Daniel J. Semelroth, 57, of 924 15th St SW, died Thursday September 18, 2008 in Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy following a long illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, where friends may call on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. The Rev. Joan Erbe will officiate.
Survivors include his mother, Amy Semelroth of Cedar Rapids, his aunt, uncles, cousins and friends.
His father, Howard Semelroth preceded him in death.
Daniel was born July 5, 1951 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Howard and Amy Semelroth. Daniel worked for MCI. He was a member of the Cedar Rapids Islamic Center and attended Trinity Lutheran Church. Daniel enjoyed sports and the Chicago Cubs was his favorite. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Kim Robert Steveley, 71, 3621 Bel Air Dr. SE died Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Northbrook Manor following a long illness. Services: 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Surviving in addition to his wife Julia are two sons, Marc Steveley of Austin, Texas and David Steveley of Ft. Collins, Colorado; a daughter, Tracy Cullinan of Worthington, Minnesota; a brother, Kip Steveley of Rochester Hills, Michigan; and two grandchildren, Nicole Cullinan and Roman Steveley.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Kim was born July 6, 1937 in Evanston, IL the son of Robert and Eleanor Shobe Steveley. He married
Julia Ann Jarchow on August 8, 1959 in Sumner, IA. Kim was an architect from 1959 until his retirement in 2002. He was a former member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club for several years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Mercy.

Jerome V. 'Jerry' Uhlman, 78, of 4425 Westchester Dr. NE. died Sat. May 3, 2003 at St. Lukes Hospital from complications from Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Services at 1 PM on Wed. at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. William Harnish will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday. The casket will be closed on Wed.
Survivors include a son, David and his wife, Debra Of Redondo Beach, CA., a daughter, Janis Etzcorn and husband, John of Kalamazoo, Mich., and a brother, James of Mesa, AZ. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Jason Uhlman of Reno, NV., Ryan and Madelyn Etzcorn of Kalamazoo, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Joe and Robert and two sisters, Juanita and Jeanette.
Jerry was born on June 16, 1924 in Des Moines, the son of Joseph and Maxine Uhlman. He served in WWII in the Army Corp of Engineers, landing in France on D-Day. He moved to Cedar Rapids in 1965 to serve as District Manager for the Equitable. Jerry was still an active agent for AXA Advisors/The Equitable with over 60 years of service to his customers across eastern Iowa. He was married
to Marilyn St. John for 27 years and to Sonja Dunlap who remained a close friend. In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be given to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Jerry's name.

Judith L. Snyder, 63, of the Hiawatha Care Center died Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at the Center following a long illness. Services: 10:00 A.M. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home by Chaplain Joe Kane of Mercy Hospice. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 PM to 8PM. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery.
Surviving is a brother, Rick Snyder Marlene of Kokomo, Indiana; three nephews, Aaron, Kyle Jessica and Chase; one great nephew, Owen; and a special friend and caregiver, Marsha Rasmussen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Kenneth L. Snyder, Jr.
Judy was born December 12, 1944 in Cedar Rapids the daughter of Kenneth L. and Elaine H. Campbell Snyder. She worked at Rockwell Collins from 1963 until December of 1999. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and the Tri-T.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Hiawatha Care Center and to Hospice of Mercy for the wonderful care given to Judy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Breast Cancer Research or to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease".

David Joseph Schwers, 53, died July 13, 2008 in his home following a sudden illness. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Rev. John Gossman will officiate. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where a prayer service will begin at 6:30 PM. Inurnment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his daughter Charity Schwers of South Carolina; his mother Leota Schwers of Cedar Rapids; sisters Patricia Ackerman and husband Joseph of Spencer, and Paula Schwers of Marion; nieces Grace and Jennifer, and nephews Paul and Bryan; uncle Charles Gallagher of California; and two aunts, Agnes Irving of Idaho, and Faye Gallagher of Brooklyn, IA.
He was preceded in death by his father Alfred A. Schwers.
David Joseph Schwers was born September 6, 1954 in Cedar Rapids the son of Alfred Arthur and Leota Elizabeth Gallagher Schwers. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was employed as a supervisor at US Corrugator. He enjoyed reading, gardening, hunting, fishing, and watching Tony Stewart race in NASCAR. He was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, and friend who will be greatly missed.

H. David Springer, 90, of 3505 English Glen Drive, Marion, died at St. Luke's Hospital on Saturday, June 21, 2008, after a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2008, at First Congregational United Church of Christ by the Rev. David Hohmann. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 30th from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
David is survived by two daughters, Nancy Roland Raim of Marion and Janice Springer Susan Weier of Grinnell; a step daughter, Valerie O'Brien of Cleveland, TX; a brother, Charles Springer of McMinnville, OR; five grandchildren, David Cheryl Shannon, Christie Dave Goodman, Katy Paul Simon, Jay Margaret Raim, and Janelle Raim-Bockhaus; six great grandchildren, Asa and Chelsea Raim, Joshua and Jessica Shannon, and Lucia and Ella Simon; and his best friend, Evelyn Keller.
David was preceded in death by his wives, Arlene and Patsy; his grandson, Perry Bockhaus; and two brothers, Harold and Fred Springer.
David was born on March 2, 1918 in Cleveland, OH to David and Mary Havice Springer. He married
Arlene Wimmer on April 22, 1939 in Cleveland, OH. She died in 1975. He married
Patsy Riley on September 2, 1977 in Cedar Rapids. She died in 1988. He was a foreman at Swift and Company for 25 years and then at Wilson Foods for over 21 years, retiring in 1983.
David was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ and the All Church Singles, the Kiwanis Golden K, and a volunteer at the food bank.
Memorials may be made to his church or the Cedar Valley Humane Society.
Betty Mae Sandberg

Betty Mae Sandberg, 86, of 4300 Maureen Ct. SE, died Thursday, June 19, 2008 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy following an extended illness. There will be a Time of Remembrance at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Episcopal Church, where friends may visit with the family after 11:00 a.m. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery for Betty's family at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her son Michael and wife Leslee of Cedar Rapids, and two grandchildren Emily and Sally Sandberg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband LaVerne C. "Sandy" Sandberg.
Betty was born October 24, 1921 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the daughter of Rhuben and Margureite Donisthorpe Leinbaugh. She married
Laverne C. Sandberg on July 5, 1946 in Cedar Rapids. Betty was an operator for the Northwestern Bell Company and Iowa Manufacturing for many years. She was a life member of the VFW, and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII.
Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor's choice in Betty's name.
