John E. Sharkey
STORM LAKE, Iowa - John "Jack" E. Sharkey, 53, of Storm Lake died unexpectedly Tuesday at the Buena Vista County Hospital in Storm Lake.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove, Iowa. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Visitation will resume from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Margaret Onderstal
ALLEN, Neb. - Margaret Onderstal, 72, of Allen died Tuesday at the Providence Medical Center in Wayne, Neb.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann Catholic Church in Dixon, Neb. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery at Allen. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Friday at the Bressler-Humlicek Funeral Home in Wakefield, Neb. There will be a rosary at 7 p.m. Friday at the church.

George D. McKown
LE MARS, Iowa - George DeWayne McKown, 53, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Le Mars, died Tuesday, June 23, 1998, in Fort Myers.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars. Private burial will be at a later date.
Mr. McKown was born Oct. 1, 1944, in Le Mars, the son of George B. and Elaine (Arens) McKown.
Survivors include his mother of Le Mars; a brother, Harry of Le Mars; three sisters, Barbara Macomber and Donna and her husband Jim Harlan, all of Le Mars and Ardith and her husband Steven Dunnam of Indiana; two daughters, Anitra and her husband Paul Gudbar of Storm Lake, Iowa and Patricia McKown of Sioux City; a grandson, Christopher Gudbar; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Harley and Florence McKown and Martin and Elizabeth Arens; and a grandnephew.

Keith S. Morehead
HAWARDEN, Iowa - Keith S. Morehead, 73, of Hawarden died Monday, June 22, 1998, at the Hawarden Community Hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at American Lutheran Church in Hawarden, with the Rev. Jeff Swanson officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Porter-Dow Funeral Home of Hawarden is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Morehead was born March 16, 1925, near Akron, Iowa, the son of Guy Charles and Ida (Hummel) Morehead. He was baptized and confimed in the Lutheran faith.
He married Grace (Osterkamp) Marienau on July 14, 1945, in Canton, S.D. The couple farmed in the Alcester, S.D. and Hawarden area.
He was a member of American Lutheran Church and a past member of the Pioneer Acres Threshing Bee in Hawarden. He enjoyed draft horses.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Larry and Suzie Morehead of Hawarden and James and Carolyn Marienau of Ankeny, Iowa; a brother and his wife, James and Marian of Sioux City; two sisters and their husbands, JoAnn and Jerry Perera of Sioux City and Mary Lou and Jerry Lundy of Gresham, Ore.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Nancy Lee; four brothers, Robert, Gordon, Fay and Clifford; and two sisters, Helen Jurgenson and Dorothy Hockett.

James E. Bennett
NEWCASTLE, Neb. - James E. "Gene" Bennett, 70, of Newcastle died Tuesday, June 23, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peters Catholic Church in Newcastle, with the Rev. James Bartak officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Newcastle, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post 62. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Visitation will resume at 5 p.m. today, with a parish wake service at 7:30 p.m., at the church.
Mr. Bennett was born Dec. 19, 1927, in Newcastle, the son of Raymond and Marguerite (Breslin) Bennett. He attended Maskell High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Asian/Pacific area. He was also stationed in Alaska from 1947 to 1948. He was awarded the Victory Medal.
He married Eve Faye Olander on Aug. 24, 1948, in Newcastle. The couple made their home in the Newcastle area until moving to Sioux City in the early 1950s. He was employed for several years at Missouri Valley Steel and then Concrete Pipe Company in Sioux City. They returned to the Newcastle area in 1970, where he farmed part time.
He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, the American Legion Post 62 of Newcastle and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5238 of Hartington, Neb.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Bill and Maureen of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Mark and Becky of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter and her husband, Madonna and Scott Castle of Clarinda, Iowa; a sister and her husband, Patricia and Keith Hassett of Fountain Valley, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Amy, Christine, Bill Jr. and Emma Bennett and Dominick Castle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Donna Lou Cyphers; and five infant daughters.
Pallbearers will be Barry, Bill Jr. and Scott Bennett, Joe, Jim and Tom Olander, Bob Hansen and Bill Knudson.

Eric J. Nelson
ANTHON, Iowa - Eric John Nelson, 40, of Anthon died Monday, June 22, 1998, of injuries suffered in a farm accident.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Fri day at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon, with the Rev. David Hogan officiating.Burial will be in Mount St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a vigil wake service at 7 p.m. followed by a rosary said by the Knights of Columbus, at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.
Mr. Nelson was born May 26, 1958, in Sioux City, the son of Roger E. and Marjorie (Boyle) Nelson. He was raised in the Anthon area and graduated from Anthon-Oto High School in 1977. He attended Western Iowa Tech Community College for one year. In July 1979, he became employed with Anthon Farm Center.
He married Tammy Fundermann on Aug. 29, 1980, in Anthon.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Third Degree Knights of Columbus. He was involved with the Anthon Advancers 4-H Club.
Survivors include his wife; two children, Sam and Charlie, both at home; his parents of Anthon; four brothers, Tim and his wife Pam of Meridan, Iowa, Tom and his wife Carla of Newcastle, Neb., Kirk of Lenexa, Kan. and Christopher and his wife Eileen of New Hampton, Conn.; four sisters, Nancy and her husband Rev. Dennis Balley of Independence, Iowa, Lori and her husband Lowell Lienemann of Houston, Texas, Sara Nelson of Dingmall, Nova Scotia and Kate and her husband James Gonzales of Lenexa, Kan.; and 15 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a sister, Susan.
A memorial has been established in his name.

Ervin H. Wilcke
IDA GROVE, Iowa - Ervin H. Wilcke, 83, of Ida Grove died Wednesday at the Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery at Battle Creek, Iowa. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

LeRoy C. Salmon
KIRON, Iowa - LeRoy C. Salmon, 77, of Kiron died Tuesday at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kiron. Burial will be in Kiron Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Friday at the Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison.

Charles J. Smith
DENISON, Iowa - Charles J. Smith, 89, of Denison, formerly of Dow City, Iowa, died Wednesday at the Dunlap Care Center in Dunlap, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Dow City. Burial will be in Dow City Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Sunday at the Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison.

Kelli A. Kauffman
ONAWA, Iowa - Kelli A. Kauffman, 33, of Onawa died Tuesday, June 23, 1998, at the St. Joseph/Creighton Hospital in Omaha, Neb., following complications of diabetes during her lifetime.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Onawa, with the Rev. Earle R. Potts officiating. Burial will be in Onawa City Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.
Miss Kauffman was born Dec. 9, 1964, in Perry, Iowa, the daughter of Carolyn (Jurgensen) Larson and Don L. Kauffman. She was raised in Lincoln, Neb. and graduated from Lincoln Southeast High School. She enjoyed music and her activities with various radio stations.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Carol and Leon Larson of Onawa; her father of Perry; three sisters, Krystal Kauffman Smith of Sergeant Bluff, Karie D. and her husband Larry Jones of Lincoln and Angela and her husband Brian Navrkal of Onawa; her grandmothers, Pauline Jurgensen of Whiting, Iowa and Eunice Larson of Onawa; a stepbrother, Charles Larson of Omaha; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Cecelia E. Marx
WATERBURY, Neb. - Cecelia E. Marx, 85, of South Sioux City, formerly of rural Waterbury, died Tuesday at the Walkers Colonial Manor in South Sioux City.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponca, Neb. Burial will be in Calvary at South Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, with the family present 1 to 3 p.m., at the Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca. Visitation will resume at 6:30 p.m. Friday, with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m., at the church.

May Gonnerman
HARTLY, Iowa - May Gonnerman, 83, of Hartley died Wednesday at the Spencer Municipal Hospital in Spencer, Iowa.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley. Burial will be at 1:15 p.m. Saturday in Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the Sanborn Funeral Home in Sanborn, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the church.
