Joice Wallace, 90, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, June 4, 2011 in Des Moines, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery followed by a memorial service at Echo Hill Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. A reception will follow.

Mrs. Wallace was born July 8, 1920 in Marshalltown, Iowa to James and Joice Lowry. She was married to James Wallace on May 16, 1959 in Cedar Rapids. She was employed in Marshalltown by Iowa Electric Light and Power Company and was transferred to Cedar Rapids where she worked until 1959. Joice enjoyed writing and over the years had a number of her poems published. She was a member of Central Park Presbyterian Church where she was an active volunteer in Christian Education for many years. Upon her move to Des Moines in 2003, she joined Central Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 2001. She is survived by her two sons and their families: John and Carol Wallace of Katy, Texas and their daughters Callie, Caryn and Claire; Jim and Anne Wallace of Urbandale, Iowa and their daughters Lindsay, Laney and Lauren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Echo Hill Presbyterian Church, PO Box 11335 Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52410.

Lucy LeClaire Westfall
Born in Morning Sun, Iowa on October 9, 1923
Departed on June 4, 2011. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Lucy L. Westfall, 87, of Hiawatha, died June 4, 2011 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. A memorial gathering and luncheon will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the Cedar Memorial Park Family Center and Library.

Surviving are her daughter Judy Carnes and husband Dr. R. Scott of Hiawatha and her granddaughter, Kara Carnes (Cody Benhart) of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Leslie.

Lucy LeClaire Westfall was born October 9, 1923 in Morning Sun, Iowa the daughter of William and Della Ruth Stroup. She was united in marriage to Leslie Dean Westfall on June 30, 1943 in Canton, Missouri. Leslie preceded her in death in 1986. She was employed for many years in assembly at Rockwell Collins. She enjoyed her home on the Mississippi River, her longtime close circle of friends and time spent with family. She will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in her name be made to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.

Floyd Williams
Born in South Fulton, Tennessee on October 10, 1941
Departed on July 30, 2011. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Floyd Williams, 69, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday July 30, 2011 in Mercy Medical Center. Services: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Gospel Tabernacle Church by Pastor Joe Pledge. Burial: Oak Hill cemetery. Visitation will be today from 4-8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel.

Survivors include wife Marie Williams, his children; Adam F. (Stephanie) Pledge, Dorothy J. Pledge, Charlotte A. Pledge all of Cedar Rapids, Floyd Pirtle and Frederick Pirtle both of South Fulton, Tennessee, Patrick O’Neil of Corpus Christi, Texas Kenny Robertson, Gary Robertson, Tammy Robertson Jerry Robertson, Billy Robertson, Frank Robertson, George Robertson all of Cedar Rapids, his siblings; Darrel Williams and Donald Williams both of Cedar Rapids, Willie B. Williams and Dennia Williams, Alphea-Motley, Beulah Brown, and Gwendora Williams all of South Fulton, Tennessee, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother, Boyd Williams, a sister, Leatha Maddox, a brother, Ronald Williams and a stepdaughter, Laura Miller.

Floyd was born October 10, 1941 in South Fulton, Tennessee, the son of Benjamin and Elizabeth Carr Williams. He married Marie Pledge on May 16, 1981 in Cedar Rapids. Floyd was a handy man. He enjoyed working on cars, fishing, dancing, and sharing his childhood stories. He was a great man and was loved by all. Floyd also loved to dress up and spend time with all his grandchildren and great grandchildren and had a nick name for all of them. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A memorial fund has been established instead of flowers.

Audrey G. Wienands-Tharp
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on April 20, 1921
Departed on October 16, 2011. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Audrey G. Wienands-Tharp, 90, of Northbrook Manor Care Center died there on Sunday October 16, 2011 after a short illness. Services at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call after 12:00 PM on Wednesday. Private burial at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah (Sam) Wienands-Williams and a brother, Robert (Janet) Beck all of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by three nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherri A. Myer, her two husbands Clarence and Theodore and two brothers Earl and Dale Beck.

Audrey was born on April 20, 1921 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Ray and Emma Moore Beck. She married Theodore “Ted” Wienands in 1938. They were later divorced. She later married C. Virgil Tharp in 1987. He died in 1991 and Ted in 2005. Audrey was the co-owner and operator of Ted’s Playtime Tap for over 20 years. She was a member of Eastern Star, where she had been Past Queen from 1970 to 71. She was also very active in the Daughters of the Nile and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking and was an avid collector of vinegar cruets and turtles. Audrey was a wonderful wife and mother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Cheryl J. Wiley
Born in Ottumwa, Iowa on June 17, 1950
Departed on March 18, 2012. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Cheryl J. Wiley, 61 of Palo, passed away on March 18, 2012 in her home following a battle with Adenocarcinoid cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Cedar Hills Community Church. The service will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Leonard Ranson. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 also at the church. Burial will be at Spring Grove cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel.

Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Dennis; her children, Kimberly Wiley of Covington, Denny Wiley of Palo and Maria (Jarrod) Marks of Palo; her grandchildren, Andrew Walton, Kelsey Walton, Brandon Wiley, Jayden Wiley, Steven Marks, Katy Marks, Harlee Marks and Megan Marks; one great granddaughter, Emma Walton; her parents, Harry and Jessie Christy of Cedar Rapids; her siblings, Jeanie (John) Mitchell of Atkins, Barbara Orr of Texas, Peggy (Michael) Davis of Virginia, Donald (Lorie) Christy of Marengo, Deborah (Jim) Twesten of Missouri; her mother and father-in-law, John and Donna Wiley of Cedar Rapids; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Cheryl June Wiley was born June 17, 1950 in Ottumwa, the daughter of Harry R. and Jessie J. (Adams) Christy. She graduated from Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School. She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart Dennis R. Wiley on April 6, 1968 in Cedar Rapids. She worked along side her family for the last 40 years on their farm near Palo. She was a member of Cedar Hills Community Church, Freedom Trikers and the El Kahir Shrine Auxiliary.

Cheryl enjoyed crocheting, painting and being surrounded by her family. Cheryl was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend who will be greatly missed by all.

The family extends their appreciation to Dr. Nabi and all of the caring nurses of Oncology Associates and Hospice for their care and guidance during this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Cheryl’s honor may be made to Cedar Hills Community Church.

RaMae A. Young
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on May 17, 1955
Departed on November 28, 2009. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

RaMae A. Young, 54, of Cedar Rapids died Saturday, November 28, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Services: 3:00 pm Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.
Rev. Rick Gail will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 pm Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include her sister, Terri Coleman and her husband Michael of Marion; Brother, Brian Young of Cedar Rapids and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond & Lucinda Young, brother, Steven Young, maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts and uncles.

RaMae A. Young was born May 17, 1955 in Cedar Rapids, IA the daughter of Raymond & Lucinda (O’Brien) Young. She worked at Graphic Sciences and later owned Write Right Editorial Services out of her home. RaMae was a member of First Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed her family, friends, traveling, writing, bible study and her two beloved bichons, Jazzi and Cammi. In her earlier years she enjoyed studying and playing her accordion.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or Lupus Foundation and can be sent to the homes addresses of Terri or Brian.
