Zahn. He married Jane Robertson on November 26, 1971 in Galena, Illinois. He was employed at Wilson's for 27 and a half years in the Bacon Room and production. He loved to fish and hunt and going to casino's especially Tama.

Instead of flowers a memorial fund has been established.

Kathy 'Kat' Shahan
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on January 14, 1955

Kathy 'Kat' Shahan, 49, 2607 Fruitland Blvd SW died Sunday, May 16, 2004 at her home following a short illness. Services: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Chapel of Memories. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. The Rev. Chris Hayman will officiate.
Survivors include her husband Mike; two daughters, Cris Hawkins of Belle Plaine and Amy McNeal and grandson Jacob of Cedar Rapids; three sons, Jeff Schwab of Cedar Rapids, Jamie Schwab of Belle Plaine, and Josh Shahan of Cedar Rapids; her parents, Marvin and Madelyn Klouda of Cedar Rapids: two brothers, Danny Klouda and Terry Klouda both of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Connie Redmond and Debbie Spores both of Cedar Rapids and Marlene Martin of Seward, NE; and ten grandchildren.
Kathy was born January 14, 1955 in Cedar Rapids the daughter of Marvin and Madelyn Greenwood Klouda. She married Mike Shahan on October 21, 1978 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She loved doing crafts, woodworking and sharing her artistic talent with everyone. She loved to travel. Kathy was a loving mother, grandmother and a special aunt to all. She will be greatly missed.

Glenna Lee Totten
Born in Bladensburg on April 28, 1930
Departed on September 8, 2010. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Glenna L. Totten, 80, of 4009 Glen Elm Dr. NE died Wednesday September 8, 2010 at St. Lukes Hospital after a long illness. Services at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call after 10:00 AM on Saturday. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Floyd, one daughter, Dianna (Larry) Kohl of Lisbon, and two sons, Charles (Linda) of Hiawatha, Robert of Cedar Rapids, and her twin sister, Gleda (Virgil) Locke of Ottumwa. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Amy (Thomas) Kortemeyer, Kimberly Kohl all of Lisbon, Laurie (Jim) Rummells of Walford and Marshall Totten of Hiawatha, great grandchildren, Ryan and Morgan Kortemeyer, Kolbi Kohl and Macie Rummells; and a sister-in-law, Shirley (Charles) Bauer from California. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Lawrence, Donald, Darrell and Estol Humble and two sisters, Leatha White and Cleora Pierson.
Glenna was born on April 28, 1930 in Bladensburg, the daughter of Charles and Grace Leeling Humble. She married Floyd M. Totten on October 4, 1948 in Ottumwa. Glenna was a homemaker. She was a wonderful person and especially enjoyed the time she spent with her beloved family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial fund has been established in Glenna’s name.

Marie Young
Born in Cedar Rapids, IA on November 13, 1919
Departed on December 3, 2006. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Marie Young, 87, a resident of Bickford Cottage died Sunday, December 3, 2006 at Northbrook Manor following a brief illness. Services: 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5PM to 7PM. The Rev. Richard Ernst will officiate.
Survivors include three sons, Gary R. Young Betty of Marion, James R. Young Linda and Dean F. Young Tish all of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Millie Ortner of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Brandi Bendixen, Tami Melcher, Jamie Young, Dustin Young, Brittany Young, Keegan Young, Brix Young and Ryker Young; and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred in 1981, two brothers Mike Mahring and Jerry Mahring, and a sister Georgia Robinson.
Marie was born November 13, 1919 in Cedar Rapids the daughter of Jerry and Marie Sediva Mahring. She married Frederick R. Young on January 18, 1941 in Tipton. She was the credit and catalog manager for J.C. Penney Department Store for 17 years, retiring in 1981. Marie was a member of Credit Women Professional's, the New Encounters Group, Mercy Auxiliary, Mercy Volunteers, the V.F.W. Auxiliary, and the 3R Book Club. She was also a member of First Lutheran Church.
