Barbara J. Vanderlind, 85, of Cedar Rapids died Sunday, November 1, 2009 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha following a lengthy illness.
Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Rev. Jay Jentick. Interment will be in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery.
Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
She is survived by her son, Bob (Sue) Vanderlind of Waterloo, daughters, Peggy (Jerry) Schneekloth of Ely, Sandy (Mike) Reid of Marion; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; Sisters, Maxine Berry of Michigan and Lenore (DeWayne) Monroe of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Bob Vanderlind Jr. and a brother, R.W. Wells.
Barbara Jean Wells was born October 29, 1924 in Pontiac, MI the daughter of Max & Eleanor (Smith) Wells. She married
Ed Vanderlind on February 14, 1942 and they later divorced. Barbara worked for many years at Mercy Hospital retiring in 1990 and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Eugene K. Vick, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, December 13, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Cancer did not diminish him but sent him to a better place. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Gene is survived by daughter Jinty (Mike) Rowray of Marion; son, Raymond (Diane) Vick of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Deborah Rowray, Heather (Christopher) Lynxweiler, Elliott Rowray, Melonie (Greg) Stoll, and Miranda Vick; great grandchildren, Irish, Lily, and Aben. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alta; two brothers, Elmer and Leonard; and two sisters, Alice Wilson and Irene Travis.
Gene was born February 19, 1922 in Cedar Rapids to William and Emma Vick. He graduated from Springville High School in 1939. Gene then received a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Iowa State College in 1943. He served two years during WWII as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy stationed at the US Naval Research Station in Washington D.C. At this time he met and married
Alta Elliott of Brunswick, ME. They returned to Cedar Rapids in 1945 and was employed by Collins Radio Company until he retired in 1982.
Gene was always learning and interested in new technology. He could frequently be found on the internet. His greatest love was his family.

Mary Louise Van Fleet, 93, died Thursday, December 24, 2009 at Silver Pines. Services: 1 p.m. Monday at St. James United Methodist Church by the Rev. Beth Mary Straw. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday at the church from 11 to 1 p.m. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Survivors include her children, John (Greta) Van Fleet of Cedar Rapids, Patricia (Francis) LaBarge, of Fairfax, Janet (Lowell) Harris of Atlantic, Roselyn (Bob) Pruess of Lisbon, and Dyle (Linda) Van Fleet of Stockport; eleven grandchildren; four step grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; a grandchild; a great grandchild; a sister; and two brothers.
Louise was born November 29, 1916 in Keokuk County to Anderson and Carrie Clubb. She married
John Van Fleet on May 4, 1933 in Ottumwa. Louise worked at Cedar Rapids Community Schools Food Service in dietary. Louise was a great cook and the best dishwasher at church suppers but her greatest joy was her family.
The family would like to thank Hospice Compassus and Silver Pines Staff for the loving care given to Louise.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church or Hospice Compassus.
Nadine Vanous

Nadine Vanous, 84, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010, in St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by her family following a sudden illness. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday in All Saints Catholic Church with Rev. David O’Connor officiating. Burial in St. John’s cemetery. Visitation will be at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 PM to 7PM on Wednesday with a Vigil service beginning at 7 PM, and at the church on Thursday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
Survivors include her children, Susan (Richard) Wolfe of Cedar Rapids, Richard (Mary Beth) of Rochelle, Illinois, Mary Ann (Will) Stober of Alden, Iowa, James (Cathy) of Roseville, Minnesota, Carol (Dr. Todd) Langager of Cedar Rapids, and Paul (Jody) of Mason City, Iowa, twelve grandchildren, Lisa (Vic) Parcell, Dan (Kristin) Wolfe, Claire and Laura Vanous, Clint (Sarah) Stober, Chris (Devon) Stober, Michael, Carolyn, and Kevin Vanous, Karah Langager, Ethan and Sydnie Vanous, and six great grandchildren Isaiah, Arthur, and Micah Stober, Kaylee, Anna, and Teagan Parcell, and her brother Charles (Mary) Peterzalek. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Joseph.
Nadine was born November 3, 1925 in rural Tama County to Charles and Lydia Krajicek Peterzalek. She married
Joseph A. Vanous on September 2, 1948 in Belle Plaine, Iowa. He passed away on January 11, 2008. Nadine was a labor and delivery nurse at Mercy Hospital. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and the Czech & Slovak Museum & Library Society. She loved to travel, read, do cross-stitching, and crossword puzzles. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Paul E. Vice
Born in Lexington, Kentucky on December 18, 1945

Paul E. Vice, 64, of Kalona died Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at his home after a lengthy illness with heart disease. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Friends may visit with the family at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM on Friday.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene, one daughter, Veronica Vice and her fiancé, Jeremy of Kalona, a son, Robert and his fiancée, Pam of Cedar Rapids, and a sister, Anna Jones of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Emily, Kaitlyn, Kyler, Miami, and Larissa. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters and a granddaughter, Kimmy.
Paul was born on December 18, 1945 in Lexington, Kentucky the son of Raymond and Alvia Vice. He married
Darlene Jackson on May 6, 1978 in Middletown, Ohio. Paul was an auto body repair man for Thunderbird Truck sales for many years, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed the Hawkeyes, college basketball, the Kentucky derby and especially time spent with his beloved family.

Michael A. Vrba Sr., 60, of 595 Ricky Allen Drive, Robins, died Monday May 10, 2010 in the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Memorial Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, where visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. William B. Harnish will officiate. Inurnment: Czech National cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Christine; children, Michael A. Vrba Jr. (Bonnie) of Cedar Rapids, Danelle A. Vrba (Stan Camic) of Cedar Rapids, John W. Vrba, and Amanda D. Vrba both of Robins; father, Wilmer J. Vrba of Cedar Rapids; brother, William J. Vrba (Mary Kay) of Cedar Rapids; and grandchildren, Jacob M. Vrba, Maxine A. Vrba and Bradley J. Vrba.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Vrba and grandparents, Joseph and Emma Vrba.
Michael was born January 22, 1950 in Norfolk, Virginia, to Wilmer and Alice Vrba. He married
Christine Scharfenberg on June 21, 1969 in Waterloo. Michael was a pipefitter for Union Local #125 for 35 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and flying control line model airplanes. Michael was a big history buff. He loved cruising early mornings in his PT Cruiser and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Michaels wish for his service was for everyone to be in casual attire.
