Galen H. Waggoner, 78, died Tuesday at his residence following a brief illness. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church by Rev. Duane Hix. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today where Masonic services will be conducted by the Crescent Masonic Lodge # 25 at 7 p.m.
Military services will be conducted by the American Legion Hanford Post # 5.
Surviving besides his wife Donna, are two daughters, Denise Waggoner Nipper and husband Kirk of Hiawatha and Lori Waggoner of Cedar Rapids, 2 sisters, Kathryn Orr and husband Lester of Onslow, Iowa and Norma Brady of Anamosa and a brother, Paul Waggoner and wife Lucille of Wyoming, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, nephews, Donald Orr and Lee Orr and a great niece, Sarah Bartels.
He was born on May 8, 1927 in Olin, Iowa to Harold and Lizzie Weers Waggoner and was married
to Donna Hood on December 27, 1958 in Jesup, Iowa. He formerly had been employed with Rockwell Collins for 28 years. He was a member of Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church, Crescent Masonic Lodge # 25 A.F.& A.M. and the American Legion Hanford Post # 5. Mr. Waggoner had served during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army.

Garfey William Zach, Jr., 78, of the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House died Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the hospice house following a long illness. Services: 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. William Harnish will officiate. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4PM to 7PM. Surviving are a daughter, Kathy Meyers Mark of Cedar Rapids; a son, Matthew Zach of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Amanda, Audra, Ann, Leif, Kallie, Angela, Andrew and Dillon; six great grandchildren, Alivia, Audriana, Amira, Alysia, Layla and Addison; two sisters, Kathleen Sexton and Judy Phillips Robert both of Cedar Rapids; and a brother, Marvin Zach Pat of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Kay, and two daughters, Jean Zach and Diane McMurrin.
Garfey was born January 21, 1930 in Cedar Rapids the son of Garfey William Zach Sr. and Esther DeShaw Zach. He married
Kay Carol Schneider on April 9, 1954 in Cedar Rapids. He was a fork-lift driver with Allis Chalmers and with Harnischfeger Corp. for 35 years. He loved everything about farms, and drove the gravel roads to look at the cows and horses. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Vernetta Williams, 80, of 3211 2nd Avenue SW, died Monday, June 13, 2005, after a long illness. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Jude Catholic Church by the Rev. Don Czapla. Burial: St. Joseph cemetery. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. today where friends may call at Turner West Funeral Home today from 4 8 p.m.
Survivors include her husband, Howard of 57 years; two sons, Jim Pam Williams of Mt. Vernon, and Michael Jan Williams of Hiawatha; a daughter Ann Kadlec and her special friend Alan Fredricks of Omaha, NE; seven grandchildren, Brian and Eric, Jill, Sarah, and Emily, and Katelyn and Corey; a sister, Maxine Urich of Oak Lawn, IL; and two brothers, Robert Josephine Kamm of Flippin, AK and Thomas Diane Kamm of Denver, CO.
Vernetta was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John.
Vernetta was born July 10, 1924 in Columbus NE to John and Agnes Kamm. She married
Howard Williams on October 16, 1948 in Cedar Rapids. Vernetta was a Registered Nurse in the St. Luke's nursery for over 27 years, retiring in 1985. She was an active member of the Comfort Makers' quilting club at First Lutheran Church and a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. Vernetta will be remembered for her love of baking, sewing, and most of all, caring for her children and grandchildren.

Robert R. Wilkinson, 60 of 3470 Cottonwood Lane in Marion died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005 at St. Lukes Hospital of cancer. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marion. Rev. John Gossman will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday where a vigil service will be held at 6:30 PM on Thursday.
Survivors include his wife, Sally, four sons, Jeff Lisa, Brian Kelly all of Minneapolis, MN, Scott Sue of Urbandale and Dan Michelle of Iowa City, three brothers, Tom Shari of Cedar Rapids, Frank Linda of West Des Moines and Den Diane of Solon. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Joe, Michael, Stephanie, Samantha, Sydni, Jack, Robby, Matthew, Nathan and Ashley. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bob was born on April 28, 1945 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Thomas and Irene Niffenegger Wilkinson. He married
Sally M. Bittner on Sept. 17, 1966 in Cedar Rapids. Bob was district manager for Gerber Products for 28 years and later worked for Kraft Foods until his retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and time spent with his beloved family, especially his grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Hospice of St. Lukes.

Shirley was born May 17, 1928 in Independence, Kansas the daughter of Herb and Kitty Dean. She married
Don C. Welter in August 1968 in Topeka, Kansas. Shirley was a sales secretary for John Zacher Real Estate Company and later worked as a transcriptionist for IMC formerly Linn County Orthopedics. Shirley loved to read, play video poker and spend time with her family. She also had a special cat named Jessie.

Marion E. Watson, 86, of Mercy Hallmar died there on Friday, Sept. 16, 2005 of cancer. Memorial services at 1 PM on Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Ron Lewis will officiate. Survivors include a son, Craig and his wife, Phyllis of Overland Park, Kansas, a daughter, Ruth Ann Smigielski and her husband, Tom of Moraga, California and a sister, Ruth Bloom of Omaha, Nebraska. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Michelle Lockhart and her husband John, Sara Domann and her husband, Chad, and Nichole and Scott Smigielski, three great grandchildren, Jennifer and Samuel Lockhart and Brett Domann. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Donald Wing and a sister, Charlotte Talley.
Marion was born on April 25, 1919 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Frank and Myrtle Briggs Wing. She graduated from McKinley High School and later married
William C. Watson on Feb. 3, 1943 in Tampa, Florida. He died in 1998. Marion was a homemaker, enjoyed crossword puzzles, and especially time spent with her friends and beloved family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Mercy or the YMCA in Marion's name.

Herbert Herbie D. Westrom, Age 87 passed away peacefully at Mercy Medical Center, Sunday, April 9, 2006 after a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Turner East Funeral Home & Crematory by the Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer. Burial: St. Joseph cemetery, Greeley. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Herbie is survived by his wife, Maxine and daughters Joan John Wilson of Appleton, Wisconsin, and Nancy Hildebrand of Cedar Rapids; 6 grandchildren: Josh Tina Wilson, Jeremy Emmy Wilson, Jack Wilson, Rebecca Hildebrand, Matthew Hildebrand and Daniel Westrom; 2 great-grandchildren: Carter and Tessa Wilson; his brother Raymond Westrom and a number of nieces and nephews. Herbie was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Harold and Donald Westrom.
Herbie was born May 22, 1918 in Cedar Rapids the son of Albert C. and Retta M. Corderman Westrom. He attended Johnson Elementary School and the old Washington High School before graduating from Franklin High School. He also attended Coe College. He was united in marriage to Maxine R. Bockenstedt on September 28, 1954 in Greeley, Iowa. He proudly served his country with the Army Air Corps during World War II in the China-Burma Theatre as an airplane mechanic. He was a talented pianist throughout his life who loved piano music and music of the forties. Before the war, he led The Herbie Westrom Orchestra. After the war, he played with various orchestras including Earl Fulton, Louis DeKlotz, Blue Barron, Vern Josifek and The Commanders.

Herbie was a very loving person and he touched many lives through his kindness and compassion for others. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed on earth and we rejoice in his eternal life.
