Doris Elizabeth Timmons, 90, of 1747 Richmond Rd. NE, died Wednesday, October 18, 2006, in Northbrook Manor Care Center following a lingering illness. Services at 10 AM Monday in Noelridge Christian Church with Rev. Douglas Miller officiating. Graveside services and interment at 1:30 PM in Garden of Memories cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 6 PM on Sunday and at the church after 9:30 AM on Monday.
Survivors include a son Don of Cedar Rapids, three grandsons Dustin of Waterloo, and Joshua and Tyler both of Cedar Rapids, a sister Mary Jones of Cedar Rapids, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister Dorothy Newman, and a niece Shirley Mae Clingman.
Doris was born March 5, 1916 in Corning, Iowa to Rev Hugh Chester and Bernice Rhea Guy. She married LaVerne O. Timmons on September 7, 1941 in Hedrick, Iowa. He died in 1957. Doris was a member of Noelridge Christian Church. She worked at Donutland and was a teachers aid at Adams grade school for several years.
Memorial contributions may be made to Noelridge Christian Church, 7111 C Ave NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402.

Robert E. Yaw

Robert E. Yaw, 94, of 183 Ryecroft SE. died Thursday Dec. 20, 2007 at his home of pneumonia. Memorial services will be held at 11 AM on Friday Dec. 28, 2007 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Rev. Harlan Gillespie will officiate. Private family inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum Columbarium. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Corinne "Connie", two sons, Robert "Copper" and his wife, Kathy of Bradenton, Florida, Campbell and his friend, Paulette Morin of Arlington, Massachusetts and a step-son, Glen "Sandy" Harvey III of Sister Bay, Wisconsin. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Hunter, Walker and Devon.
Bob was born on Dec. 20, 1913 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Harry and Edith Laurence Yaw. He married Corinne L. "Connie" Lagerstrom on Dec. 24, 1976 in Van Nuys, California. Bob was the founder and owner of Souvenir Inc. until his retirement in 1984.
He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Past President of St. Lukes Foundation, on the board of directors for St. Lukes Hospital, the Y.M.CA., and the Experiment in International Living. He was active in the Promotional Products Association where he had been a member of their "Hall of Fame' and their board as well as proudly serving in the Army during WWII in the South Pacific in New Guinea.
Bob was extremely devoted to not only his family and friends but also the entire Rapids Community.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, the Cedar Rapids Symphony, Theater Cedar Rapids, the Cedar Rapids History Center or Indian Creek Nature Center in Bob's name.

Melissa Fern Thoren
Born in Iconium, Iowa on November 16, 1915

Melissa "Fern" Kenyon Thoren, 91, of 3255 Windward Street, Solon, died there, Thursday, June 14, 2007, after a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Shueyville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Tom Carver. Burial: 3 p.m. Monday at the Sunset View cemetery, Moulton, Iowa with services by Rev. Raymond Barnett. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Monday at the church.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph; 3 daughters Betty James Southern of Newton, Roxanne Ted Youngton of Cedar Rapids and Rhonda Mike Tullis of Marion; 2 sons, Robert Kenyon of Des Moines and, Ralph Jane Thoren of Fairmont, MN; 19 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.

Fern was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Rod Thoren; 2 sisters, Enid Duley and Mary Bradley; a brother, Gail Pangborn; her first husband, Alman Kenyon; and 2 grandchildren, Deborah Brown and Kerry Lynn Philipp.

Fern was born on November 16, 1915 in Iconium to Alvin and Georgia Miller Pangborn. She married Ralph Thoren in Newton on October 8, 1978. Fern was a supervisor at Acme Graphics for over 20 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of the Shueyville United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy or the Shueyville United Methodist Church.

Mary Jane Tietjen
Born in Ft. Dodge, Iowa on May 17, 1935

Mary Jane Tietjen 72, of 3440 Lilac Lane, Marion, died Thursday June 28, 2007, in Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a long illness. Services at 10:30 AM Monday in Faith Lutheran Church in Marion. Rev. John Albertson will officiate. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Sunday and at the church after 9:30 AM on Monday.
Survivors include a daughter Julie Hice and husband Don of Plano, Texas, a son Randy Tietjen and wife Challise of Sandy, Utah, and six grandchildren, Damon Hice and wife Amanda, Josh and John William Tietjen, Aurielle, Gabrielle, and Danielle Comeaux. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Mary was born May 17, 1935 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa to Oscar and Eleanor Petersen Engstrom. She married Donald R. Tietjen on April 2, 1955 in Boone, Iowa. He died in 2004. She was a administrative assistant at Rockwell Collins for many years retiring in 1991. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Marion where she was very active in the church choir. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, and the American Professional Secretary Association. She enjoyed shopping, golf, dancing, and spending time with her family.
Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church in Marion.

Marguerite C. Tehel
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on August 7, 1912
Departed on July 15, 2007. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Marguerite C. Tehel, 94, of North Brook Manor Care Center, died there Sunday, July 15, 2007, after a long illness. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints Catholic Church by the Rev. David O'Connor. Burial: Czech National cemetery. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. today at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel where friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Maggie is survived by a nephew, Bob Barbara Gelski of Moline; a great nephew Ken Karri Gelski of Silvis, IL and their children, Scott, Sam, and Sean Gelski; a niece, Karen Craig Dunlap of Central City; great nieces, Kathryn Shawn Walsh and their son, Brady of Cedar Rapids, Nancy Dunlap of Ames; and great nephews, Neill Dunlap of Central City, and Richard Peggy DeMeulenaere of Cedar Rapids.

Maggie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edward; and a sister, Celia Gelski.

Maggie was born August 7, 1912 in Cedar Rapids to Frank and Anna Kuda Christle. She married Edward J. Tehel there on September 6, 1932. He died in 1988. She retired from Iowa Electric after many years.

Judith A. Viggers

Judy A. Viggers, 68, of 4555 Westchester Dr. NE #A, died Saturday, April 28, 2007, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from injuries suffered in an accident while visiting family. Services will be at 11 AM Friday in Cedar Hills Community Church. Rev. Kent Landhuis and Dr. Leonard Ranson will officiate. Private entombment in Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday and after 10 AM on Friday. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Surviving to honor her memory are her husband Kenneth, three daughters Jill Thornton and husband Brad of Lincoln, Nebraska, Myrna DeWitt of Sioux City, Iowa, and Jan Franken of Parker, Colorado, two step-daughters Judi Camilletti and husband Steve of Wellsburg, West Virginia, and Heather Clevenger and husband Dan of Cincinnati, Ohio, three step sons David Viggers and wife Linda of Norwalk, Iowa, Tim Viggers and wife Kristi of Metamora, Illinois, and Keith Viggers and wife Kris of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, 24 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, her brother Dale Willey of Ankeny, Iowa, and sister Ruth Willey-Knox of Alexandria, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents Vern and Dorothy Bye Willey, and two grandsons Gabriel Viggers, and Cyrus Thornton.
Judy was born November 12, 1938 in rural Greene, Iowa. She married Kenneth N. Viggers on August 30, 1991 in Sioux City, Iowa. In Sioux City she was Clinic Manager for Family Practice Medical Clinics retiring in 1995. She was a faithful member of Cedar Hills Community Church serving as chairperson of the Worship Committee for many years. While in Sioux City she was the Morningside Reformed Church Music Director. She was also a member of the Iowa Group Medical Association.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cedar Hills Community Church, 6455 E. Avenue NW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 52405 in her name.

John L. Toussaint
Born in Allerton, IA on November 25, 1924

John L. "Jack" Toussaint, 82, 1300 13th Street NW A401 died Friday, July 20, 2007 at Methwick Woodlands following a long illness. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Wednesday, August 8th at 1:00 P.M. by The Rev. Harlen Gillespie and The Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer. The family will greet relatives and friends in the church parlors following the service.

Survivors include his wife Diane; a son, John, his wife Susan and their children, Elizabeth and Ted of Appleton, WI; a daughter, Carol Gannon, her husband David, and their son Sean of West Des Moines. He is also survived by a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Sue Eppel and their children, Jan Nelson, Jim Eppel, Julie Copping and their families; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Virgil and Marilyn Grubbe and their children, Michael Grubbe and Kathy Jansen and her family; an aunt, Alberta Toussaint and cousins, Katherine Hickerson, Betty Ross, Herb Toussaint, Robert Toussaint, Sandra Ross, and Joyce Feldman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Verda Toussaint; Betty, his first wife; Pearl and Vincent Eppel, mother and father-in-law; and Merle and Edward Peterson, mother and father-in-law.

Jack was born in Allerton, Iowa on November 25, 1924 and grew up in Muscatine, where he graduated from Muscatine High School. He married Betty Eppel on November 24, 1944 and Diane Smith on March 17, 1978. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 1946. In 1949 he received a Bachlor of Science in Commerce, University of Iowa and a Master in Hospital Administration, University of Iowa in 1954. He served in Hospital Administration at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics 1953 1962 and at St. Luke's Methodist Hospital in Cedar Rapids from 1963 1988.

Jack was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, a Life Member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, The American Hospital Association, and the University of Iowa Alumni Association.

Jack served on various community service organizations and enjoyed fishing, reading, travel and especially his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the Methwick Community, or to a charity of choice.
