Ella Elizabeth Timm, 7 week old daughter of Ryan and Janet Railsback Timm, died suddenly Friday, September 19, 2008. Services will be held at 10 AM Thursday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial in Czech National cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5:30 to 7:30 PM on Wednesday and at the chapel after 9 AM on Thursday.
Survivors include her parents, two brothers Miles and Aiden, Grandparents Jerald and Judith Railsback of Cedar Rapids, Dave and Joleen Timm of Tama, a great grandmother Gertrude Timm of Tama, Aunts and Uncles, Matt and Ann Timm of Cedar Rapids, Corey and Heather Timm of Tama, Randy Timm of Bloomington, Illinois, Michael Lovely and Kimberly Railsback both of Assonet, Massachusetts, John and Shelly Railsback of Palo, Jim and Joe Railsback both of Cedar Rapids, and several cousins.
Ella was born August 2, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Keith Leon Wallace

Keith Leon Wallace, 75, 6600 N. 10th Street in Marion died Thursday evening, December 18 at St. Lukes hospital following a brief illness. Services will be held at 10:30 on Tuesday, December 23 at First Presbyterian Church in Marion with Rev. Howard Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 3 to 5 p.m. on Monday and at the Church after 10:00 on Tuesday.
Keith is survived by his wife of 47 years, Margaret Sue, a son Scott W. Wallace and a son-in-law Wendell Clifton, two grandchildren Amber Sue Clifton and Ryan James Clifton all of Marion, a sister, Nancy Burkhart and husband Roger of Gaithersburg, Maryland, a niece, Sharon Sterbis of Missoula, Montana and a nephew Bryce Burkhart of Morrisville, North Carolina. Keith was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Linda Lou Clifton.
Keith was born May 28, 1928 in Ames, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Ruth Ramey Wallace. He graduated from Ames High School in 1946 and then entered the US Navy for two years. He served at the Great Lakes Naval Station and at Treasure Island, California where he was an electronic technician on the USS Gunnison. In 1948 he entered Iowa State University and graduated in 1952 with a BS degree in General Engineering. Later he went back to Iowa State and obtained an MS degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1956.
Keith was employed as an Engineer at General Electric in Richland, Washington, Los Alamos Scientific Laboratories in Los Alamos, New Mexico and Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids. He was also one of the founders of Norand Corporation. In his retirement, he partnered with his son owning and operating K Plaza Laundromat in Cedar Rapids and Maytag Laundromat in Central City.
On June 16, 1956 he married
Margaret Sue Schalkle and they have lived in Marion since that time.
Keith has been a faithful member and served as Trustee in the First Presbyterian Church in Marion. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Tau Beta Pi an engineering honorary society.
Keith enjoyed playing in a weekly tennis league, playing bridge, designing and making machine parts in his shop and participating in outdoor activities. He had a talent for fixing things and looking at ways to make things work better. Keith was able to use those skills in his role as a "weekend farmer" doing farm maintenance.

Polly A. Traynor, 51, of 1475 Blackhawk Dr in Marion died there on Tuesday Oct. 7, 2008 after a short battle with cancer. Memorial services at 3:00 PM on Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call after 2:30 PM. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Brooke Hullermann and her significant other, Scott, of Marion, two sons, Beau (Jenny) Hullermann of Minneapolis, MN. and Thomas Traynor of Cedar Rapids, her mother, Lois Miller of Dubuque, two brothers, Arden (Diane) Miller of Waterloo, Kent (Cindy) Miller of Stone City, and one sister, Debbie Miller of Waterville, MN. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Mykal, Autum, Summer and Lincoln Hullermann. She was preceded in death by her father, one sister, Connie Miller and a brother, Jeff Miller.
Polly was born on Feb. 6, 1957 in Winnebago, MN. the daughter of Dayton and Lois Sparks Miller. She grew up in Dubuque and graduated from Hempstead High School there. Polly worked at St. Lukes for seven and a half years and for the last three and a half years at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Mn. as a respiratory therapist. Polly enjoyed reading, making jewelry, the outdoors, her job and her family, especially her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Polly’s name.
Lloyd E. Tyler

Lloyd E. Tyler of Cottage Grove Place, Cedar Rapids, died December 3rd, 2008 after a short illness. There will be private committal services. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife Elizabeth (Betty) Tyler, and his children Elizabeth Rauch (Gary Rauch) of Boulder, Colorado, Jeffrey Tyler (Sara Tyler) of Estes Park, Colorado, and Ann Tyler (Peggy Shinner) of Chicago, Illinois, as well as grandsons Peter Rauch (Tanya Rapacz) of Ashland, Massachusetts, and Michael Rauch of Tiburon, California, and great-grandchildren Alexander Rauch and Annelise Rauch of Ashland, Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by sisters Bonnie Strong and Lois Davis.
Lloyd was born in Macedonia, Iowa, October 31, 1915, the son of Rex Tyler and Merlie Carmichael Tyler. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Jewell, at Decorah, Iowa on November 29, 1941.
Lloyd received his BS degree in Agronomy in 1939 and his MS in Agronomy in 1954, both from Iowa State University. He was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service, from 1940 to 1972, principally in Iowa and Illinois. At the time of his retirement he was Illinois State Soil Scientist in Champaign, Illinois. He was in the U.S. Army service for four years during World War II.

Donald Glen Tolle

Donald Glen Tolle, 77, of 705 East Post Road SE, died there, Sunday, December 7, 2008, after an apparent heart attack. At Don’s request there will be no services. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Don is survived by his best friend and wife, Virginia; sisters; children; and grandchildren.
Don was born on January 2, 1931 in Dawson to Lloyd and Nettie May Tolle. He retired from Cherry Burrell Company.
Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the American Heart Association or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Marion F. “Tommy” Thompson, 90, a resident of the West Ridge Care Center, died peacefully there Monday, December 8, 2008, following a long illness. Services with military honors will be at 11 AM Friday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Laura Smith of Kenwood Park United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday and at the chapel after 10:30 AM on Friday.
Survivors include two daughters Pamala Miller and Carman (David) Forbes all of Cedar Rapids, a sister Bervol (Bob) Walton of Toledo, Iowa, four grandchildren, Donald (Willa) Miller of Lincoln, Nebraska, Trent (Cathi) Miller of Palo, Michelle (Tony) Michels of Cedar Rapids, and Neely (Brian) Basich of Geneva, Illinois, and five great grandchildren, Travis and Trevor Miller of Henderson, Nevada, Morgan Michels of Cedar Rapids, and Bennett and Blake Basich of Geneva, Illinois, a sister-in-law Pearl Bean of Cedar Rapids, and brother-in-law Robert Hupton of Silvis, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty in 2006, three brothers Cecil, Ralph, and Dean, and two sisters Leota Dee and Dorothy Davis.
Tommy was born November 5, 1918 in Manly, Iowa to Charles and Nanny Cuzick Thompson. He married
Betty Bean on January 31, 1942. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a machinist for Link Belt Speeder-FMC for 38 years. He was a member of Kenwood Park United Methodist Church, Hanford American Legion Post No 5, former President of Local UAW 299, former Vice President of 1054 Linn County UAW, former President of UAW Retiree Chapter 299, former President of Linn County UAW Retiree Council, Election Coordinator for Linn County UAW CAP, UAW Region 4 Retiree Board member, bowled in several leagues, and enjoyed participating in several card clubs. His true love was fishing, hunting, camping, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends.
Military honors by Hanford American Legion Post No 5.

She is also survived by two grandsons, Peter Rauch (Tanya Rapacz) of Ashland, Massachusetts, Michael Rauch of Tiburon, California and two great grandchildren, Alexander Rauch and Annelise Rauch of Ashland, Massachusetts; a sister, Jane Comstock of St. Charles, Illinois, nephews, Dean Bucknell Comstock of Batavia, Illinois and Paul Comstock of Chicago, Illinois and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, Katherine Gunderson and her brother, Walter Jewell Jr.
Betty was born on March 11, 1921 in Decorah, the daughter of Walter and Florence Bucknell Jewell. She graduated from Decorah High School and attended Iowa State University. She married
Lloyd E. Tyler on November 29, 1941 in Decorah. They moved to Cedar Rapids, Ames, Champaign, Illinois and then returned to Cedar Rapids in 1972. Lloyd died on Dec. 3rd 2008.
Betty was a woman of diverse interests. She was an avid antique collector, bridge player, community volunteer and a member of the Unitarian Church. Among her many activities she read to blind students, volunteered at Planned Parenthood and Meals on Wheels, and was a literacy tutor. She was as well a strong supporter of reproductive rights.
