Neil N. McElrath
Neil N. McElrath, 73, of Rancho Mirage, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, died Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at his home.
Services have been held. Palm Springs Mortuaries of Cathedral City, Calif. was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. McElrath was born Aug. 15, in Sioux City, the son of Clyde William and Ruth Florence (Green) McElrath. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946. He married Bonnie Vincent Jan. 12, 1946, in Long Beach, Calif. He had lived in Rancho Mirage for 25 years and was the proprietor of Neil's Apparel in Palm Springs, Calif. and Palm Desert, Calif.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Karen Powers of Long Beach, Meg Firestone of Rancho Mirage, and Mary Adornato of Los Altos Hills, Calif.; five sons, Stephen of Kona, Hawaii, Tim of Palm Desert, Michael of Yakima, Wash., Richard of Long Beach, and Mark of Buena Park, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas.
Joseph Weiner
Joseph "Jack" Weiner, 91, of Sioux City died Thursday, June 25, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel with spiritual leader James Sherman officiating. Burial will be at Independent Farane Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Mr. Weiner was born Jan. 15, 1907, in Sioux City, the son of Abraham and Fannie Weiner. He married Grace Ruhnke Jan. 10, 1950 at Norfolk, Va. He was a carnival concessionaire and barker for 30 years. He was employed as a salesman for Railroad Salvage and Siouxland Furniture from 1960 to his retirement in 1984.
He was a member of the United Orthodox Synagogue and the masonic blue lodge and Scottish Rites Bodies.
Survivors include his wife and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam and Gus.
Justin R. Buckley
Justin R. Buckley, 24, of Sioux City died Wednesday, June 24, 1998, at his home.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa with the Rev. Larry Fett officiating. Private burial will follow. Visitation will be 4 p.m. until the time of the service Monday with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Buckley wass born Jan. 19, 1974, in Le Mars, the son of Robert and Crystie (Popken) Buckley. He grew up in Orange City, Iowa and attended elementary school there. He graduated from high school in Houston, Texas and then attended college there. He had lived in Sioux City for the last three years and was employed at Gateway in North Sioux City as a technical support professional.
Survivors include his parents; a sister, April Buckley of Huron, S.D., two brothers, Christopher Buckley of Houston, and Wyatt Smith of Huron; a special friend, Jennifer Britton, of Sioux City; maternal grandmother, Marlene Staebell of Le Mars; paternal grandmother, Esther Buckley of Lake Preston, S.D.; and maternal great-grandmother, Esther Popken of Le Mars.
Frederick Bennett, Sr.
Frederick "Fred" Bennett, Sr., 85, of Sioux City died Thursday, June 25, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Larkin Northside Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael T. Larkin officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Bennett was born April 29, 1913, in Sioux City, the son of Elijah and Frances (Clark) Bennett. He attended school in Sioux City. He married Adda May Parker June 4, 1938, in Elk Point, S.D. He was a fireman and engineer for the Milwaukee Railroad for 49 years, retiring Feb. 5, 1978. He was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Georgia and her husband, Al McIver, of LaGrange, Ky, and Joan Ann Schille of Mission Viejo, Calif.; two sons, Fred, Jr. of Sioux City, and Paul and his wife, Hiroko, of Los Angeles; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances Bolton of South Sioux City, Neb.; and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, Edward, and Roy; and two sisters, Elizabeth and Mamie.
Pallbearers will be Mike Wilson, Joe Wilson, Kevin Bush, Donnie Prince, David Turner, Jr., and Bill Himes.
Thomas W. Chapple
Thomas W. Chapple, 54, of Sioux City died Thursday in Sioux City.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at United Methodist Church, Rustin Avenue. Memorial services will also be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Clark Funeral Home Chapel in Falls City, Neb. The body was cremated. Inurnment will be at a later date. There will be no visitation. Clark Funeral Home of Falls City, Neb. is in charge of the arrangements.

Russell V. Grau, 78, of Sioux City, died Friday; Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.
Julie R. Reetz
VERMILLION, S.D. - Julie R. Reetz, 12-year-old daughter of Gordon and Linda Reetz of Vermillion, died Thursday, June 25, 1998, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb. after a lengthy illness with cancer.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Vermillion. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Hansen Funeral Home in Vermillion, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Mildred L. Nuebel
LE MARS, Iowa - Mildred L. Nuebel, 84, of Le Mars died Thursday at her home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday with a Christian Mothers rosary at 4 p.m., a scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. and a Catholic Daughters rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.
George Hartman
HAWARDEN, Iowa - George William Hartman, 88, of Hawarden died Friday, June 26, 1998, at Hass Hillcrest Care Center in Hawarden.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the American Lutheran Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Jeff Swanson and the Rev. Andy Chako officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.
Mr. Hartman was born Dec. 19, 1909, near Akron, Iowa in Union County, S.D., the son of Bernhard and Trientje (Saathoff) Hartman. He was baptized July 3, 1910, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Chatsworth, Iowa and confirmed March 28, 1926, at Evangelical Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. He married Lula Anna C. Rohlfs Jan. 22, 1935, in Akron. They moved to a farm in Union County in 1935, and moved to the family farm in 1940. In 1950 he began raising registered Quarter Horses as a hobby. She died Nov. 11, 1974. He enjoyed helping other horse owners with their horses, and was a 48-year member of the American Quarter Horse Association along with many other horse organizations. He had also been a member of the Hawarden American Lutheran Church since 1968.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Wilbur and Yvonne of Hawarden; five grandchildren, Barbette Grimm, Chad Hartman, Kathy McInnis, Jenny Hartman, and Luke Hartman; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Helen Hartman of Akron, Merva Hartman and Lila Rohlfs, both of Hawarden, and Harriet Rohlfs of Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two infant brothers; four brothers, Hye, John, Alfred, and William; and four sisters, Tracy Hendricks, Minnie Jacobs, Tina Helmrichs, and Bernadine Kruse.
Louie Hamann
ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa - Louie Hamann, 92, of Rock Rapids, died Friday at Rock Rapids Health Center in Rock Rapids.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Alvord, Iowa. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Roste Funeral Home in Rock Rapids.
