Anne Marie Valliere, 33 of Chicago, Illinois and a former resident of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday at the home of her parents in Cedar Rapids, following a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Matthew's Catholic Church by Rev. Mark Osterhaus officiating. Interment: Mt. Calvary cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, where a vigil service will be given at 7 p.m.
Surviving are her parents, Richard and Mary Elizabeth Liz Valliere of Cedar Rapids, brother, Mark and wife Susie and children, David, Renee and Michael of Rock Island, brother, James and wife Marcene and their children Joshua, Jennifer, Justin Valliere and Shana and Christopher Tolley of Hiawatha, a brother, John and wife Tammy and their child Carter of Park View, Iowa, and a sister, Lisa Pfeiffer and husband Bob and their children, B.J., Beth, and Brody of Cedar Rapids, aunts and uncles, Paul and Frances Valliere of Cedar Rapids, John and Frances Hennessey of Cedar Rapids, Robert and Rita Hennessey of Marion and William and Mary Hennessey of Marion.
Her sister, Rose Marie, preceded her in death.
Anne was born on July 13, 1968 in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Regis High School in 1986 and St. Ambrose University in 1990. She was working at the Ancona School Society, Inc. in Chicago as a physical education teacher, athletic director and coach of several sports.
Many near and far have been blessed with the gift of Anne's love and friendship. Her bright smile and contagious or heartfelt laugh would brighten any occasion. The words she embraces Live, Love and Laugh have touched us all forever.

John E. Vavra, 53, of 400 W. 8th AVE. Marion died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003 at St. Lukes Hospital of an apparent heart attack. Services at 10:30 AM on Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Marion. Rev. Stan Wierson and Rev. Nick Longworth will officiate. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon, two sons, Jason and his wife, Eugenia of Marion, Chad of Marion and NY., his mother, June Vavra of Cedar Rapids, two brothers, Robert and his wife, Barbara of Marion and Mark and his wife, Patricia of St. Louis, MO. He is also survived by his brother in law, Rick Sampson and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
John was born on May 22, 1949 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Robert Otto and June Starman Vavra. He graduated from Jefferson High School and was involved in Thespians there. He later received his BS and MS degrees from Iowa State University. He married
Sharon L. Sampson on Nov. 27, 1971 in Cedar Rapids. John was a Safety Inspector for the Travelers Insurance Co. for 23 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marion and was an adult Scouter with the Boy Scouts of America. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Howard H. Cherry Scout Camp in Central City in John's name.

Charles H. Vyskocil, 92, of Crestview Acres died there on Friday, Feb. 21, 2003 after long illness. Services at 1 PM on Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Fiends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Monday.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Lillian, a resident of Crestview Acres and a son, Don, of Houston, TX. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Linda Gorkow, Scott, John, Julie, Nathan and David Vyskocil, Terri Czajkowski, Kerri Jared, Jill Baker, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Charles and Richard and a brother, Henry Jr.
Charles was born on Nov. 10, 1910 in Vamberk, Czechoslovakia. He came to the United States in 1912 and graduated from old Washington High School. He played the violin and played in the Coe College Orchestra. He married
Lillian F. Coufal on Sept. 23, 1933 in Vinton. Charles began working at Western Fraternal Life Association in 1928 and retired as President of WFLA in 1979. He was a member of WFLA Lodge 262, Czech Heritage, SPJST, Sokol's and the Cedar Rapids Traveling Men's Club. Charles was active in the Boy Scouts earning the Silver Beaver Award and served in the National Guard.
The Vyskocil family would like to bless all who loved and cared for Charles. His humor and the twinkle in his eye will always be remembered. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Czech Heritage Foundation or the Hawkeye Council of Boy Scouts of America in Charles's name.

Lowell F. Vieman, 69, of Springville, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2003, at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. Services at 10 AM Wednesday in Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha. Rev. Daniel Johnson will officiate. Graveside services with military honors at 2:30 PM on Wednesday in Riverside cemetery, Charles City, Iowa. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday and at the church after 9 AM on Wednesday.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Betty, three daughters, Teresa Keenan and husband Rich of Springville, Candace Reed and husband Tony of Cedar Rapids, and Denise Johnson of Marion, four dearly loved grandchildren, Sean and Devin Keenan and Jordan and Hunter Johnson, four sisters, Wilma Mannetter of Hubbard, Winona Tordoff of Wellsburg, Hazel McBride of Eldora, and Shirley Landt and husband Bud of Union, a former son-in-law Scott Johnson, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son Douglas in 1974, his parents, a brother Wayne, and two brothers-in-law Ed Tordoff and Gilbert Mannetter.
Lowell was born April 24, 1934 in Eldora, Iowa to Cleon and Hattie Hoyt Vieman. He married
Betty Tribby on August 26, 1953 at the Methodist Church in Ellsworth, Iowa. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha, the Charles City American Legion, Cedar Rapids and Marion Chamber of Commerce, Charles City Rotary Club, Floyd County Sheriffs Reserve and served in the US Army during the Korean War.
Lowell enjoyed many careers; mechanic, hardware store owner, and Vice President of Lake Products Inc., retiring in 1995 from traffic manager at Cedar Rapids, Inc. and teaching at Kirkwood Community College. He was an enthusiastic woodworker and liked keeping up with the latest technology. He was best known for his sense of humor.
Lowell will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha.

Stella Woltmann, 95, of Crestview Acres joined the Lord on Wednesday March 13, 2002. Services: 10:00 A.M. Monday at Turner Chapel West where friends may call from 2 to 4 PM Sunday. Burial: 2:00 P.M. Monday at Memory Gardens cemetery in Iowa City. The Rev. Jim Trosen will officiate.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Ales and husband Dan of Cedar Rapids; three granddaughters, Sheryl Walker and husband Robert of Minnetouka, MN, Sue Clow and husband Joseph of Fond du Lac, WI, and Sharon Langenberg and husband David of Cedar Rapids; a grandson, Paul Ales and wife Tammy of Muscatine; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Donald Lee Woltmann, a brother, Isaac Bert Kinser, a sister, Cloa M. Fries, and 5 half brothers.
Stella was born May 29, 1906 in Soldier, KY the beloved daughter of John H. and Mary E. Caudill Kinser. She married
Alfred Woltmann on December 24, 1924 in Walnut. He died in 1968 after 43 years of marriage.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed her family and friends, and loved to cook and bake for them. She also enjoyed gardening.

Harry J. Whitehead, 78, of 2009 Linmar Dr. NE, died Monday, May 6, 2002, in his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Services and Masonic Rites at 3 PM Thursday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Dr. Herbert Isenberg of Westminster Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial with military honors in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday and at the chapel after 2:30 PM on Thursday.
Survivors include his wife Val, children, Nancy Paul Black of Warminster, Pa., Susan Clifton Batchelder of Pinellas Park, Fl., Michael Kristin Whitehead of Iowa City, Iowa, Margaret Jonathan Shore of Boulder, Co., Lisa Erik Seyring of Zug, Switzerland, and Lana James Ortega of Littleton, Co. A sister Jane Keck of San Diego, California, 11 grandchildren, Shana and Aubree Black, Brian Batchelder, Carissa Havel, Denise Hale, Jessica and Matthew Shore, Jacklyn and Peter Seyring, Allison and Evan Ortega, 3 great-grandchildren Ryan, Bradley and Katelyn Havel, a step granddaughter Britt Batchelder Thompkins, two step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Ellen Beauchamp and Vera Whitehead, and triplet grandchildren, Shelli, Shawn, and Shannon Black.
Harry was born October 21, 1923 in Epworth, Iowa to Harry J. and Nellie M. Foley Whitehead. He married
Valeta Kirk on May 26, 1946 in Cedar Rapids.
He served with the US Army during WW II in the 8th Armored Division. He was a graduate of Cedar Rapids Business College. He was associated with one insurance agency for 34 years and has been with Millhiser Smith Agency for the past 13 years.
Harry has been active in civic affairs in Cedar Rapids for many years. He is Past President of the Cedar Rapids Jaycees and Jaycee Charities, Inc. The Jaycees honored him in 1960 with the 'Distinguished Service Award' and in April of 1979 bestowed upon him the honor of 'J.C.I. Senator', the highest honor that can be conferred on a present or former Jaycee. He was also honored as 'Boss of the Year' by Triangle 64 Chapter of the American Business Women's Association in 1976.
Harry is Past President of the following additional organizations: Cedar Rapids Executives Association; Hawkeye Toastmasters Club; Public Health Nurses Association; and Board of Trustees Westminster Presbyterian Church. He has been active in his trade associations serving as State President of the Professional Agents Association and served as National Director from Iowa for the National Professional Agents Association for 14 years.
He received the State P.I.A. 'Mr. Chairman' award in 1964 and was named P.I.A. 'Agent of the Year' for Iowa in 1970 and again in 1984. He is the only Iowa agent to receive this award two times. Harry is also a Past President of the Cedar Rapids Independent Agents Association. During the time he was a National Director of the P.I.A., he served on many National Committees and many Agent/Company Boards.
Harry also has served as Chairman of the Visiting Nurses Association Professional Advisory Committee and is a member of the Visiting Nurses Association Board of Directors. He has served this organization for more than 30 years.
He received the designation of Certified Insurance Counselor in 1983 and is a life member of the Certified Professional Agents Society.
He is a member of Crescent Masonic Lodge #25 A.F. & A.M., Cedar Rapids Consistory, and the Elkahir Shrine. He is a member of Elmcrest Country Club and served as its President in 1986, and a member of American Legion Hanford Post No 5. He was one of the organizers and is a Charter Member of Cedar Rapids-West Rotary and served as its second President in the 1980-1981 term. In 1993, he was presented with a Rotary Paul Harris Fellowship.
Harry was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
