Cecelia E. Marx
WATERBURY, Neb. - Cecelia E. Marx, 85, of South Sioux City, formerly of rural Waterbury, died Tuesday, June 23, 1998, at the Walker Colonial Manor in South Sioux City.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponca, Neb., with the Rev. James Bartak and the Rev. Harold Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Calvary at South Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 5 p.m. today, with the family present 1 to 3 p.m., at the Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca. Visitation will resume at 6:30 p.m. today, with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m., at the church.
Mrs. Marx was born Aug. 6, 1912, in rural Colome, S.D., the daughter of John and Mamie (Nemec) Noziska. She graduated from Porterville Union High School in 1930, in Porterville, Calif. She was employed at her parent's store in Spencer, Neb. from 1933 to 1937.
She married John N. Marx on May 31, 1937, in Spencer, Neb. The couple farmed at Columbus, Ohio for two years before returning to Nebraska. They farmed in the Waterbury and Ponca area for over 50 years. He died Sept. 15, 1993. She visited area schools for 13 years, teaching them about bee hives.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the St. Joseph's Altar Society.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Dr. John and Patricia of Lubbock, Texas and Nicholaus and Mary of McCook Lake, S.D.; five daughters, Cecelia and her husband Glenn "Bud" Patterson of Danbury, Iowa, Mary Dierking and Margaret Craig, both of Ponca, Helen and her husband Leonard "Pat" Meylor of Sioux City and Susan and her husband Dan Comstock of South Sioux City; a sister, Marilyn Konda of Porterville, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Charles R. Noziska; a sister, Lucille Connot; and two sons-in-law, Marnin Dierking and John Craig.
Pallbearers will be Greg and Tony Marx, Shawn Craig, Michael Meylor, Mark Comstock and James Steele.

MILFORD, Iowa - Shirley Brennan, 69, of Milford, formerly of Spencer, Iowa, died Wednesday at her residence.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Spencer. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer. Visitation will resume 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m. and a vigil service at 8 p.m., at the church.
Clifford Miller
GAYVILLE, S.D. - Clifford Miller, 57, of Gayville died of cancer Thursday at the Wakonda Heritage Manor.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bergen Lutheran Church in Meckling, S.D. Burial will be in Danish Cemetery at Gayville. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the Hansen Funeral Home in Vermillion, S.D.

VERMILLION, S.D. - Wendy S. Sanow, 20, formerly of Vermillion died Wednesday at St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre, S.D.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Vermillion. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Vermillion. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Hansen Funeral Home of Vermillion is in charge of the arrangements.
Jason J. Tentinger
REMSEN, Iowa - Jason John Tentinger, 16, of Remsen died of cancer Thursday, June 25, 1998, at the Orange City Hospital and Clinic in Orange City, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, with the Rev. Thomas J. Hart officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday, with parish rosaries at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., all at the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.
Jason was born March 9, 1982, in Orange City, the son of Jerry and Pat (Langel) Tentinger. He was raised in the Remsen area and attended Remsen-Union School.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his parents of Remsen; three brothers, Chad and his wife Susan, and twin brothers Scott and Todd, all of Remsen; a sister, Angela at home; a niece; and maternal grandmother, Harriet Langel of Le Mars, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Don Langel; and paternal grandparents, Erwin and Marie Tentinger.
Pallbearers will be Chad Scott, Todd David and Mike W. Tentinger and Mike Langel.

Caroline Larson, 92, of Sioux City died Sunday in Rock Rapids, Iowa.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service today at the funeral home.
Robert E. McHugh
Robert E. "Bob" McHugh, 45, of Sioux City died Monday, June 22, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, with the Rev. John Lee, chaplain at Marian Health Center, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. McHugh was born Nov. 16, 1952, in rural Onawa, Iowa, the son of Francis E. and Hazel M. (Johnson) McHugh. He attended Sioux City schools and was employed with Concrete Pipe Company. He enjoyed Iowa Hawkeyes football, fishing and bowling.
Survivors include his parents; two sisters, Debbie and her husband Rick Borg and Denise McHugh, all of Sioux City; and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Billy.
Pallbearers will be his nephews, Brian E., Kevin M. and Kurt B. Copeland. Other pallbearers will be Mike Sterrett and Del Maynard.
Marie P. Surber
Marie P. Surber, 96, of Sioux City died Wednesday, June 24, 1998, at her residence.
Memorial graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Eastview Cemetery at rural Allen, Neb. The Rev. Susan Miller, chaplain of Hospice of Siouxland, will officiate. There will be no visitation. Becker-Hunt Funeral Home of South Sioux City is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Surber was born Dec. 28, 1901, in Marcus, Iowa, the daughter of George and Julia (Harvey) Wixcel.
She married Ralph W. Surber on June 21, 1922, in South Sioux City. The couple lived on a farm near Waterbury, Neb. for over 50 years. They moved to Sioux City in 1973. He died Feb. 17, 1974, in Pender, Neb. She had been living with her daughter.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Kay and Red Clark of Cushing, Iowa and Carol and Barney Angles of Sioux City; two sons, Laurence and his wife Eleanor of Hilmar, Calif. and Ralph D. of Ponca, Neb.; six grandchildren, Don and Kelly Surber, Dan and David Jensen, Kim Ellison and Debbie Jensen; a stepgranddaughter, Becky Duckworth; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters, and a grandson, Gary Surber.

Leonard O. Lonseth, 96, of Sioux City died Tuesday; Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.
Mary L. Kaiser
SANBORN, Iowa - Mary Louise "Dolly" Kaiser, 68, of Sanborn, formerly of Melvin, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 23, 1998, at the Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at American Lutheran Church in Melvin, with the Rev. Philip Jorgensen officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Baker Township Cemetery at Melvin. Visitation will be after noon today, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., at the Sanborn Funeral Home in Sanborn.
Mrs. Kaiser was born July 4, 1929, in Melvin, the daughter of Clarence and Gertrude (Ahrend) Nonneman. She was raised in Melvin and graduated from Melvin Consolidated School.
She married Philip Kaiser on Aug. 27, 1947, in Melvin. The couple farmed near Primghar, Iowa for several years. They then moved to a farm near Melvin. She enter the Prairie View Nursing Home in October 1984.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters and their husbands, Kristine and Lance Sorensen of Hartley, Iowa, Kathy and Dennis Noble of Saginaw, Mich. and Mary Beth and Keith Van Meeteren of Sanborn; two grandsons, Jamie Noble and Karson Van Meeteren; and two brothers, Dennis Nonneman of Grant City, Mo. and Robert Nonneman of Melvin.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers will be Lance Sorensen, Keith and Karson Van Meeteren and Dennis and Jamie Noble.
