Larry F. Schreiner
Larry F. Schreiner, 36, of Sioux City died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1997, at his residence.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars, Iowa, with the Rev. Timothy A. Friedrichsen officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Remsen, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Monday, with a rosary by the Altar Society at 4 p.m., and a Scriptural wake service at 6:30 p.m., at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Mr. Schreiner was born May 11, 1961, in Le Mars, the son of Martin and Marie (Stodden) Schreiner. He was raised in Remsen and graduated from Remsen-Union High School in 1979.

He had been employed with IBP in Dakota City, and later with Darling-Delaware in Alton, Iowa, until an industrial accident in 1988. He lived in Sioux City since 1988.

He was a member of Catholic Order of Foresters in Remsen.

Survivors include a son, Ethan Schreiner; a special friend, Linda Fox, both of Sioux City; his parents of Maurice, Iowa; three sisters and their husbands, Shyrl and Clyde Loehr, Susan and Michael Mitchell, all of Des Moines, Iowa, and Linda and Tony Rohlk of Sioux Center, Iowa; and a brother and his wife, Dan and Dee Ann of Atlantic, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Francis and Sophie Stodden; and paternal grandparents, John P. and Katherine Schreiner.

Muriel T. DeKoster
Muriel T. (Colvin) DeKoster, 92, of Sioux City died Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997, at Westwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.

Funeral Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time on Tuesday at the church. The Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Gladys S. Frenchick
Gladys S. Frenchick, 97, of Sioux City died Saturday at a Sioux City nursing home following a brief illness.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at Logan Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Carol L. Heckert
Carol L. Heckert, 52, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Friday at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Anderson-Perasso Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Cyril "Curly" Wagers, 81, of Hawarden, Iowa died Saturday; Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Mildred Ofstehage
VERMILLION, S.D. - Mildred Louise Ofstehage, 87, of Vermillion died Friday, Dec. 5, 1997, at Sunrise Manor in Sioux City.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Elk Point, S.D., with the Rev. Mary Feistner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home in Vermillion.

Mrs. Ofstehage was born Aug. 15, 1910, in rural Elk Point, S.D., the daughter of Michael and Laura (Lehne) Halderson. Her mother died when she was three weeks old and she was raised by her maternal grandparents until her father married her mother's sister, Bertha Lehne, Oct. 10, 1914.

She attended Coyote School in rural Union County, S.D. and was graduated from Augustana Academy at Canton, S.D. in 1928. She was a 1932 graduate of Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D., and attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis.

She taught at Lamont School in Union County and at Fairview and Sherman, S.D. She also served as deputy superintendent of schools for Union County.

She married Philip Ofstehage on Dec. 27, 1941, at St. Paul Church. The couple farmed in Brule Township of Union County. He died April 2, 1980. In 1981, she moved into Vermillion.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the Union and Clay County Farm Bureau organizations and Vermillion Senior Citzens.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Bernard and Glenda Ofstehage of Elk Point; two daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Glenn Olson of Sioux City, and Marlene and John Wilson of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Agnes Halderson of Sioux City and Irene Sommervold of Vermillion and eight grandchildren, Steven, Daniel, James, Peter, Andrew and Ellen Ofstehage and Gregory and Douglas Olson.

Mamie M. Lochmiller
DENISON, Iowa - Mamie M. Lochmiller, 90, of Denison died Friday at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Burial will be in Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison.

Francis Ulrich Schulte
SCHLESWIG, Iowa - Francis Ulrich Schulte, 69, of Schleswig died Monday, Dec. 1, 1997, at Bishop Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Neb.

Funeral Mass took place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, 1997, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Westphalia, Iowa, with the Rev. Andrew Hoffman and the Rev. Joe Brown officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Pauley Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa, handled arrangements.

Mr. Schulte was born Jan. 17, 1928, in Westphalia, the son of Rudolph and Veronica (Albers) Schulte. He attended St. Boniface Catholic School, graduating in 1945.

He married Rita Catherine Coenen on Feb. 3, 1949, in Westphalia. The couple resided in in Manilla for a few years before moving to Westphalia. They had four children. She died May 30, 1978, in Chandler, Ariz.

He married Edyth Bubke on March 17, 1979, in Westphalia. The couple made Westphalia their home, where he managed Westphalia Co-op. In 1981 they moved to Omaha, Neb., where they managed the O.E.A. Manor in Omaha. They moved to Schleswig in 1995.

He was very active in the community. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison, Knights of Columbus, Council #1741 of Earling, Iowa, Westphalia Fire Department, Westphalia Athletic Club, Town Council, and coached softball.

Survivors include his wife, Edyth; 10 sons; Terry and his wife, LaVonne Schulte of Westphalia; David Schulte and friend, Jo Olson of Harlan; Leroy Bubke of Harlan; Tom Bubke and wife, Cathy of Schleswig; Donnie Bubke of Mapleton, Iowa; Mike Bubke of Worthington, Minn.; Leon Bubke and friend, Colleen of Denison; Roger Bubke and his wife, Alisa of Nemaha, Iowa; Steve Bubke and his wife, Terri of Omaha, Nebr.; Tim Bubke and his wife, Lila of Schleswig; five daughters, Diann Taylor of Red Oak, Iowa; Maria Evans of Pusan, South Korea; Barbara (Suze) and her husband, Gailen Lyman of Chandler, Ariz.; Pam and her husband, Dick King of Omaha; Connie and her husband, Dewey Lee of Charter Oak, Iowa; a sister and her husband, Mary Ellen and Leonard Keating Jr. of Charter Oak; a brother and his wife, Harold and Pearl Schulte of Westphalia; 52 grandchildren; and 41 great-grancdhildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Rita.

Pallbearers were Dane Lee, Corby, Troy, Dan, and Todd Schulte, and Russ Quandt.

Laurina Peterson
WESTSIDE, Iowa - Laurina Peterson, 88, of Westside died Friday at Dension Care Center in Denison, Iowa.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Church in Westside. Burial will be in Westside Cemetery in Westside. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Monday at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison.

Laura Christiansen
DUNLAP, Iowa - Laura Christiansen, 71, of Dunlap died Friday at Dunlap Care Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Denison. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
