Ricardo James “Rick” Snitker, 62, of 4500 Wendy Lee Lane NW, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2010, at his home from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday at First Congregational Church. Rev. David Hohmann will officiate. Burial with military honors in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 PM Sunday in Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife Janet Bicknese, his mother Betty Snitker of Cedar Rapids, son Joseph and wife Carey Snitker of Marion, two daughters Barbra Snitker and Clare and husband Matt Rood all of Cedar Rapids, three sisters Bonnie Tiernan-Ehrenberger and husband Frank of North Liberty, Iowa, Ann Snitker and husband Tony Patti of Amana, and Jan Croskrey and husband Craig of Cedar Rapids, four grandsons, his former wife Pam Chase of Marion, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father James Snitker.
Rick was born January 11, 1948 in Waukon, Iowa. He married
Janet Bicknese on January 31, 2004 in Cedar Rapids. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He spent many years selling heavy materials handling equipment having his own company and later as a partner for Indoff Inc. He was an active member of First Congregational Church, Cedar Rapids Moose Lodge, and Cedar Rapids YMCA. He loved spending time with his family and friends at his cabin on the Mississippi river. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Military honors will be by Marion American Legion Post No 298.

Lily Mae Sellers, age 81, died on August 18 at Meth-Wick Community in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was born August 10, 1929 in George, Iowa. She married
Theron V. Sellers in March of 1948 and they lived most of their married
life in Newton, Iowa where they raised their family. In 1980, Mrs. Sellers moved with her husband to Jefferson, IA where she lived for 24 years before returning to Newton in 2004.
“Lil” is survived by her daughter, Laurisa Sellers and her husband, Arnold Shore, of Gloucester, Massachusetts; her son, Steven Sellers and his wife, Trisha, of Marion, Iowa; and four grandchildren: Megan Threlkeld of Granville, Ohio; Brian Threlkeld of Portland, Maine; Katie Sellers of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Laura Sellers of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Betty Dray of Davenport, Iowa; Mrs. Patty Duncalf of Milan, Illinois; Mrs. Katie Krahling of Ashton, IA; and one brother, Mr. Jim Botsford of Zeeland, Michigan. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Francis Moore of Newton, Iowa.
Lil enjoyed sewing, playing cards, garage sales, cooking, and most of all, spending time with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, and three sisters.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 24th at The Neighborhood Church, 701 25th Street NE, Cedar Rapids, IA with private graveside services at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 25th at Newton Memorial Gardens, Newton, IA. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Lily Sellers Memorial Fund, PO Box 221 in Marion, IA 52302 to benefit the employees and staff at Meth-Wick.

Donna Meinen Steggall Alger, 72, of Cedar Rapids died in her home Monday, August 2, 2010. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Jude Catholic Church by the Rev. Mark Reasoner. Visitation will be today from 4-8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel and after 9:00 a.m. at the church on Thursday. Burial: St. John’s Catholic cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Cathy (Randy) Mathews of Marion, Annette (Steve Barkwill) Ulch of Atkins, and Blaine (Lisa) Steggall of Marion, a brother, Richard (Willie) Meinen of Medford, Oregon, a sister in law, Cheryl Franklin of Cedar Rapids, her grandchildren, Callie Welsh, Amy Welsh, Lisa Welsh, Brian Ulch, Joey Ulch, Brady Steggall, Macy Steggall and Johanna Steggall, her great grandchildren, Chase Welsh, Avery Moomey, Amaya Doss, and Kylie Doss, a step grandson, Spencer Mathews and a first cousin, Joan Frye of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Donna was born March 3, 1938 in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of William and Mary Reisdorf Meinen. She was employed at Farmstead Foods for many years and retired from the Lason Company. Donna loved her grandchildren and attended all of their events. She was an avid sports fan, card player and loved to travel and fish. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and the Moose Lodge. Donna was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Family would like to extend a special thanks to Mercy Hospice and Dr. Jolynn Glanzer.

Harold D. Usher 93, of 2700 First Ave, Marion, died Friday, April 18, 2008, in St. Luke's Hospital following a long illness. Services at 1 PM Monday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer of St. Paul's United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial with military honors in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Sunday and at the chapel after 12:30 PM Monday.
Survivors include his son Gary and wife Barb of Marion, grandson Chad Usher of Cedar Rapids, two brothers Delbert and Paul both of Cedar Rapids, and sister Donna Mittan of Blairstown. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and three sisters Imogene Kruse, Alice Swinton, and Pearl Usher.
Harold was born January 30, 1915 in Chickasaw County, Iowa to Otto and Sylvia DeGroff Usher. He married
Eleanor Myrle Hanson on June 14, 1935 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She died January 16, 2007. He was a US Navy Seabees Veteran. Harold was a farmer from 1947 to 1978, and also a foreman at LaPlant Choate Allis Chalmers from 1935 to 1966. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, and a member of the Marion American Legion Post 298. He enjoyed woodworking, talking about old times, and could fix anything.

June Rose Smith, 94, a resident of Hallmar at Mercy Medical Center, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2010. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday at the Geneseo United Methodist Church, 3127 115th Street, Buckingham, Iowa. Inurnment in the Geneseo cemetery. Rev. Christie John will officiate. Visitation from 12:30 PM to service time Thursday at the church.
Survivors include, great niece Sue (Larry) Kroemer of Cedar Rapids, nieces and nephews, Reece and Cal Lambert, Darlene Peters, Marcia Bengston, Karen Langan, and Judy Kieler, and other great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven brothers and sisters, and a niece Eugena Sears.
June was born June 8, 1916 in Tama County, Iowa to Calvin and Clara Belk Vanderheyden. She married
Roger Hermon Smith on December 26, 1940 at Geneseo. He preceded her in death on December 30, 1992.
June was the first woman to be an accredited Air Port Executive in Iowa. She served as assistant to the director at the Waterloo airport. She was Past President and District Governor of Quota Club of Iowa. She loved cooking, playing the piano and organ professionally, and spending time with her family and friends.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Marguerite Rose Shores, 99, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away on 7.30.10 at the Hospice of the Valley in Mesa, Arizona.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Kathleen Shores of Albuquerque, NM, her grandsons Tim Slaman( wife Gloria) three great grandchildren, Michael, Sofia and Kevin Slaman of Chandler, Arizona, Dr. Jim Slaman and step granddaughter, Taylor Slaman of Albuquerque.
Marguerite Shores was preceded in death by her husband Gordon Shores and her parents, Ludwig and Lottie Rubek.
She was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on July 10, 1911. She graduated from Grant High School in 1929 and was valedictorian of her class. She attended business college in Cedar Rapids and was later employed by Penick and Ford for a number of years. She moved to Arizona permanently about 10 years ago and had wintered in Arizona many years prior. She enjoyed many wonderful years, traveling, dancing, participating in water aerobics, enjoying the beauty of Arizona and always the "Life of the Party".
A memorial service will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories on 9.24.10 at 11:00 AM and there will also be a visitation after 10:00 AM. The burial mass will be held at St. Matthews Catholic Church at 1:00 PM. The family requests no flowers. Should you wish to make a donation in her memory, please send to:
