Elizabeth Betty Schreiner, 87, of Cedar Rapids died Friday, September 7, 2007 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Services: 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Rev. Harlan Gillespie officiating. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friend may visit from 5 to 7 PM on Monday, September 8, at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel- 1221 First Ave SW.
Betty celebrated her many years with her beloved husband of 64 years, Wesley. She was loved by her daughter Jane Rick of Memphis, TN, sons Scott of Owatonna, MN and Richard Sandra of Sioux Falls SD, 6 wonderful grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and her sister Roberta, of Iowa Falls. She was preceded in death by one grandson, one brother, and one sister.
Betty was born October 14 1919, to Ilo and Nina Basham in Independence, Iowa. She married
Wesley on May 2, 1943 in West Union. She graduated from Upper Iowa University with a teaching certificate. She taught elementary school in Webb, Dumont, and West Union, Iowa. She was a homemaker, active in church by teaching Sunday school many years and chairing church circles, served as election judge for many years, and enjoyed making crafts and playing bridge. She was a 50 year member and past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her family moved to Cedar Rapids in 1972, having previously lived Green Bay, WI, and Sioux Falls, SD.
The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Their care and unwavering support to Betty and her family during her final weeks has meant so much to our family, and we are eternally grateful. We also would like to thank all the wonderful family and friends who have provided love and friendship to Betty and Wesley. We appreciate you all.
In lieu of flowers, the Schreiner family would appreciate memorial be given to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy or to St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Thank You.
Myrtle Yardley

Myrtle L. Yardley, 90, of the Winslow House Care Center died there on Monday March 26, 2007 after an extended illness. Services at 11 AM on Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Kay Slocum will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Wed.
Survivors include a son, Richard Wood and his wife, Dorothy, and a stepson, Kenneth Yardley both of Cedar Rapids, two sisters, Betty Abernathy and her husband, Robert of Cedar Rapids and Darlene Kerr of Coggon. She is also survived by three step-grandchildren, Cindy Kevin First, Brian Amy Yardley and Diana Andrew Forman and 4 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Charles, Russell, Robert and Donald Moss and a sister, Ellen Comreid.
Myrtle was born on April 3, 1916 in Anamosa, the daughter of Charles and Olive Miner Moss. She married
Earl Wood in April of 1933. He died in 1964. She then married
Lorm D. Yardley on May 12, 1967 in Cedar Rapids. He died in 2000. Myrtle worked at Collins Radio as an assembler and retired from there after 24 years of service. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries. A memorial fund has been established in Myrtle's name.
Oscar Anchel Siegel

Oscar Anchel Siegel, 90, of 1725 Apple Wood Place NE, died Wednesday September 5, 2007 in Mercy Medical Center following a long illness.
Services: 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Temple Judah by Rabbi Aaron Sherman. Burial: Eben Israel cemetery. Cedar Memorial Grant Wood Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his children, Joyce Siegel of Pinckney, Michigan, Craig Siegel and wife Kathy of Tucson, Arizona, Jary Siegel of Cedar Rapids and Ken Siegel and wife Kris of Cedar Rapids, and Scott Siegel of Pacific City, Oregon, a brother, Leonard Siegel of Scottsdale, Arizona, a sister, Gertrude Cohen of Del Ray Beach, Florida, two grandchildren, David and Joshua Siegel. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
His wife Lillian and Son, Stuart preceded him in death.
Oscar was born May 7, 1917 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Joseph & Bessie. He married
Lillian Goldstein on February 4, 1945 in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. Degree in Business. Oscar served in the Army as a 2nd Lietenant during World War II in the South Pacific and Camp Hulen, TX. After the service he joined his dad in the family business of Siegel Jewelry & Loan. Ossie continued as owner and operator with his two sons until his retirement in 2006. Oscar was a member of Temple Judah and was active with the Jewish Welfare Community Outreach program. He was also a member of El Kahir Shrine, Scottish Rite Temple and a 32nd Degree Mason. He was supportive of many local charities. He loved fishing, reading, tennis, golf, investing in the stock market and the great outdoors. Ossie was also an avid Hawkeye basketball and football fan. His greatest love was his wife of 60 years and his family. He will be remembered for being a gentle human being with the heart of a lion.

Irene M. Sedore, 97, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Ottumwa, died September 5, 2007 at Manor Care Center following a short illness. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, September 10, 2007 at Munterville Lutheran Church, Blakesburg, Iowa. Pastor Barbara Melaas-Swanson will officiate. Friends may call Monday at the church after 10:00 AM. Interment: Munterville Lutheran Church cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Survivors include her daughter Linda Markward and husband Dave of Cedar Rapids; her sister Evelyn Parker of Cedar Rapids; sister in law Jeanette Olson of Ottumwa; grandchildren Heather Cowan and husband Darin of East Moline, IL, Josh Markward of Chicago, Lindsay Anderson and husband Todd of East Moline, IL, and Brooke Markward of Chicago, IL; great grandson Carter Cowan; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Marie and Mildred, brothers Carl, Ralph, and Johnnie.
Irene M. Sedore was born October 15, 1909 in Gillespie, Illinois the beloved daughter of John and Anna Larson Olson. She was united in marriage to Leo L. Sedore on October 8, 1935 in Ottumwa, Iowa. Throughout her life she was very involved in her church through bible study, as well as teaching Sunday school in Ottumwa and First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. She will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many, and will be dearly missed.

Wayne Edwin Steele

Wayne Edwin "Bud" Steele, formerly of Rockaway Township, NJ died of natural causes on August 14th in his home in Cedar Rapids, IA. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Bud is survived by his brother, Captain Robert D. Steele; his children, Jeff Anna of King Hill, ID, Tim and his children Erik and Jillian of Hancock, NH, and Priscilla Craig Campbell, their children Maggie, Charles and Willa, and Craig's mother, Dorothy Campbell.
He was born July 27, 1923 in Riverside, CA to Carl and Margaret Steele. In 1934, the family moved to Rockville Center, NY. After graduating from South-side High School, Bud went on to earn a degree in civil engineering from Bucknell University, and one in forestry from the Forestry College at Syracuse University.
As a veteran of WW II, Bud served in China with the U.S. Marine Corps, and retired with the rank of Major from the active reserves in 1957.
Bud met Marguerite Maggie Gill at Bucknell University. They married
on April 21, 1945 in Lansdowne, PA. They had three children, Jeffrey, Timothy and Priscilla. Bud and Maggie had been married
for 51 years when Maggie passed away in November 1996.
Bud worked his entire career in the forest products industry. First, with Gamble-Yale Corp. of Bridgeport, CT, then independently as Wayne E. Steele, Inc. in Denville, NJ.
From 1965 to 1970, Bud served on the Board of the Morris Hills School District. He was a long-time member of the Rockaway Valley Methodist Church where he served proudly as bell-ringer. He also served in the Rockaway Township Shade Tree Commission and the Board of Directors of Microspec, Corp.
Bud was an intrepid outdoorsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing. He won many national awards for his carving of working decoys. On his very first report card his teacher wrote "Wayne is a great little visitor!" a well-observed fact that remained a constant throughout his life.

Carrie Marguerite Scott

Carrie Marguerite Scott, 101, a resident of Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died there Friday, August 10, 2007, following a short illness. Services will be at 2 PM Monday in Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Duane Hix officiating. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the church after 1 PM on Monday. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include two daughters Nancy Domer and husband George of Marion, Iowa, and Jacqueline Steiner and husband Clifford "Jack" of Powell, Wyoming, three grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1980, a brother, a sister, a granddaughter, and one great grandson.
Carrie was born October 13, 1905 near Mt. Vernon, Iowa. She married
Edward J. Scott on September 16, 1926 in Cedar Rapids. She was employed by the Cedar Rapids School District as a cashier for the Arthur School cafeteria for nearly 25 years. She was a longtime member of Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church where she was a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and a member of the Mariners club, plus many other committees.

John Wieneke

John L. Wieneke, 75, 1321 3rd Ave SW passed away Sunday, August 10, 2003 at St. Luke's Hospital following a brief illness. Services will be private. Arrangements by Turner West Funeral Home.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Wieneke, Daryl Wieneke and wife Ana Jimenez and Jeri Wieneke all of Tucson, AZ; two daughters, Janet Benish and husband Darrell and Jackie Wieneke all of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Rose Wieneke of Cedar Rapids and Mary George Kauffman of Marion; a brother, Albert Marge Wieneke of Fairfax; the mother of his children, June Wieneke of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Monica Andy Reeves, Darrek, Dustin, and David Benish, Robert Michael and Alexandar Jimenez-Wieneke, Michelle Bill Kirk, and John Wieneke; and great grandchildren, Vanessa Kirk and Sydney Reeves.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and six brothers and sisters, Frances Wieneke, Eugene Wieneke, Robert Wieneke, Bertha John Mallie, William Wieneke, and Patricia Wieneke.
John was born October 17, 1927 in Cedar Rapids the beloved son of Charles Phillip Wieneke and Otillie Anna Muller Wieneke. He was a test technician at Rockwell Collins for 25 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of I.B.E.W. Local #1362, and a member of Country Friend's Dance Club. John was a very special loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was an avid dancer and roller skater who loved and enjoyed teaching both skating and dancing to his family and friends. His family will miss his dimpled smile, warmth, guidance, and especially his green thumb. Dad was fond of saying he was a wealth of useless information, when in reality, it was always useful. In addition to his useful information, he was always ready amd able to repair anything whether it was as a plumber, mechanic, electrician, construction worker or anything that someone needed. We will remember John for his love and enjoyment of family and friends, his genrosity, and his unique loving personality. He will truly be missed by everyone.
