William E. 'Bill' Ulmer, 56, of 500 Tory Lane, Marion, entered into eternal life with His Savior and Lord following a sudden illness Sunday, September 22, 2002. Services at 2 PM Wednesday in Immanuel Baptist Church. Rev. David Miller of Northbrook Baptist Church will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday and at the church after 1 PM on Wednesday.
Survivors include his wife Samantha, son Darin Ulmer and wife Sara of Cedar Falls, daughter Daphne Ulmer of Cedar Rapids, grandchildren, Jordan, whom he raised and loved as his son, Lainey, Selah, Kenan, Miriam, Micah, and Joshua, his Father Ernest William Ulmer of Prescott Valley, Arizona, a sister Nancy Watson of Willcox, Arizona, a nephew Kevin and a niece Tammy, and his mother-in-law who lived with Bill and Samantha, 'Mimi' Ruth Channell. He was preceded in death by his mother Francis Bratten Ulmer.
Bill was born on February 11, 1946, in Topeka, Kansas, then spent his childhood years in Tempe, AZ, where he excelled in high school track and field, holding records for many years in discus and shot-put. He attended Arizona State University and was a member of the Track and Field Team. He graduated in 1969.
Bill married Samantha Channell on June 2, 1967 in Tempe, Arizona.
Bill enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, reading, teaching his Adult Sunday School Class, and spending time with his wife, children, and seven precious grandchildren. He was a wonderful example and role model of a loving father and grandfather. He was greatly loved by all of his family and will be missed more than words can express.
Bill's favorite scripture passage was Philippians 3:10-11 'I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.' This was his goal in life and his victory in death.
Memorial donations may be given to the Northbrook Baptist Church.

Warren L. "Bud" Summy
Born in Waterloo, Iowa on December 2, 1924
Departed on May 24, 2009. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Warren L. “Bud” Summy, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died May 24, 2009 at his home following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Clinton Jeffers will officiate. Friends may call Wednesday, May 27, 2009 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Vinton American Legion.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Dorothy, of Cedar Rapids; his sister Doris (Lee) Laton, his brother Bill(Mary), his step sister Nadine (Bob) Hanneman all of Vinton.

He was preceded in death by his mother Lena in 1926; his father Frank, in 1964, and his stepmother LaVon, in 2002.

Warren was on born December 2, 1924 in Waterloo, Iowa. He was proud to be a U.S. Veteran. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946 and enjoyed telling everyone about the USS Nashville and his tour in the Pacific. He was a member of the American Legion for 64 years and a lifetime member of the VFW.

He married Dorothy L. Ahrendsen on October 22, 1955 in Cedar Rapids.

He was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Hawkeyes and watched many of their games. He was also an avid reader of news magazines and a volunteer for the Witwer Center. He was also an organ donor.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The American Heart Association, The Alzheimer’s Association, or to a charity of your choice.

Jane Toy Stevenson
Born in Rouseville, PA on August 17, 1922
Departed on May 28, 2009. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Jane Toy Stevenson, 86, 100 Thompson Drive, Cedar Rapids, and most recently a resident of Ridgeview Assisted Living, died Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Services: Private. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Monday from 4-7 p.m. where a wake service will begin at 7:00p.m.

Survivors include her children, Judy Hronek (Jim) of Madison, Wisconsin, Linda Hansen of Cedar Rapids and David Stevenson (Jan Mullin) of Swisher, 4 grandchildren, Beth Holznagel (Gary), Bob Hronek (Kathy), Scott Hansen and Brian Hansen, 4 great grandchildren, Katelyn Hronek, Jake Hronek, Austin Holznagel and Aubrey Holznagel.

She was preceded in death by her husband John, sister, Joyce Kulling and brother, Jimmy Toy.

Jane was born August 17, 1922 in Rouseville, Pennsylvania, daughter of Leroy and Nevada Feeley Toy. She married John R. Stevenson there on June 5, 1942. Jane was employed at Iowa National Mutual Insurance Company in the claims department for 18 years retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Elmcrest Country Club and Elks Club. She enjoyed trips to the casino, shopping for shoes and was an avid reader. Jane was a real card player. She thoroughly enjoyed getting together with her Bridge Groups to play Bridge and Gin Rummy. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staffs of Ridgeview Assisted Living and the Mercy Hospice House.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the National MS Society and the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.

Patricia Jean Sweeney
Born in Desoto, WI on August 9, 1934

Patricia Jean Sweeney, 74, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at her granddaughter, Vicki’s home. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ludmila Catholic Church. Interment: St. John cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel with a vigil service at 6 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel.

Pat is survived by son, Bob (Amy) Sweeney Jr. of Prairie City; grandchildren, Vicki (Jeff) Schwab, Tammi (James) Smith, and Suzanne Sweeney, all of Cedar Rapids; sister Annie Sweeney of Savannah, IL.; and great grandchildren, Morgan, Austin, Bailee, and Collin. She was preceded in death by daughters, Linda and Vicky; and brother, Pete.

Pat was born on August 9, 1934 in Desoto, WI to George and Sadie Massie. She married Robert “Bob” Sweeney on November 17, 1952 in Hanover, IL. He died in July, 2003. She worked as a secretary for many years; most recently at Tim Estlund’s Law Office. She loved to play bingo and enjoyed quiet times at home surrounded by her family.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Keith LeRoy Stolp

Departed on June 24, 2009. Resided in Rural Watkins, Iowa.

Keith LeRoy Stolp, 66, of rural Watkins, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009, in his home following a long illness. Services will be held at 1 PM Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. William Harnish will officiate. Burial with military honors in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 to service time Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.

Surviving to honor his memory are his wife of 41 years Sharon, three daughters Musetta (Niels) Christensen of Cedar Rapids, Kimberley (James) Berry of Vinton, and Rebecca (Matt) Stolp of Marion, and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Keith was born September 12, 1942 in McComb, Illinois to Luther and Mabel Hitz Stolp. He married Sharon Lacock on November 18, 1967 in Kingston Mines, Illinois. He was a self employed auto mechanic and had farmed in Illinois. He was a peacetime US Air Force Veteran, and loved to fish.

Military honors provided by Marion American Legion Post No 298.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.

Wayne Lee Walter
Born in Luana, Iowa on August 30, 1931
Departed on April 1, 2004. Resided in Marion, IA.

Wayne Lee Walter, 72, of 2881 28th Ave. in Marion died Thursday, April 1, 2004 at the Banner Baywood Hospital in Mesa, AZ. of a heart attack. Memorial services at 11 AM on Sat. April 24, 2004 at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion where there will also be military rites. Rev. Dennis Johnson will officiate. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann, two sons, Michael Stacey of Urbandale and Alan Kelly of Kansas City, MO., a daughter, Michelle Kevin Clauson of Cedar Rapids, a brother, Bill of Grinnell and a sister, Maureen Lien of Fairfield, Ohio. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Allissa and Zachary Clauson and Alex and Jacob Walter, sisters in law, Helen Bullen of Iowa Falls, Marge Bullen of Nashua and a brother in law, Leo Fisher of North Liberty. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Wayne was born on Aug. 30, 1931 in Luana, the son of Karl and Minerva Walter. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1961. He married Mary Ann Bullen on Dec. 9, 1961 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Iowa City. Wayne was an engineer and retired from Rockwell after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection and served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Memorial donations may be given to the Iowa Chapter of the American Heart Association or to Camp Courageous in Wayne's name. Military rites by the Marion American Legion Post No. 298.
