Donald J. Ungs, 80, of 859 Kerry Lane SE, died Tuesday, September 6, 2005, in his home following a long illness. Funeral Mass at 9 AM Saturday in St. Matthew's Catholic Church with Rev. Mark Osterhaus officiating. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Rockford, Illinois at 3 PM on Saturday. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday with a scriptural wake service beginning at 5 PM.
Survivors include his wife Rita, his children, Deborah Wenger Ungs and husband Ron, Ellen Angell and husband Don, and Anne Tapp and husband Ricky, all of Rockford, Illinois, three sons Steven and wife Carolyn, and Matt and wife Kristina all of Rockford, and Greg and wife Delores of Wichita Falls, Texas, a sister Marcella Carney of Cedar Falls, Iowa, three brothers Dennis of Denver, Iowa, Clem of Waterloo, Iowa, and Robert and wife Delores of Readlyn, Iowa, seven grandchildren, Kirsten Basco and husband David, Libby Ungs, Seth Boomgarden, Beth Angell, Zachery and Katie Tapp, and Julia Ungs. Also survived by a step daughter Jane Monserud and husband Gerald of Iowa City, Iowa, and step son Tom Marbach and wife Janet of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Mae Rita.
Don was born September 3, 1925 in North Washington, Iowa to Edmund and Frances Roethler Ungs. He married
Mae Rita Jenn on September 10, 1949 in Ionia, Iowa. She died in 1990. He married
Rita Marbach on May 15, 1993, in Cedar Rapids. Don was a printer for the Rockford Register Star News for 35 years retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, and the Loves Park, Illinois, VFW Post No 9759. Don was a softball pitcher in a semi pro league in Cherry Valley, Illinois with a single season best of 33 wins and 2 losses. He also played against softball great Eddie Fehner The King and His Court. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears Fan. He served in the US Army as a First Sgt and was in the Battle of the Bulge during WW II.

Mary Aimone Saluri

Mary A. Saluri, 89, of Cottage Grove Place, died Tuesday June 5 following a long illness.
Mary is survived by her son Tom Saluri, Jr. and his wife Judy of Marion, her daughter Diana Russo and her husband Mark of Iowa City, and her daughter Rosemary Morris and her husband Michael of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by her grandchildren Michael Saluri, and Jenna and Carrie Morris. Her husband Tom died in 2003.
Mary Aimone was born in Millwood, Pennsylvania in 1918 to Francesca and George Aimone.
She attended Seton Hill College in Pennsylvania and received a Masters Degree in nutrition from the University of Iowa. She married
Tom Saluri of Des Moines in 1942 and served overseas in the U.S. Army as a dietician during World War II.
Mary was a much- loved wife, mother and grandmother who devoted herself to those she loved. She was full of life, happiness, humor and intelligence. She loved children, and watching the joy she created with them was magical.
The family would like to express its great appreciation to the staff of Cottage Grove Place who cared for Mary so lovingly in her final year.
A memorial service and reception will be held at Cedar Memorial on Friday, June 8 at 11 a.m. Donations may be made in Mary's name to the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program, 206 Collins Road NE, 52402.

Charles Babe Richard Swacka, 80, of Cedar Rapids, died June 3, 2007 following a short illness. Funeral Services 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 7, 2007, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. William B. Harnish will officiate. Friends may call from 6 to 8 P.M. on Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Survivors include his brother Richard J. Swacka of Cedar Rapids; sisters Blanche Lassen and Dorothy Krotz both of Cedar Rapids; special niece Betty Randy Schultz of Atkins; nephews Larry Lassen and Dennis Terri Lassen of Salem, Oregon; niece Sharon Rick Olson of Salem, Oregon; as well as several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Mary Swacka, and his brother Bernard Swacka.
Charles Richard Swacka was born October 26, 1926 in Cedar Rapids, the beloved son of Charles and Mary C. Kovarik Swacka. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed for over 20 years at B.G. Brecke Inc. as a plumber. He was a 60 year member of Local #125 Plumbers and Pipe fitters Union. He was also a member of American Legion Hanford Post #5. He enjoyed traveling, going to casinos, and fishing at the family cabin on the Wapsie. He also enjoyed baseball and played in the M&J; leagues, as well as enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Charles' honor to St. Luke's' Hospice.
Reva Marie Trumper

Reva M. Trumper, 88, of Marion, died May 5, 2010 at the English Valley Care Center, North English, following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Marion Christian Church. Rev. Brice Hughes will officiate. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, May 7, 2010 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery.
Surviving are her husband of 73 years, Alfred; daughters Beverly Draves of Marion and Barbara Allen and husband Duane of North English; grandchildren David Draves of Marion, Chad (Shelly) Allen of North English, Shawn (Jennifer) Allen of Williamsburg; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and god-daughter Joanne Wegner and husband Dennis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Ronnie Trumper, son-in-law Ron Draves, grandson Marcus Draves, and siblings Marietta, Dorothy, Charlotte, Ramona, Charles, and George.
Reva Marie Trumper was born September 30, 1921 in Seymour, Iowa the daughter of Charlie and Marie (Trimble) Seals. She married
Alfred Trumper on December 26, 1936 in Unionville, MO. She worked for many years at Wilson’s Meat Packing. She was a member of Marion Christian Church. She enjoyed time spent with her family and friends, and reading. She will be greatly missed.

Dorothea L. Sapp, 99, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully at home, Thursday, May 31, 2007, after a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Kenwood Park United Methodist Church by the Rev. Laura Smith. Private family burial: Waveland cemetery, Prairie City, Iowa. A visitation will be held today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Grant Wood Chapel.
Survivors include a son, Charles Nancy Sapp of Cherry Hill, NJ; 2 granddaughters, Jennifer Pedro Cordova of West Chester, PA, and Theresa John Pacharis of Reading, PA; and a great grandson, Reis Pacharis.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Floyd.
Dorothy was born January 24, 1908 in Crofton, NE to Charles and Lucinda Bonard Woods. She married
Floyd W. Sapp on September 4, 1937 near George, Iowa. He died in 1991. Dorothy received a B.S. degree in Landscape Architecture from Iowa State College. She taught school near George until her marriage. Dorothy wrote the Garden column for the Gazette for almost 20 years. She was responsible for several public landscaping projects in Cedar Rapids and Marion, including the gardens at Noelridge Park. She also taped books for the Iowa Commission For The Blind. She was a member of Kenwood Park United Methodist Church.

Lenny J. Swanson, 69, of Willow Gardens died there on Wed. May 30, 2007 after a long illness. Memorial services at 11 AM on Monday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia, three sons, David Kathy of Marion, Robert Brenda of Van Horne and Michael Sheryl of Marion, a sister, Jackie Jim Olson and two brothers, Richard Joy of Gulfport, Mississippi and John Barb of Littleton, Colorado. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Alison and Rachel. He was preceded in death by his parents and a half brother, Robert.
Lenny was born on March 7, 1938 in Libertyville, Ill. the son of Fredrick and Geraldine Rodd Swanson. He married
Patricia M. Wedge on Feb. 6, 1960 in Mason City. Lenny was the owner and operator as well as sales representative at S and O Sales, Inc for many years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed the Hawkeyes, Cubs, Vikings and proudly served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. A memorial fund has been established in Lenny's name.
