Gordon E. Nicholson
Gordon E. Nicholson, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died March 13, 2013 at Living Center East Nursing Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, March 18, 2013 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. The family will greet friends, prior to the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Monday at the Chapel of Memories. Interment will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the interment at Christ Episcopal Church, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his son Bill Nicholson and wife Cindy of Cedar Rapids; a daughter Nancy Unash and husband Don of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Justin Hupfer and wife Amy, Jeff Hupfer, and Alex Nicholson and Bradley Nicholson; two great grandchildren, Nathan and Owen Hupfer; and daughter-in-law Kathy Reuter of Dubuque.
He was preceded in by his parents, wife Jane Nicholson, and two sons Edward and Paul Nicholson.
Gordon E. Nicholson was born December 8, 1918 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Delbert and Frances (O’Donnell) Nicholson. On October 7, 1942 he was united in marriage to Jane Coler in Cedar Rapids. They shared 61 wonderful years together, until she preceded him in death in 2004. Gordon was employed at Rockwell Collins, as a Systems Engineer, until he retired in 1988. His service of 47 years and five days made him the elder statesman of the Avionics Department. During his service he only missed a half-day due to illness. He was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church and a former Mason. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing, puzzles, and time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church.

Raymond "Ray" Donald Anderson
Raymond “Ray” Donald Anderson, 74, of Hiawatha, died Friday, March 8, 2013, at his home after an extended illness. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service/luncheon at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1363 First Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids. Ray donated his body to the University of Iowa for scientific purposes.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Anderson; children, Deadra (Ray) Terpkosh, Cecil (Jody) Anderson and Anna (Paul) Lemke; brothers, Lester (Corinne) Anderson and Elwood (Dominique) Anderson; sisters, Ardis Jacobson, Joann Haugenoe, Lavon Roberts, Kaye Lynn Anderson and Phyllis Berg; and grandchildren, Kristian, Lukas and Bailee Anderson and Jacob and Nathanael Lemke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anders and Mildred Anderson; brother, Merril Berg; and son, Dean Ruppert.
Ray was born in Ambrose, N.D., on Feb. 19, 1939. He attended Crosby, N.D., Public Schools. Ray served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1960 and joined Men’s Auxiliary VFW. Ray married Betty Ruppert on Dec. 21, 1963, in Las Vegas, Nev. They have lived in Iowa since 1967. Ray drove for Nash Finch 25 years, driving 45 years total. He received his pilot’s license in 1981 and enjoyed flying his Piper Tripace.

Kenneth Lee Erenberger
Kenneth Lee Erenberger, 81, a resident of Garnett Place died there peacefully on Friday March 9, 2013. Services at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday.
Survivors include two daughters, Kerry (Douglas) Kimm of Norway, and Patti (Peter) Sprague of Mt. Vernon; two sons Greg (Debbie) of Walford and Steve of Swisher; two brothers Vernon (Kay) of Cedar Rapids and Robert (Beverly) of Marion. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Rae Jean and a brother Donald.
Ken was born on May 3, 1931 in Johnson County, the son of Joseph and Lillian Trpkosh Erenberger. He married Rae Jean Schorg on July 24, 1952 in Ely. Rae Jean passed away in 2005.
Ken was the owner and operator of Kenny’s Appliance and Service in Cedar Rapids for over 32 years, retiring in 2004. Ken was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ely, the Ely City Council, Linn County Civil Defense and a 30 plus year veteran of the Ely Fire Dept.
Ken enjoyed doing yard work, gardening, travel with Rea Jean and especially the time spent with his beloved family and many friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Ely Fire Dept. in Ken’s name.

Charles L. Mysak
Charles L. “Charlie” Mysak, 90, of Marion formerly of Springville died Thursday March 7, 2013 at his home after a short illness. Services at 11:00 AM on Monday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 2 to 4 PM on Sunday.
Survivors include his wife, Deanna, daughter Sherry Mysak of Cedar Rapids;
a step-son Craig (Vicky) Cassabaum of Colorado; step- daughter Cara Cassabaum (Rocky) Morgan of Wyoming; two brothers Everett (Glenda) and Francis; two sisters Dorothy (Paul) Loehr and Emma Wenzel. He was preceded in death by three brothers Raymond, Henry, and Donald; two sisters Mary (Charlie’s twin) and Joan and three sisters-in-law Juanita, Lillian and Margery.
Charlie was born on February 1, 1923 in Prairieburg the son of Joseph and Lola Scroggins Mysak. He married Deanna E. Cassabaum on November 15, 1986 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Charlie did small engine repair and upholstery work for over 50 years in Springville. Over the years he pitched for the Springville town team and broke and trained horses as well as Labrador dogs.
Charlie enjoyed time spent with his family and many friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established.

Hazel M. Enfield
Hazel M. Enfield, 90, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013 at Meth-Wick Community surrounded by her loving family. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service, beginning at 10:00 AM at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A reception and luncheon will follow at the Cedar Memorial family center.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Charles Enfield of Cedar Rapids; a daughter Kathy Glowacki of Iowa City; 1 brother Frank Doerr of St. Louis MO; 6 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Cynthia Abraham, and 2 brothers.
Hazel Enfield was born November 30, 1922 in Beresford, South Dakota the daughter of Harry and Gertrude (Bache) Doerr. After graduation Hazel became a Registered Nurse. She was employed at Mercy Medical Center. She also worked for Frank Magid Associates as a coder for many years. Hazel married Charles Enfield on March 20, 1948 in Centerville, South Dakota. Hazel was a life long member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and traveling. Hazel will be greatly missed by her family and friends for her warmth and kindness to others, and her endless supply of smiles and love.
A memorial fund has been established.

Betty M . DeSotel
Betty M. Dauber DeSotel, 88, of Marion, died at St. Luke’s Hospital from complications of a stroke on Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel by the Rev. Carroll Brown. Interment: Oak Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her children, a daughter, Shirley (Arthur) Elliott of Hiawatha and a son of Iowa City; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Kenneth Dauber and Harold DeSotel, three sons, and two sisters.
Betty was born December 20, 1924 in Big Rock, Iowa to Ernest and Ruth Kirstein. She married Kenneth Dauber and later divorced. She then married Harold DeSotel in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1986. She was employed by Rockwell Collins for over 20 years, retiring in 1983. Betty was an avid bowler. She was a member of Kenwood Park United Methodist Church and All Church Singles.
Memorials may be directed to the family.

LaVerne A. Biskup
LaVerne A. Biskup, 89, of the Meth-Wick Community died there on Tuesday March 19, 2013 after a long illness. Services at 10:00 AM on Monday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include a son Karl William Biskup Jr. and his wife Jane of Texas City, Texas; two grandchildren Kristin Pollock and Brent Biskup; two great grandchildren, Amanda Pollock and Beau Biskup. She was preceded in death by two brothers.
LaVerne was born on July 20, 1923 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma the daughter of George Dewey Sr. and Zelma (Smith) Shotts. She married Karl W. Biskup Sr. on February 16, 1944 at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. Karl died in 1986. She later married Rev. Harold Sheppard on July 1, 1990 in Cedar Rapids. He died in 2000.
LaVerne was a secretary for the Cedar Rapids School System for over 28 years, retiring in 1984. She was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church, the Hoover Bridge Club and did volunteer work at Wilson Grade School.
LaVerne was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial fund has been established.
