Lola M. Clark
Lola M. Clark, 80, of Sioux City died Friday, Nov. 28, 1997, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Stephanie Raphael-Nakos, pastor of Trimble United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Clark was born Jan. 7, 1917, in McLean, Neb., the daughter of William H. and Olive M. (Newman) Moseley. She graduated from Randolph, Neb., High School. She moved to Sioux City in 1934.
She married Richard H. Clark on Oct. 5, 1946, in Biloxi, Miss. He died May 26, 1961, in Sioux City. She retired in April 1981.
She was a constituant of Trimble United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Julia and Allen Eide of Watertown, S.D.; a brother and his wife, Dewey and Lillie of Seattle, Wash.; two sisters, Eunice Arndt of Eustis, Fla. and Loretta and her husband Cole Hagland of Wakefield, Neb.; three grandchildren, John, Susan and Laura Eide; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Orville and Elwood Moseley; and two sisters, Emma Dayton and Lulu Schuler.
Daniel K. Johnson
Daniel K. Johnson, 47, of Manchester, Tenn., formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 1997, at a Tullahoma, Tenn. hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. David F. Fechner, pastor of Faith Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8:30 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Johnson was born March 14, 1950, in Sioux City, the son of K. Paul and Doris (Smith) Johnson. He attended Crescent Park Elementary School, West Junior High School and Central High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a journeyman electrician.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
Survivors include his mother of Sioux City; two sons, Daniel Hoff of Clarence, Iowa and Randy Hoff of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four brothers, Kenneth of Mount Clemens, Mich., Carl of Sergeant Bluff, David of Hopkins, Minn. and Jay of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Nancy Johnson of Plano, Texas; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Mary Lou Johnson
Mary Lou Johnson, 82, of Sioux City died Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Nelson-Berger Norhtside Chapel, with the Rev. John W. Meyer officiating. A private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Johnson was born Aug. 6, 1915, in Sioux City, the daughter of Warren E. and Edna (Murphy) Preston. She graduated from Central High School in 1932.
She married Vern R. Johnson on Dec. 13, 1936, in Elk Point, S.D. She was employed with McMaus-Green Insurance Company as an underwriter until retiring in 1976.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors inlcude a sister, Eloise Moss of Sioux City and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Harry, Mark "Fish", Ted and Clifford; and two sisters, Catherine Murphy and Lois Hagen.
Memorials in her name may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Opal Johnson
Opal Johnson, 82, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Sunday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Roberta L. Johnson
Roberta L. Johnson, 62, of Lincoln, Neb., formerly of Scottsbluff, Neb. and Sioux City, died Saturday in Lincoln following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Mayme G. Lacy
Mayme G. Lacy, 90, of Sioux City died Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997, at a South Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Dillinger officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. Michael Cemetery at Coleridge, Neb. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today, with a rosary said by the Catholic Daughters of America at 4 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at the Larkin Northside Funeral Home.
Miss Lacy was born Jan. 3, 1907, in Coleridge, the daughter of James and Margaret Lacy. She came to Sioux City as a young woman. She was employed at the Sioux City Livestock Exchange Bank and Norwest Bank at the Stockyards.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America Ave Maria Court.
Survivors include her nieces, nephews and cousins.
Elsie B. Schultz
Elsie B. Schultz, 96, of Sioux City died Friday, Nov. 28, 1997, at the Casa de Paz Care Center following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Allen D. Call, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Schultz was born May 6, 1901, in Bloomington, Ill., the daughter of Robert J. and Etta (DuBray) Stanton.
She married John C. Schultz on July 10, 1920, in Hornick, Iowa. He died Sept. 14, 1969, in Sioux City. The couple resided in Bronson, Iowa and later moved to Grand Island, Neb., where they resided during World War II. They then moved to Sioux City.
She was of the Methodist faith. She was a member of the Moose Lodge 752 and the Royal Neighbors.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Robert and Donna of Grand Island and Richard and Ann of Elkhorn, Neb.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Clifford; three brothers; and four sisters.
Memorials may be directed to the Moose Lodge 752.
Eileen M. Smith
Eileen M. Smith, 71, of Sioux City died Saturday at her residence.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Jane Swanson McGarry, 52, of Sioux City died Saturday at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the fmaily present from 7 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Clara M. Andrews
BERESFORD, S.D. - Clara M. Andrews, 91, of Beresford died Friday, Nov. 28, 1997, at the Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Roseni Lutheran Church at rural Beresford. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at the Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.
Mrs. Andrews was born Aug. 4, 1906, near Merrill, Iowa. Her mother died when she was 6 years old, and she was raised by the Henry Klemme family near Akron. She attended Pleasant Hill rural school and later worked as a housekeeper for area families.
She married Clarence Andrews on Jan. 31, 1923, in Sioux City. The couple lived in the Beresford area. They later farmed in the Akron and Beresford areas. She entered the Bethesda Nursing Home in 1991. He died in 1994.
She was a member of Roseni Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and the Beresford Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, Donald of Beresford; a daughter, Arabelle Peterson of Beresford; a daughter-in-law, Elva Andrews of Beresford; 12 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Donald Bergman
ARTHUR, Iowa - Paul "Donald" Bergman, 81, of Arthur died Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997, at his residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Evangelical Free Church in Arthur, with the Rev. Robert Lundberg officiating. Burial will be in Hayes Township Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today at the Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove, Iowa.
Mr. Bergman was born April 23, 1916, in Ida County, Iowa, the son of Nels and Ida (Anderson) Bergman. He attended Hayes Township County School. He married Alma Grace Devine on Oct. 1, 1940, in San Antonio, Texas.
He farmed in Ida County all his life, except during World War II, when he worked at Douglas Aircraft in California.
He was a member of Arthur Evangelical Free Church, the Ida County Historical Society and was president of the Hayes Township Cemetery board.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald of of Elva Beach, Hawaii and Barry and his wife Susan of Arthur; three daughters and their husbands, LaDonna and Sterling Nelson of Des Moines, Karen and Charles Ellcey of Balch Springs, Texas and Lori and Dan Thompson of Mesquite, Texas; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ione Seaberg of Minneapolis, Minn., Elsie Lewis and his twin, Doris Donaldson, both of Vista, Calif.; and two brothers, Carl of Desert Hot Springs, Calif. and Gene of Kiron, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a brother, Floyd; and a sister, Isabell Meltesen.
Lois A. Blake
CHEROKEE, Iowa - Lois Alverda Blake, 61, of Cherokee, formerly of West Hollywood, Calif., died Saturday at the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee following a lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Church of Christ in Cherokee. The body was cremated. There will be no visitaiton. Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee is in charge of the arrangements.
Boyd A. Deakins
CHEROKEE, Iowa - Boyd Alan Deakins, 49, of Cherokee, formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa and Sioux City, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997, at the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee following a brief illness.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, with the Rev. Tim Johnson, pastor at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, Iowa, officiating. The body was cremated. There will be no visitation.
Mr. Deakins was born Aug. 19, 1948, in Pueblo, Colo., the son of James and Lillian (Predovich) Deakins. He was raised in the Salida, Colo. area. He was employed with Marian Health Center in Sioux City, as a construction coordinator for several years. He also worked in construction in the Storm Lake area.
He was a past president of the Marian Health C.D.S. Alumni. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
Survivors include two daughters, Shawna Deakins of Dakota Dunes and Summer Deakins of Wheeling, W.V.; a son, John of Sioux City; a grandson, Anthony Deakins; two stepbrothers; and three stepsisters.
Ivan Kruse
EVERLY, Iowa - Ivan Kruse, 75 of Everly died Saturday at the Spencer, Iowa, Municipal Hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly. Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery. Visitation will be today, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
Gerhard Moller
CHATSWORTH, Iowa - Gerhard "Gary" Moller, 76, of Chatsworth died unexpectedly Friday, Nov. 28, 1997, at his residence.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Plymouth Presbyterian Church in rural Akron, Iowa, with the Rev. Randall Knuth officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Hoschler American Legion Post 186 of Akron and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 915 of Elk Point, S.D. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.
Mr. Moller was born Aug. 30, 1921, in rural Akron, the son of John and Johanna (Nielsen) Moller. He attended school in rural Akron.
He married Cecilia Collmann on Dec. 29, 1947, in rural Akron. He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II. The couple farmed for 30 years prior to moving to Chatsworth in 1978. He was a carpenter until retiring in 1996.
He was a member of Plymouth Presbyterian Church, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and several bowling leagues in Akron. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, gardening and carpentry.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Gary and Maria of Bellevue, Neb. and Jim and Patti of Grimes, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Linda and Kenneth Johnson of Omaha, Neb.; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandsons; four great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, John and Lillian of Craig, Iowa and Robert and Velma of Hawarden, Iowa; a sister, Ann Anderson of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and Henry.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Moller, Kyle, Kaun and Kenneth Johnson, Michael Laney and Dale Griger.
Howard Moser
ALVORD, Iowa - Howard Moser, 59, of Alvord died Friday at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. following a brief illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery at Lester, Iowa. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Roste Funeral Home in Rock Rapids.

SPENCER, Iowa - Amanda Pierson, 94, of Spencer died Friday at the Ruthven, Iowa Care Center.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Lila M. Rees
LE MARS, Iowa - Lila Mae Rees, 89, of Le Mars died Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997, at the Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Lynn Potter officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2:30 p.m. today at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.
Miss Rees was born July 17, 1908, near Seney, Iowa, the daughter of William and Mathilda (Detloff) Rees. She was baptized and confirmed in the United Methodist faith. She attended school in Seney.
She worked with her parents on the family farm and later continued to live and work on the farm with her brother. She was later employed as a custodian at the Le Mars Community High School until retiring in 1965. She had also cleaned homes and did child care in her home.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed music.
Survivors include two brothers, Harold Rees of Mountain Lake, Minn. and Melvin Rees of Luverne, Minn. a sister, Cleone Dunne of Wilmar, Minn.; two nephews and three nieces.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Orville and Wallace Rees.
Lena Reimers
HARTLEY, Iowa - Lena Reimers, 88, of Philip, S.D., formerly of Hartley, died Sunday at the Philip Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley. There will be no public visitation. Warner-Baumgarten Funeral Home of Hartley is in charge of the arrangements.
Virginia Robertson
HAWARDEN, Iowa - Virginia Robertson, 96, of Longwood, Fla., formerly of Hawarden, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997, at the South Seminole Hospital in Longwood.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Hawarden, with the Rev. Andy Chako and the Rev. Robert Weiss officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be today at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Robertson was born Sept. 3, 1901, in Greenville, Ky., the daughter of George and Minnie (Brooks) Melton. Shr married E. Ray Robertson on April 12, 1921, in Greenville. The couple moved to Hawarden in 1945. He died Aug. 11, 1971. She moved to Florida in 1993.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and a member of the Womens Fellowship.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Norma and Robert Weiss of Longwood, Fla. and Barbara and Lyle Earll of Bigelow, Minn.; two brothers, Lloyd and George Melton, both of Louisville, Ky.; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

AKRON, Iowa - Dan R. Sanders, 62, of Akron died Sunday at the Akron Care Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.
Pete J. Schmidt
CROFTON, Neb. - Pete Joseph Schmidt, 84, of Crofton died Saturday at Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, S.D.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Crofton. Burial will be in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. and a rosary at 8 p.m., at the Wintz Funeral Home in Crofton.
