Elizabeth (B'Ann) Ann Terrell, 78, a resident of Northbrook Manor died there Saturday March 21, 2009 from complications of Parkinson's Disease. Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. until service time. The Rev. Rick Gail will officiate. Burial: Oak Hill cemetery at Williamsburg. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband Ray A. Terrell, two daughters, Debra Ann Lacock (Gary) of Cedar Rapids, Diane Terrell-Segar (Ross Sr.) of Ankeny, two sisters, Janice Hodges of California and Dorcas Henderson of Cedar Rapids, 4 grandchildren, Casey Fleming, Jessica Gordon, Ross Segar Jr., Danielle Segar, and 5 great grandchildren, Jesse Fleming, Emma Fleming, Madison Gordon, Cole Gordon and Seyla Gordon.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dwight Jones.
Elizabeth was born November 10, 1930 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Alda (Williams) Jones. She married
Ray A. Terrell on August 20, 1949 in Cedar Rapids. Elizabeth was a Payroll Accountant for the Quaker Oats Company in Cedar Rapids and was a member First Assembly of God. She loved her family and friends very deeply, she loves the Lord Jesus Christ and is now walking in the glory realm with her Savior. She was proud of her Welsh Heritage she is 100% Welsh. She was a Sunday School teacher and also directed the children's choir at Eden United Church of Christ. She also enjoyed playing basketball in her youth, singing, playing the piano, sewing, golf and dancing. Later after retirement She and Ray enjoyed traveling, camping, boating.
A memorial fund has been established.
Robert L. Timmons

Robert L. Timmons, 86, of 345 Marion Blvd., Marion, died April 1, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center. Private family services will be held at Cedar Memorial with inurnment at Mt. Calvary cemetery. The Rev. Donald Caspers will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Bob was born in Manchester, IA, August 21, 1922, son of Roy and Ruby Timmons. He grew up in Manchester, graduating in 1940. He attended Lenox College at Hopkinton before proudly enlisting in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was stationed at the Aleutian Islands.
Bob married
Betty Thompson July 18, 1944, in Lake City, Florida. Returning from service, he graduated with a B.A. from Coe College and M.A. from University of Iowa. He coached at Melbourne, State Center and was coach and principal at Wilton Junction. He was also superintendent and coach at Atkins and superintendent of North Linn Schools, retiring in 1984.
Bob was a loyal Hawkeye/Cubs fan attending many games. All sports drew his interest and participation. Many summers and weekends were spent at their cottage at Delhi where they entertained family and friends.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, he always put family first. In later years he cherished time with his grandchildren and was so proud of their success and accomplishments.
Most recently he attended all of the girls softball games at Coe, coached by his son, Bob.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Ruby; five brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years Betty; two sons, Bob, Rick (Coleen); and daughter JoAnn Daubenmier (Dick); eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.
Thank you to Mercy nurses, staff, Dr. Atay and Dr. Cowden for the wonderful care given to Bob in his last days.
The family has been blessed to have had Bob in their lives for so many wonderful years.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to North Linn Schools, Coe College and Camp Courageous.

Helen Trecek, 88, of 2509 Mt. Vernon Rd. SE died Sunday May 17, 2009 at the Manor Care after a short illness. Services at 1:00 PM on Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Tyrone Male will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday.
Survivors include one brother, Edward (Barbara) Trecek, and a sister, Beatrice Trecek all of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by a nephew, Joseph Trecek, a sister-in-law, Ruth Trecek of Dodgeville, Wisconsin and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by eight brothers.
Helen was born on July 3, 1920 at Blue River, Wisconsin, the daughter of Joseph and Frances Soukup Trecek. She graduated from Wheaton College and the Cook County School of Nursing. As a nurse, Helen worked at St. Lukes Hospital for several years and then worked in the offices of Dr Day, Dr Bausch and Dr. Showel. She went back to work at St. Lukes after the Doctors retired.
Helen traveled in the United States and went to Europe. She visited relatives in Czechoslovakia- her parent’s homeland. She made many lovely crafts, pictures and wreaths that she gave to her family and friends. She had an intensive love for nature and gardening. Her sister, Beatrice and she supplied the neighborhood with fresh vegetables, fresh mushrooms that they had hunted for, and berries in her back yard. She was a member of the New Covenant Bible Church where she attended bible studies and faithfully read her bible daily. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to; Peoria Rescue Ministries, 310 S. W. Adams, P.O. Box 837, Peoria, Illinois 61652-0837 or to Amenity Hospice in Cedar Rapids.
Helen’s family would like to extend its respect and thanks to the staffs at Manor Care and Amenity Hospice for the excellent care and tireless love shown to her.

Gene A. Thorpe Sr., 84, of Cedar Rapids died Saturday June 6, 2009 at his home after a long illness. Services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Brenda Peconge will officiate. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanora, a daughter Carol (Randy) Rentschler of Hiawatha, a son, Gene Jr. of Cedar Rapids and a brother, Zane of Dubuque. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Kevin, Tim, Allyssa and Scott; five great grandchildren, Ashley, Tyler, Devin, Khiah and Tara. He was preceded in death by five sisters and eight brothers.
Gene was born on Sept. 28, 1924 in Lansing, the son of Ray and Anna Moeller Thorpe. He married
Eleanora R. Olsen on Dec. 18, 1949 in Lansing. Gene was a machinist at Tucker Manufacturing for 35 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and especially time spent with his friends and beloved family.
A memorial fund has been established in Gene’s name.
Patricia Thoreson

Patricia “Pat” Thoreson, 80, of Marion, IA passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 from complications of COPD at Crest View Nursing Home with her sister Winnegate “Winnie” Caslavka by her side being vigilant about her care.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2009 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Rev. Charles Keyes will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 till 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories Mausoleum.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sister Winnie Caslevka of Marion; granddaughter Nicole Honzik of Minneapolis, MN; grandson Clark (Diane) Honzik of Andover, MN; great grandchildren Ethan, Alaina and Levi; and son-in-law Ed Honzik.
Preceding Patricia in death were her parents, husband Clark Thoreson, daughter Paulette Honzik, sister Audrey Hunter, and brother Tommy Inman.
Patricia Lou Inman was born August 15, 1928 in Cedar Rapids the daughter of Thomas and Louise (Priest) Inman. She married
Clark Thoreson on July 20, 1946 in Davenport, IA. He preceded her in death on February 3, 1965.
She will be greatly missed by all who have been blessed to know her. Pat was a spirited, down to earth, loving person who laughed and made us smile.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a memorial of their choice.
