Rita M. Bousquet
Rita M. "Molly" Bousquet, 77, of South Sioux City died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City, with the Rev. David Liewer officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. today at the Larkin Funeral Home. The body will be taken to the church, where visitation will resume from 5 to 8:30 p.m. today, with a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. and a rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Mrs. Bousquet was born June 21, 1920, in Ponca, Neb., the daughter of Daniel J. and Mary (Berens) Sullivan. She was raised in Ponca and graduated from Ponca High School.
She married Orelous P. Bousquet on May 6, 1941, in Ponca. The couple lived in Jackson, Neb., for five years before moving to South Sioux City 51 years ago. He died June 13, 1993, in South Sioux City.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, the Altar Society, an Advocate of Perpetual Adoration, the Legion of Mary, the Happy Hour Club and the Mid-American Dairy Association.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Janet and John Konrad of Boulder, Colo.; six sons, Gerald and his wife, Vicki, of Hubbard Neb., Mark and his wife, Pam, of Fort Worth, Texas, Dennis, Tom and his wife, Diane, Richard and his wife, Dawn, and Robert and his wife, Kari, all of South Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Francis and Jerry Sullivan of Morse Bluff, Neb.; 35 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Nicholas, Daniel, Jack, Clifford, Bud and Sport Sullivan; and two sisters, Dolly Sheehan and Kathleen Gosch.
Pallbearers will be Gerald, Dennis, Mark, Tom, Rick and Robert Bousquet.
Marie T. Conway
Marie T. Conway, 82, of Sioux City died Monday at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 6 to 9 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Irene DeRaad
Irene DeRaad, 85, of Sioux City died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with Mr. Dean Swenson and Mr. John Wilhoit officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 5 to 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
Miss DeRaad was born Feb. 29, 1912, in Ireton, Iowa, the daughter of William and Anna (Muilenburg) DeRaad. She moved to Sioux City in 1947.
She was employed with Wincharger Corporation and Dynatechnology for 23 years.
Survivors include a sister, Grace DeRaad of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Alice DeRaad of Garretson, S.D.; and three nephews, Ralph, Duane and Robert DeRaad.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Gertrude, Josephine, Arminta and Winifred DeRaad; and a brother, Alvin DeRaad.
Connie B. Howard
Connie B. Howard, 63, of rural Dakota City died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997, at a South Sioux City nursing home following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home, with the Rev. Nathan Houfek, pastor of Salem Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Howard was born Feb. 7, 1934, in Sioux City, the daughter of Wallace D. and Beatrice M. (Clemmons) Ellis. She graduated from Central High School in 1951.
She married Robert C. Howard on Aug. 2, 1952, in South Sioux City.
She was a former employee at IBP.
Mrs. Howard was of the Lutheran faith.
Survivors include her husband; a son and his wife, Terry and Jackie of Orient, Iowa; two daughters, Kimberly and her husband, Lynn Klitz, of Crete, Neb., and Maureen Warnock of South Sioux City; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers will be Bob Boals, Dave and Chuck Beermann, Tom Reed, Hans Houfek and Ron McClean.
Kathrine L. Kellogg
Kathrine L. "Katie" Kellogg, 62, of Sioux City died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at Westwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. A.T. Washington officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Correctionville Cemetery at Correctionville, Iowa. There will be no visitation.
Mrs. Kellogg was born Nov. 25, 1935, in Cherokee County in Iowa, the daughter of Elvin Sr. and Elizabeth (Boettger) Jenness. She graduated from Correctionville High School in 1953.
She married Walton Marshall Kellogg in 1955, in Sioux City. He died in 1958, in Sioux City.
She was a member of several country western bands in the area, singing and playing guitar. She was a radio guest several times of the band Timberroojans in the 1950s. She enjoyed her pet dogs.
Survivors include two sons, Arthur "Bud" and his wife, Kristi, of Marcus, Iowa, and Warren Michael of Cherokee, Iowa; two brothers, Floyd Jenness of Leavenworth, Kan., and Richard Edwards of Sioux City; two sisters and their husbands, Joyce and Raymond Saxen of Pierson, Iowa, and Marcella and Clifford Streed of LaBelle, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Alvin "Chummy" Edwards; and a brother, Harold.
Roy I. Kent
Roy I. Kent, 89, of Sioux City died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, at a Sioux City nursing home following a brief illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Roger Graf, pastor of Morningside Presbyterian Church, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Laurel Cemetery at Laurel, Neb.
Mr. Kent was born Oct. 28, 1908, in Laurel, the son of Henry J. and Minnie M. (Smith) Kent. He was raised on a farm in the Laurel area.
He married Levern Spike on Aug. 27, 1930, in Sioux City. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1938.
He was employed with Western States Manufacturing Company until retiring in 1974.
He was of the Presbyterian faith.
Mr. Kent was a member of the Sioux City Eagle's Club and enjoyed dancing and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, LeRoy and Coni of Sioux City; three daughters, Lorraine and her husband, Donald Windle, Shirley and her husband Marvin Carrell, and Rita Kobes, all of Sioux City; a sister, Pauline Marshall of Wendell, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

S. Gertrude Schreiber, 84, of Sioux City died Tuesday at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and a parish vigil service 7 p.m., at the Larkin Morningside Funeral Home.

Robert "Bobby" L. Olson, 46, of Sioux City died Tuesday; Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.
Alice Bjork
ELK POINT, S.D. - Alice Bjork, 67, of Elk Point died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997, at Prairie Estates Care Center in Elk Point following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Elk Point, with the Rev. Susan Miller, Hospice chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in Elk Point Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bjork was born April 18, 1930, in Burbank, S.D., the daughter of Wilburt and Audrey (Landers) Smith.
She married E.V. "Duffy" Bjork on Aug. 30, 1958, in Luverne, Minn. He died Oct. 17, 1992.
She was employed at the Union County courthouse for many years, at Terminal Grain in Vermillion, S.D., and the Valley Bank of Union County, until retiring in May 1995.
She was a member of United Parish Church in Elk Point.
Survivors include her mother; three daughters, Audrey and her husband, Ralph Morse, Jean and her husband, Paul Limoges, and Debra Bjork, all of Elk Point; seven grandchildren, Reece, Karissa, Lauren, Kyle, Jared, Alicia and Aylssa; a great-grandson; two sisters, Marjorie Burrell of Elk Point and Cleo Bowers of Alcester, S.D.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and two infant brothers.
Joan Brenneman
ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa - Joan Brenneman, 75, of Rock Rapids died unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids, with the Rev. William DeYoung officiating. Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Sioux Center, Iowa. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the church. Roste Funeral Home of Rock Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Brenneman was born Sept. 4, 1922, in Sioux Center, the daughter of Pleun and Lillian (Van Putten) DeZeeuw. She was raised in Sioux Center and graduated from high school in 1940. She attended Northwestern Academy in Orange City, Iowa, for one year.
She married Andrew Brenneman on March 22, 1945, in Sioux Center. The couple farmed near Sioux Center for eight years before moving to a farm near Rock Rapids. In 1985, they retired from farming and moved into Rock Rapids.
She was a member of First Reformed Church, where she taught Sunday School and was a Bible Study leader. She was the secretary of First Reformed Church for 21 years and a foster grandparent at Central Lyon Elementary School for six years. She enjoyed reading and writing poems.
Survivors include her husband; four sons and their wives, Howard and Arla of Hartford, S.D., Arlin and Glenda of Orange City, Wendell and Debra of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Carl and Barb of Alton, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; and five sisters, Edith Sietstra of Boyden, Iowa, and Doris Harmelink, Gertrude Punt, Freda Mouw and Frances Schuiteman, all of Sioux Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Orvetta Carlson
ALTA, Iowa - Orvetta Carlson, 92, of Alta died Monday at Buena Vista County Hospital in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta. Burial will be in Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Barker Funeral Home in Alta.

HAWARDEN, Iowa - Arthur Neil Coleman, 77, of Hawarden died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at Regency Square Care Center in South Sioux City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Fri day at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden, with the Rev. Dean Shelly, pastor of Hawarden United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Coleman was born July 31, 1920, in Hudson, S.D., the son of Cecil and Ida (Dennison) Coleman.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married Marjorie Thorpe on Oct. 18, 1945, in Canton, S.D.
He was employed as a mechanic and worked or owned a service station his entire adult life. He enjoyed music, fishing and cars.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Randy of Santa Maria, Calif., Bob of Oxford, England, and Brad and Bruce, both of Hawarden; two daughters and their husbands, Jackie and Lonny Larson of Hawarden and Nancy and Randy Barker of Sioux City; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Christian of Iowa City, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Peggy Jane; and four sons, Ronnie Neil, Glenn Douglas, Marty Keith and Cory Ralph.
Jane De Vries
SERGEANT BLUFF, Iowa - Jane De Vries, 72, of Sergeant Bluff, formerly of Sioux City, died unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at her residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thurs day at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, with the Rev. Martha Anderson, pastor of Rustin Avenue Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton, Iowa. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. De Vries was born May 28, 1925, in Rotterdam, Netherlands, the daughter of Bastiaan and Aagje (Snyder) Den Ouden.
She married Thomas L. De Vries on Oct. 13, 1949, in Le Mars, Iowa. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1949 and then to Sergeant Bluff in 1960.
Survivors include her husband; three sons and their wives, Thomas Jr. and Elaine of Florissant, Mo., Steve and Kim of Salix, Iowa, and Michael and Tina of Sioux City; two daughters and their husbands, Deborah and John Hercha of Lawrence, Kan., and Theresa De Vries and Tim Colliton of Eden Prairie, Minn.; four brothers and their wives, Lorence and Lanky Den Ouden of Chino, Calif., Leo and Bets Den Ouden of Escalon, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Bastiaan Den Ouden of North Highlands, Calif., and Case and Johanna Den Ouden of Winton, Calif.; two sisters, Johanna De Waard of Norwalk, Calif., and Nellie Koster of Visalia, Calif.; and seven grandchildren, William and Janet Rickabaugh and Brett, Andy, Scott, Brock and Alec De Vries.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and two sisters.

Nellie Hinkhouse
PIERSON, Iowa - Nellie Hinkhouse, 94, of Pierson died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, at Correctionville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Correctionville, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Pierson Christian Church, with the Rev. Les Larson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today at the Earnest and Michaelson Funeral Home in Knigsley, Iowa.
Mrs. Hinkhouse was born Sept. 13, 1903, near Moville, Iowa, the daughter of John and Rose (Harrison) Williams. She was raised on a farm near Moville and attended schools in the Moville area and Sioux City.
She married W.B. "Willie" Hinkhouse on Oct. 9, 1921, in Moville. The couple farmed in the Pierson area until retiring in 1946. They owned and operated the H&H Grocery Store from 1955 to 1960. He died May 29, 1989.
She was a member of the Pierson American Legion Auxiliary, the Eastern Star Pierson Chapter 509 and the Rebekha Lodge.
Survivors include four sons, Robert and his wife, Bette, and Duane and his wife, Marvel, all of Pierson, Ronald and his wife, Joyce, of Green Bay, Wis. and Roger of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Jeanne Denis of Green Bay, Wis.; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, Leslie and Walter Williams; two sisters, Besse Sparks and Marjorie DeLambert; and a son-in-law, Richard Denis.

DAKOTA COUNTY, Neb. Lawrence A. Johanson, 82, of Forks and Seattle, Wash., formerly of Dakota County, died Sunday in Forks.
Services will be Saturday in Forks. Burial will be in Seattle.

ROYAL, Iowa - Helen Klatt, 82, of Royal died Monday at Longhouse Residence in Spencer, Iowa.

DENISON, Iowa - Bernard Lackman Sr., 76, of Denison died Monday at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Neb.

ODEBOLT, Iowa - Lyle M. Reis, 70, of Odebolt died Tuesday at Horn Memorial hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa.
Services will be at noon Saturday at the Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Odebolt. Burial will be in Odebolt Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Vincent J. Schmitz
KIRON, Iowa - Vincent J. "Bud" Schmitz, 76, of Kiron died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997, at Buena Vista County Hospital in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa, with the Rev. Larry W. Odle officiating. Private burial will be in Kiron Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Schmitz was born July 21, 1921, in Maryhill, Iowa, the son of William and Martha (Lineback) Schmitz. He was raised in Cherokee, where he received his education.
He was employed in road construction.
He married Maryln Larson on Oct. 16, 1941, in Dakota City.
He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He returned to Kiron, where he was employed as a mechanic at the garage at Kiron and later with Kollbaum Farm Equipment. Following his retirement, he did private mechanic work. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry of Le Mars, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Patricia and Bill Blunk of Kiron; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mae Timmins of Omaha, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Henry.
Ronald Sullivan
RANDOLPH, Neb. - Ronald Sullivan, 46, of Norfolk, Neb., formerly of Randolph, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, at his residence of an apparent heart attack.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Norfolk, with the Rev. Tom Fangman officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Home for Funerals in Norfolk. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. today at the church.
Mr. Sullivan was born Aug. 15, 1951, in Ponca, Neb., the son of John and Alice (Hillen) Sullivan. He attended school in Randolph, where he graduated from St. Frances High School in 1969.
He married Lynette Van Slyke on Sept. 4, 1971, in Randoph.
He was employed at the Norfolk Coca-Cola plant, and since 1981 at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Plant, where he was a department manager.
He was a member of St. Mary's Sacred Heart Catholic Parish.
Survivors include his sons, Scott and Marty, both of Norfolk; and three brothers, Richard of Norfolk and John and Gene, both of Randolph.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gilbert F. Uhl
MAPLETON, Iowa - Gilbert F. Uhl, 81, of Mapleton died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton, with the Rev. Edmund Tiedeman officiating. Burial will be in Danbury Catholic Cemetery at Danbury, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a vigil wake service at 7:15 p.m., at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.
Mr. Uhl was born Feb. 2, 1916, near Danbury, the son of Lewis and Ceclia (Prokop) Uhl.
He married Ruby Boettger on Sept. 2, 1941, in Sioux City. The couple farmed in the Danbury area until moving into Mapleton in 1994.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; three sons and their wives, Marvin and Norma of Danbury and Ronald and Kay and Roger and Benita, all of Mapleton; two daughters and their husbands, Darlene and Dale Limoges of Granger, Iowa, and Charlene and Arnold Grell of Moville, Iowa; a brother and his wife, Louis and Darlene of Alhambra, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

ROCK VALLEY, Iowa - Irma Jean Ver Meulen, 86, of Rock Valley died Monday at Valley Manor in Rock Valley.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rock Valley. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.

DENISON, Iowa - Skeet West, 59, of Denison died Saturday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Denison.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. today at the funeral home.
Randi J. Wilder
HARRIS, Iowa - Randi Jeanne Wilder, 44, of Escondido, Calif., formerly of Harris, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, at her parents' residence in Harris following a lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today at United Methodist Church in Hartley, Iowa, with the Rev. John Rosenberger officiating. There will be no visitation. Warner-Baumgarten Funeral Home of Hartley is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Wilder was born March 31, 1953, in Cherry Point, N.C., the daughter of Bill and Dorothy (Jobes) Selby. She graduated from Hartley High School in 1971, and attended the Spencer (Iowa) School of Business.
She was employed as an office manager and secretary with a law firm in Omaha, Neb.
She married Lee L. Wilder Jr. on Aug. 12, 1990, at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. The couple lived in Japan for three year, where she did volunteer service as an administrator for the Wing Safety Office. In 1993, they moved to California, where she was employed as an legal secretary and then as an assistant manager of time share for Lawrence Welk Estates Resort. They had lived in Escondido since 1994. She enjoyed music, crafts and reading.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Lee L. Wilder III; her parents of Harris; three sisters, Julia and her husband, Stan Meyer, of Hartley, Glenda and her husband, Tom Myers, of Fairbank, Iowa, and Annette Selby and Todd Zellmer of Minnesota Lake, Minn.; and six nieces and nephews.

IDA GROVE, Iowa - Janice Ann Winterhof, 51, of Ida Grove died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at her residence.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Church of God in Ida Grove, with the Rev. Daniel Price officiating. Burial will be in Ida Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove.
Mrs. Winterhof was born Jan. 28, 1946, in Ida Grove, the daughter of Charles and Betty (Vickery) Phelps. She graduated from Galva High School in Galva, Iowa, then attended the University of South Dakota.
She married Ronald Winterhof on June 19, 1966, in Ida Grove. The couple resided in Arizona, where she was employed as an Indian education specialist for the Chandler (Ariz.) Department of Education for eight years. In 1985, the couple returned to Iowa, where they farmed near Galva.
She was a member of the Eastern Star Maple Chapter 337. She enjoyed gardening and animals.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter and her husband, Christine and Matthew Wunschel of Arthur, Iowa; two grandchildren, Brittany and Stefan Wunschel; her parents of Ida Grove; a sister and her husband, Susan and Tom Rongitsch of Minneapolis, Minn.; and her special friend, Margaret West of Ida Grove.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Purl and Flora Vickery; and her paternal grandparents, Gertie and Chester Phelps.
A memorial has been established.
