Karen L. Vandeventer, 70, of Cedar Rapids, passed away March 10, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a short illness. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church with a memorial service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Harlan Gillespie will officiate. Private inurnment will take place at the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Columbarium.
The daughter of Robert Stanton and Pearl Leneve (Jacobson) Erickson, Karen was born on November 25, 1941 in Beardstown, Illinois. She graduated from Illinois Wesleyan College, where she was a member of the Sigma Alpha Iota sorority. She was united in marriage to James Edward Vandeventer on June 12, 1965 in Springfield, IL.
She began her working career pursuing her passion in music as a Teacher at schools in Illinois, Bettendorf and Urbandale. She stopped teaching at the time she and Jim began their family. She later worked in sales at Younker’s and in the office for Dr. Primmer. She continued to pursue her love for music while teaching piano lessons and directed a church youth choir.
She enjoyed gardening, crafts, reading, volunteer work and exercising. She was a member of TTT, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and the Compass Class. Above all her greatest enjoyment was time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her husband James; her daughters, Amy Vandeventer-Gasser and husband Edward of Fishers, IN and Lori Vandeventer of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, James Stanton and Kathryn Grace; and her sister Pamela Futhey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Pearl Erickson.
The family would like to thank the nursing staffs of St. Luke’s CCU and 5 Center, Dr. Stankovich and Karen’s friends from Compass Class.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Karen’s honor may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church or to the Anna Purna Ghosh Foundation.

Patricia J. Frake-Hendron-Nakaerts-Vincent 82, of 4007 Lexington Dr., died on September 6, 2012 with family present at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha.
A viewing will be held from 2 p.m.-7 p.m. Sunday September 9, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home where there will be a vigil service at 3:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday September 10th at St. Pius X Catholic Church where friends may call after 9:00 AM. Deacon Paul Zimmerman will officiate .Patricia is survived by five children: Stacey Anderson (Steve) Downers Grove, IL, Dan Hendron (Barbara), Clifton, IL, Tim Hendron (Andrea), Naperville, IL, Julie Sandness-Boyer, Watseka, IL, Lindy Nakaerts (Deborah), Naperville, IL. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was born to the late Lawrence and Margaret Frake, Aug. 25, 1930 in Evanston, IL. Patricia graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Phoenix, AZ in 1948 and attended Arizona State University. She married
the late William Leo Hendron (Dee) in 1950, the late Myron Joseph Nakaerts (Butch) in 1960 and Clinton Dawson Vincent (Clint) in 1987.
Patricia owned and operated Cameo Beauty Salon in Clifton, IL and moved to Cedar Rapids, IA in 1977 . She worked for Rockwell Collins until her retirement in 1992.
Patricia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed listening to music, playing cards and large family gatherings.
Patricia was an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church a member of the choir, taught CCD and RCIA.
The family would like to thank all for the wonderful words of encouragement, support and care through Patricia’s journey. A special thank you to all of the staff at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice house for your love and care throughout Patricia’s stay.

Anastasia Viktora-Jensen, 76, of Cedar Rapids died September 9, 2012 at her home following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Mt. Calvary cemetery.
Surviving are her children, David E. Viktora and wife Mary Jane of Omaha, Nebraska, Paul Viktora and wife Shari and Larry Viktora and wife Barb all of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Dean, Dodi, Chad, Victor, AJ, Kyle, Laura, Dan, Stefani, Logan and Delaney; 13 great grandchildren; her siblings, Gertie, Charles, Clem and Raymond; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don, one great granddaughter; her siblings, Margie, Bernadette and Andy; and her ex-husband David W.
Anastasia was born on June 17, 1936 in Fort Atkinson, Iowa the daughter of Clement and Anna (Kipp) Steffes. She was united in marriage to David W. Viktora in 1953, and they were later divorced. She worked as the Manager Cook at Ole’s Ham and Egger in Marion for over 35 years. Through her work there, she met many people and enjoyed visiting with them over the years. She married
Donald Jensen, Sr. on October 17, 1996; he preceded her in death in 2006. She enjoyed cooking and will be remembered as always making sure all were well fed at family get-togethers. She also enjoyed playing bingo as well as outings to the casino with family. Her greatest delight in life was her family. She dearly loved all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gertrude Stoner Veldhouse, 95, of Northbrook Manor died there on Friday, April 29, 2005 after a long illness. Services at 1 PM on Wed. at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday and at the Chapel after Noon on Wed.
Survivors include a daughter, Ellen Fiocchi of Glenview, ILL. She is also survived by a sister in law, Ailia Stoner of Cedar Rapids and four grandchildren, John Fiocchi and his wife, Rosalinda and their children, Luke and Peter of Mettawa. Ill. James Fiocchi and his wife, Maria and their children, Thomas and India of Highland Park, ILL., Jeffrey Fiocchi and his wife, Paula and their children, Olivia and Sofia of Aurora, Colorado and a granddaughter, Jennifer Fiocchi and her husband, Khalid Karkache and their children, Samuel Wray and Joseph Gabriel of Wilmington, Mass.
Gertrude was born on Jan. 30. 1910 in North Liberty, the daughter of Lester and Nellie Wray Stoner. She married
Dr. Richard H. Veldhouse on June 21, 1932 in North Liberty. He died in 1988. She worked for Avis Car Rental at the Cedar Rapids Airport for several years. Gertrude graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA degree in English. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the Cedar Rapids College Club, a long time member of Elmcrest Country Club. She loved to play golf and bridge with her many friends . Memorial donations may be given to the American Heart Association in Gertrude's name.

Patricia J. "Pat" Visek, 70, of 608 Blue Heron Ct. NE, died Sunday, February20, 2005, in St. Luke's Hospital of Lung Cancer. Services at 1 PM Thursday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Dave Higdon will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday and at the chapel after 12:30 PM on Thursday.
Survivors include her husband Milo "Mike", four sons Michael and wife Tina of Cedar Rapids, Philip of Greenwood, Indiana, Jeffrey and wife Lisa of Central City, and Christopher and wife Robin of Cedar Rapids, and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Robert Burns.
Patricia was born April 15, 1934 in Cedar Rapids the daughter of Charles and Faye Anthony. She graduated from Wilson School in 1952. She married
Mike Visek on July 25, 1953 in Cedar Rapids.
Pat was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved crafts, working crossword puzzles, and especially enjoyed working in her flower garden.

Linda L. Vanek, 57, of 3115 Woodland Dr. SW died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005 at her home after a long illness. Services at 3 PM on Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories where friends may call after 2:30 PM on Tuesday. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Haines and Jodi Cranston, both of Cedar Rapids and a son, Chad and his wife, Carrie of Glendale, AZ., five brothers, Larry, Dick, Terry, Doug and Bruce and one sister, Brenda. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jeremy, Joshua, Devon, Dylan and a friend, Dean. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Linda was born on Aug. 28, 1947 in Arlington, the daughter of Donald and Dorothy Astor Fliehler. She married
James Vanek on June 17, 1965 and were later divorced. Linda was a bartender for many years at the Freeway Express and later at Tommy's. She was a member of HADTO, enjoyed playing pool and time spent with her many friends and family. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Linda's name.
