Arne E. Samuelsson, 73, died at his home, Friday, July 14, 2006, after a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Pastor Ginny Bass at Amenity Hospice. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home Wednesday from 4:30 to 8 p.m. and after 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the chapel.

Survivors include his wife, Marty Clark; a daughter Carina Jeff Kraayenbrink of Cedar Rapids; two grandsons, Alexander Andrea Roth of Maine and Christian Roth of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Elsie Lindgren and Ingalill Nilsson, both of Sweden; a brother Bo Samuelsson of Sweden; two stepsons, Jason McCarville of Cedar Rapids, and Joe McCarville of Lone Tree; three step grandchildren, Kelli, Jim, and Scott Kraayenbrink; and his ex-wife Yvonne Samuelsson of Sweden.

Arne was preceded in death by a son Jan Michael Samuelsson; his parents, and a brother Lars Samuelsson.

Arne was born May 29, 1933 in Ekeby, Sweden to Einar and Berta Samuelsson. He graduated from the Nordic Institute in Stockholm with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a degree in Business Administration from the University of Stockholm, He married Yvonne in June of 1957. They were later divorced. He married Marty Clark on May 9, 2005 in Lisbon. Arne was a veteran of the Swedish Air Force. In his career, Arne was the President and CEO of Lefebure Corporation in Cedar Rapids, the President at Ventronic Inc in San Francisco, CA, the President and CEO at Xerox Corporation in Sweden, and was employed by IBM.

Arne was a volunteer at S.C.O.R.E., Service Corporation of Retired Executives SHIIP Senior Health Insurance Information Program, a Board member at St. Luke's Hospital, and an insurance counselor at St. Luke's Hospital.

Arne's love of cars included Formula One Auto Racing. He also loved the sea and boating. He was very talented in plumbing, electrical, and mechanical work. He was a jack of all trades.

Memorials may be directed to Amenity Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Thomas Clifford Yanecek
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on December 25, 1948

Thomas (Tom) Clifford Yanecek, 61, of Cedar Rapids, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the Iowa City Veterans Medical Center on October 29, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Jim Bonewald of Knox Presbyterian Church will officiate. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, November 1, 2010 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Military honors by VFW Post # 788.

He is survived by his wife Jan of Cedar Rapids; mother, Dorothy of Cedar Rapids; stepsons, Brian Steadman (Jennifer) of Cedar Rapids and Aaron Steadman of Maryville, TN; a brother, John Yanecek (Arlene) of Vinton; a sister, Deb Rogers of Cedar Rapids; and three granddaughters, Kristy and Jessica Alexander of Cedar Rapids and Summer Steadman of Maryville, TN.

Tom was born Christmas Day 1948 to Clayton and Dorothy (Baker) Yanecek. He was a 1967 graduate of Washington High School in Cedar Rapids. He was a member of the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1971, serving in Vietnam as a K9 Handler, 1969-1970. On March 28, 1973 he married Jan Wayland.

Tom was one of the first Cedar Rapids Reserve Police Officers. He also worked at P & H Harnischfeger, Goss, and Terex in Cedar Rapids. He was a Life Member of Patrick J. Shanahan VFW Post 788, where he served as Commander for 3 ½ years and was a member of the Elite Color Guard. He was a member of Pekomy American Legion Post # 572 in Fairfax, IA and La Societie 40/8, Voiture 1305 of Linn County and AMVETS Post 6 in Cedar Rapids. He was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church.

Tom was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved camping and telling jokes.

A luncheon following the services will be held at VFW Post 788, 3420 Southgate Place SW, Cedar Rapids.

Memorials may be made to VFW Post 788.

Jack W. Williamson
Born in Hawkeye, IA. on May 26, 1922
Departed on December 1, 2002. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Jack W. Williamson, 80 of the Woodlands at Meth Wick Community, died there Sunday following a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Rev. Dan Clark - Bridges, Hope Lutheran Church officiating. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 p.m.to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and at the Chapel of Memories after 10 a.m. on Thursday. American Legion Hanford Post #5 will conduct military services.

Surviving is a son, William and wife Nancy of Cedar Rapids, a daughter, Pat Seifert and husband Ray of Cedar Rapids, a sister, Jean E. Hammill of Cedar Rapids and grandchildren, Kelly Williamson, Bret Williamson, Greg, Seifert, Gina Butcher and Gary Seifert, 4 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews.

Jack was born on May 26, 1922 to Harry and Pearl Selig Williamson in Hawkeye, Iowa. His family moved to Oelwein when he was a child, and later settled in Cedar Rapids. After graduating from Roosevelt High School, he enlisted in the Army, attending and completing his studies at Dunwoodie Institute in Minneapolis and the DeVry Institute in Chicago. He served as a communications specialist during World War II in the European Theater at the Battle of the Bulge. Upon returning from the war, he worked for his father at the Chandler Company constructing heating systems. Jack worked for a short time as a letter carrier, but his lifelong employment was at the Square D Company in Cedar Rapids. In 1957, Square D sent him to Chicago, Illinois to open their new facility. After completing this task, he returned to Cedar Rapids and started the model shop for the engineering department at Squire D, assuming the position of Model Shop Manager until his retirement in 1982. Jack was well respected for his abilities and the unique way in which he understood people.

He married Barbara Chadima on October 16, 1946. She passed away on August 11, 2002. Barbara was the love of his life and they were inseparable. Their fondest memories were those involving family activities, and family meant everything to them. Jack was a totally devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, always making time to help others. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

A true 'Jack of all trades', he was a master of them all. Jack could fix or build anything. At age twelve, he built his first motorcycle from a box of parts he bought from a friend. His interest in motorcycling continued throughout his life. He especially enjoyed the challenges of repairing non-functional items brought to him by friends and family. Electronic devices, televisions, air conditioners, and lawnmowers were his favorites. He always claimed that these activities kept him going long after retirement could have proven boring. Jack possessed an endless mental repertoire of stories and jokes and shared them skillfully with those around him. He especially looked forward to the frequent nursing home visits from his buddies Gerald Edleman and Bill Drago.

He was a 50 year member of the American Legion Hanford Post # 5 and was a member of VFW Post # 788.

Sincere appreciation is extended to Silver Pines, Willow Gardens and the Meth Wick Community Woodlands for their superior care and support for Jack and his family.

A memorial fund has been established.

M. Sue Schipfmann, 60, of Cedar Rapids passed away July 11, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. Funeral Mass10 AM Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marion. Father John Gossman will officiate. Friends may call from 7 to 9 PM Friday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home and after 9 AM Saturday at church. Vigil Service will be held at 7 PM Friday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Private Family Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery.

Survivors include her loving husband Michael Schipfmann of Cedar Rapids, daughter Stephanie Wayde Cin of New Market, MN, stepson Carl Carlene Schipfmann of Lenexa, KS, stepdaughter Karen Jay Nielson of Cody, WY, and grandchildren Emma and Issac Cin and Riley Nielson; her sisters Julie Dave Thelen of North Platte, NE, Kathy Don Bringle of Waukee, Paula Landgraf of Iowa City, Anne Mark Miller of Adel, Carol Pat Lenhart of Storm Lake; her brothers, Jerry Barb Landgraf of Albuquerque, NM, Tom Sue Landgraf of Mason City, and John Joyce Landgraf of Storm Lake. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her son, Eric Dahms and her parents Raymond and Dorothy Landgraf.

Sue Schipfmann was born March 11, 1946 in Storm Lake, Iowa the beloved daughter of Raymond and Dorothy Drey Landgraf. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Early, Iowa, graduating in 1964. She graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Omaha, NE. She spent her life in the nursing profession and was most recently employed at Village Ridge Assisted Living. She always had a special connection with all of her patients and enjoyed her time at work. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, needlepoint, and traveling.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and Gems of Hope, Inc. in remembrance of her talents and services that she provided to her patients throughout the years.

Joan Carol Technik
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on July 26, 1937

Joan Carol Technik, 73, of Cedar Rapids, died after a 42 year struggle with MS, at Manor Care Nursing and Rehab, Wednesday, September 29, 2010. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 9:30 Saturday at the chapel.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Bob; children, Steve (Kit) Technik, of Charlotte, NC, Teri (Brad) Roalson and Connie (Drew) Hatfield, all of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Sarah (Erik) Rosenwood, Joseph Technik, Spc. Benjamin and Jacob Roalson; great grandchildren, Ella Marie and soon to be Baby Boy Rosenwood; sister-in-law, Joanne (Robert) Matthiessen; and nephew, Corey Matthiessen. She was preceded in death by her parents, and infant sister, Linda Kay.

Joan was born July 26, 1937 in Cedar Rapids to Carl and Geraldine Jacobsen. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1955 where she was involved in many school activities, including band, orchestra and drum majorette. She married Robert Technik in St. Louis, MO on March 3, 1956. Joan was elected queen of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, an international sorority. She was an accordion teacher for Boddicker School of Music. Joan was an avid golfer and won many tournaments in the Cedar Rapids area. She liked to bowl and play bridge. Joan was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday School.

Joan’s greatest love was for her family and spending time together with them. She will be deeply missed.

Memorials may be directed to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or St. Luke’s Hospice.
