William "Bill" H. Johnson
William “Bill” H. Johnson, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died suddenly on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from an aneurysm. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1 from 4 to 7 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 11 AM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery will follow the service with Military Rites.
He was born on April 23, 1927, the youngest of seven children to E. Leola and Albert H. Johnson. He was lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, with the exception of the time he spent in the U.S. Navy during WWII, where he was stationed in the South Pacific. On September 10, 1954 he married Marguerite “Peggy” Williams in Cedar Rapids. During his years of work, he was employed at Wilson Meat from 1959-1979; then he began employment with the City of Cedar Rapids (Street Department) in 1980; where he retired in 1989. He always enjoyed sharing a good joke with others.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy; and his daughter, Kathy of Cedar Rapids; two sister-in-laws, Wanda Johnson and Ruth Darling.
He was preceded in death by his parents and all six siblings: L. Earl Darling, Ray Darling, Howard Johnson, Donald “Scottie” Johnson, Frances Beaupre, and Ruth Graham.

Ricarda R. Manthe
Ricarda R. Manthe, 60, of Central City died suddenly on Sunday February 17, 2013 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call from 1:00 until service time at 3:00 pm on Wednesday.
Survivors include her husband Ronnie Manthe; son, Christopher Kueker; daughter, Raissa Azmi; grandson, Zeeshan Azmi, granddaughter Fareesa Azmi; mother, Shirley Simpson; sister, Roselee Simpson; brother, Roscoe Simpson and many nieces and nephews. She loved visiting with and bragging about her grand kids, collecting angels, finding bargains and helping friends and family.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
Audie Ramos
Audie Ramos, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Feb. 16, 2013 in his home with family by his side. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with certified celebrant Julie Freese officiating. Friends may call one hour before service at 10:00 am also at the Chapel of Memories. Interment will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
Audie was born December 26, 1955 in Kaufman, Texas. He served in the Army after graduating from Memorial High School. Audie loved listening to music, especially Elvis Presley. He loved to draw.
Audie is survived by his mother Margo Rupp; two sisters Doris (Jr) Garza and Patrice Edgeton; two brothers Calvin Edgeton and David Ramos and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and several uncles and aunts.

Henry Coburn Houck
Henry Coburn “Cobe” Houck, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Services: 2 PM Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Rev. Rick Gail of the First Assembly of God Church. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories after 1 PM Tuesday. Military services will be conducted by the Iowa National Guard.
Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Aline; three daughters, Mary (James) Klinger, Kaye (John) O’Deen and Penny (Roger Mrstik); stepdaughter, Bernice Farley; two sons, John Henry Houck and Garry D-Wight Houck, all of Cedar Rapids; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and three sisters, Elizabeth Selby, Kathleen Bailey, and Evelyn ”Bill” Wheeler, all of Ashland, Kentucky .
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, seven brothers-in-law.
Henry was born May 31, 1925to John and Goldie Houck in Ashland, Kentucky and was married to Aline Sparks on October 7, 1948. He was a WWII veteran and awarded the Purple Heart. Henry retired from Cherry Burrell after 39 years. He was a member of the First Church of the Open Bible.
Henry was a soft spoken man who loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Lillian Lorene Rice
Lillian Lorene Rice, 94, of Cedar Rapids, entered into eternal peace, to be embraced by her Lord and Savior, on Thursday, February 14, 2013 following a brief illness. Services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, February 18, 2013 at Peace Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Gary Brouwers presiding. There is a visitation one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will be at Cedar Memorial Cemetery following the service.
Lorene is survived by her children Lloyd (Donna) Banks, Paula (Butch) Shoop, Cleo Banks, and Stan Banks; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Rice was preceded in death by husbands, Cleo Edward Banks and Edward W. Rice and by daughter Mary Lou McQuown

Rickie N. Rowray
Rickie Norman Rowray, 66, of Cedar Rapids died Monday February 11, 2013 following a stroke and a short illness at Bishop Drumm in Johnston, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 13 from 4:30 PM to 7 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Service will be held on Thursday at 11 AM at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at Edgewood Family Fellowship, 621 Edgewood Road, Cedar Rapids, following the committal.
Rickie was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Richard E. Rowray and to the late Augusta Rowray (Kohl). Rickie graduated from the Iowa School for the Deaf in 1965. He was married to Patricia Ann Rowray (Ewoldt) in Spencer, Iowa on November 23, 1968. They lived for 44 years in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his children Randall (Jenifer) Rowray of Des Moines, Robina Criteser of Gulf Shores, Alabama; his grandchildren Miranda (20), Ben (13), Nate (11) and Brooklyn (9); father, Richard and wife, Wanda Brandt; brother, Dan Rowray of Iowa City; step-siblings, Kenard, Wanette, Shawn, Angie.
Rickie was preceded in death by his mother, Augusta and a sister, Marsha Hilton.
Rickie worked for Rockwell Collins for 37 years and retired in December of 2002. He was an active member at the Word of God Lutheran Church for the Deaf. He held various positions with the National Fraternal Society for the Deaf. He belonged to the World Deaf Magician Organization, and was a magician for 47 years. He was a balloon artist providing smiles and entertainment for the VSA Iowa at the Iowa State Fair for over 24 years. Rickie was a member of the IBEW Local #1362 for 35 years.
One of Rickie’s favorite sayings was “Can Do”. He lived his life with an optimistic attitude in everything that he did. He accomplished so much within his family, community, state, and his travels. His antics and talents brought joy to children and adults alike. His deafness never limited his imagination and creativity. He strived to do the best in all that he did and brought you a smile with his “Can Do” attitude.

Rev. Charles L. Birchmier
Rev. Charles Birchmier, 89, of Marion, died on Monday, February 11, 2013 at Westridge Care Center. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 15 from 6 to 8 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Service will be on Saturday, February 16 at 11 AM with a visitation an hour prior at Kenwood Park United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Metz. Burial will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was born in Davis County, Iowa on October 30th, 1923 the son of Charles and Grace McDowell Birchmier of R.R. Bloomfield. After attending Bible College in Des Moines, Iowa he married Charlene Gates of Des Moines on June 9, 1945. A Bachelors of Arts degree was earned at Taylor University, Upland Indiana and a Divinity degree at Garrett Biblical Institute in Evanston, Illinois. Rev. Birchmier spent 40 years in the pastoral ministry in Methodist churches in Indiana and Iowa, retiring in 1988. Among these churches were Radcliffe, Plymouth, DeWitt, West Bend, Epworth in Fort Dodge, St. Paul’s in Waterloo and Marengo. He was on various Boards and Commissions of the Iowa Methodist Conference including Missions, Ministry, Pensions, Education and Camps. He was youth camp leader at Lake Okoboji and Director of Youth Camps at Clear Lake for several years.
He is survived by his 2 daughters, Vonda Birchmier and Evone (Dave) Vognsen both of Cedar Rapids; and a son, David of Portland, OR; 2 grandchildren, Joshua Vognsen and Maria Vognsen and Joshua’s friend, Kaitlin Schleis.
Preceded in death by his wife, Charlene; parents, Charles and Grace Birchmier; a brother, Larval Birchmier and a sister, Beulah Cremer.
Dawn Lynn McNeese
Dawn Lynn McNeese, 42, of Cedar Rapids, IA died Wednesday February 6, 2013 at her home in Cedar Rapids after a long battle with breast cancer. Per her request there will be no service. Private family visitation will be held. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Dawn was born July 11th, 1970 to Dinah Folkers and the late Dennis James. She graduated from Linn-Mar High, and has been a dedicated employee and manager at Cork N' Fork Deli of Cedar Rapids, where her customers will greatly miss her.
Dawn is survived by her children; Casey (Andrew) Huffman and Kaylee McNeese, as well as two grandchildren; Brooklyn Freno and Grant Huffman. She is also survived by her two brothers; Dennis (Margie) James of Marion, and Dan (Lynne) James of Independence, MO, as well as her loving partner Mike Goldsmith. Dawn was preceded in death by her father, Dennis James and her step-father, Merle Folkers.
Dawn dearly loved her family and always loved spending time with them. She was hard-working, dependable, and caring; always putting others before herself. She was very strong willed and a true inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
