Ann H. Krommenhoek
Ann H. Krommenhoek, 87, of Sioux City, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at a Sioux City retirement home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Krishen Persaud, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Christy, Smith & Hockenberry Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Krommenhoek was born Jan. 12, 1910, in Sioux City, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kriss. She married William Krommenhoek Nov. 24, 1928, in Sioux City. He died Sept. 25, 1970, in Sioux City. She was a lifelong Sioux City resident and was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church where she was a charter member of the senior group and a member of Leah Circle.
Survivors include one daughter, Helen Jean Tighe and her husband, Louis, of Lake City, Minn.; two grandchildren, Lou Ann Tighe, and Joseph Tighe; two great grandchildren, one brother, John Kriss and his wife, Helen, of Moscow, Idaho, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and 10 brothers and sisters.
Lona Maye Cook
PIERSON, Iowa - Lona Maye Cook, 73, of Pierson, Iowa, died Monday, Nov. 3, 1997, of injuries received in a traffic accident.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville with the Monsignor Roger Augustine officiating. Cremation will follow the Mass. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee, with a Scripture service at 7 p.m.
Mrs. Cook was born May 17, 1924, in Pierson, the daughter of Ed and Ella (Harm) Herbold. She graduated from Pierson High School. She married Roger Cook on June 23, 1951.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Monte Cook and his wife, Chris, of Colorado; three daughters, Dawn Cook, of Texas, Cindy Rath and her husband, Kelly, of Sioux City, and Amelia Keeth and her husband, Mark, of Colorado; five grandchildren, Steffanye and Beau Albertsen, Karli Cook, and Sara and Aaron Mareau.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Beeson, and a grandchild, Jacob Cook.
Elizabeth Erickson
Elizabeth Erickson, 86, of Sioux City, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 1997, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Casimir Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul-Louis Arts, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at the Larkin Morningside Funeral Home.
Mrs. Erickson was born Aug. 26, 1911, in Sioux City, the daughter of Julius and Agnes (Strozdas) Trasowech. She graduated from East High School. She married Charles Erickson on Oct. 10, 1944, in Sioux City. He died on May 28, 1989, in Sioux City.
She was a lifelong Sioux City resident. She was employed as a bookkeeper at the former Iowa Public Service Co. She was a member of Alphi Phi Chapter of Beta Gigna Phi Sorority, the Floyd Park Bridge Club, the Siouxland Artist Club and St. Casimir Catholic Church. She was an avid flower grower.
Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl A. Erickson of Sioux City; one brother, Leo Tracy of Sioux City; one sister, Emma Smith Mulkey of Sioux City, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, Paul Trasowech.
Alma Burton
Alma Burton, 91, Sioux City, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997 at her residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Blanchard officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in the Bluff View Cemetery in Vermillion, S.D. Visitation will be today from 4 to 9 p.m. at Nelson-Berger Morningisde Chapel with the family present 7 to 9 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Mrs. Burton was born April 29, 1906, to William and Lela (Edlund) Boom in rural South Dakota. She graduated from Centerville High School. She married Everett Burton in South Dakota where they owned and operated Burton's General Store in Meckling for several years. Mr. Burton died May 24, 1970 in Vermillion. She retired in 1971 and moved to Sioux City.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church and was a member of the Meckling, S.D. Birthday Club.
Survivors include one son and his wife, Robert W. and Patricia Arnold of Sioux City; a sister, Elvera Holzerland of Pasco, Wash.; five grandchildren; Joan Cooper, Elizabeth Widman, Kathryn Jones, David Arnold and Mary Ludwig; 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Harry Dale; three brothers, Lawrence, Ed and Raymond; and two sisters, Mable and Emily.
Alice C. Rich
Alice C. Rich, 80, of South Sioux City, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 1997 at a Sioux City nursing home following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Rich was born November 8, 1916 to John and Axcela (Olafson) Bergman in Mountain, N.D. She married Francis M. "Doc" Rich Nov. 4, 1938 in Crookston, Minn. He died Oct. 14, 1979 in Sioux City. She was a longtime resident of South Sioux City.
Survivors include three sons; Bob and his wife Carlene Rich, Chuck and his wife LeAnn Rich, all of Sioux City, Vernon Rich of South Sioux City; a sister Delores Moore of Huntington, W. Va., seven grandchildren and five great granchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers; Cecil, Lloyd and Mike; and a sister, Evelyn.
Pallbearers will be Terry Johnson, Mike Cain, Roy Stansberry, Chuck Rich Jr., Brian Rich Jr. and Bob Rich Jr.
Ethel M. Murray
Ethel M. Murray, 89, of Sioux City, died Nov. 4, 1997, at a local nursing home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Nelson-Berger Northside Funeral Home with Rev. A. T. Washington officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be today 4 to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Murray was born Oct. 28, 1908, to Levi and Molly (Shepard) Potter in Rosalie, Nebraska. She graduated from Rosalie High School. She married Ralph Murray March 4, 1935 at Pender, Nebraska. He died January 1990.
They moved to Sioux City in 1937. She worked at Sioux City Battery Company until it closed. She was receptionist for Dr. Alvin Hendrickson until his retirement.
She was a member of the Sioux City Doll Club.
Survivors include two sons and their wives; Barry and Kathleen of South Sioux City, and James and Sharon of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert and a sister Dede Miller both of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by a son, Donald; a sister, Ruth Rider; four brothers, Hugh, James, John and Joseph.
Pallbearers will be great-grandchildren

Jeannette Williams
Jeannette Williams, 74, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997 at a Sioux City nursing home of Alzheimer's disease.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Private burial services will be held at a later date in Ida Grove, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 9 p.m. today at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.
Mrs. Williams was born Sept. 3, 1923, in South Bend, Ind., to Peter and Helene Hacquebart. She moved to Arthur, Iowa, as a teenager where she graduated from high school in 1940. She married John B. Williams of Arthur on Oct. 15, 1944. He died Aug. 4, 1995 in Sioux City.
She worked for Midwestern Paper Company in Sioux City for many years before moving to Denver, Colo. in 1978. She returned to Sioux City in 1995.
Mrs. Williams was a long-time member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for over 20 years.
Survivors include four daughters and their husbands; Marilyn and Russ Clifford, Cathy and Ken Stueve, all of Sioux City, Susan and Ron Highstreet of Lakewood, Colo ,. and Nancy and Loren Jeffries of Denver, Colo.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ken and Matt Stueve, Russ Clifford, Ron Highstreet and Doug and Milo Bengford.
Gabriel Abell
Gabriel Abell, infant son of Jeffrey and Tonia Abell of Sioux City, was stillborn Monday Nov. 5 at a Sioux City hospital.
Private services were held Thursday at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
Survivors include his parents; and his grandparents, Clarence and Linda Scheelhaase, Walter Rapue and Jan Abell, all of Sioux City.
Nina Kavanaugh Archer
CENTERVILLE, S.D. - Nina Kavanaugh Archer, 71, of Centerville, S.D., formerly of Vermillion, died Wednesday at her home. Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home, Vermillion, is handling arrangements.
Mary Van de Mark
Mary Van de Mark, 79, of Arnolds Park, Iowa, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at a Spirit Lake hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Warner Chapel in Spencer with the Rev. Kim Crummer officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Warner Chapel.
Dale L. Knoff
CASTANA, Iowa - Dale L. Knoff, 73, of rural Castana, Iowa, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at his residence.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Turin. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery in rural Turin. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa, with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m.
Mr. Knoff was born Feb. 10, 1924, at Moorhead, Iowa, the son of Charles and Thora (Kjristensen) Knoff. He attended country schools and the school in Turin.
He married Marlene Lundeen on May 29, 1952, at Ticonic. The couple farmed for 41 years.
He was employed by the ASCS for 17 years, by the Soil Conservation Service for three years and by Monona County as a heavy equipment operator for 12 years. He liked sports, cattle sales and the outdoors. He was affiliated with the Turin United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Kevin, and his wife, Tresa, of Sioux Falls; three daughters and their husbands, Karlyn and Tom Petersen of Sioux Falls, Rhonda and Terry Trube of Canton, S.D., and Brenda and Roger Nemitz of Charter Oak; six grandchildren, Amber Petersen, Austin and Abraham Knoff, Ethan and Grace Trube and Bethany Nemitz; two step-grandchildren, Wendy Ping and Holli Trube; one brother, Everett Knoff of Castana, and one sister and her husband, Virgie and Donald Davis of Turin, and his parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Lundeen of Onawa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ann Sargent
CHEROKEE, Iowa - Ann Sargent, 70, of Cherokee died Thursday at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Quimby Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee.
Eldon H. Simonsen
BRAINERD, Minn. - Eldon H. Simonsen, 72, of Brainerd died Wednesday, November 5, 2997.
Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Park United Methodist Church in Brainerd with Rev. Lawrence Foote officiating. Burial will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery at Camp Ripley with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 255. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd.
Mr. Simonsen was born March 31, 1925, to Hans P. and Gretchen (Carstensen) Simonsen in Merrill, Iowa. He graduated from Merrill High School and Morningside College with a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration. He married Wanda Phillips Reinke June 10, 1954, in Sioux City. He resided in Merrill until 1959 when he moved to Brainerd.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and in the United States Air Force Reserves during the Korean War. He was an honorary life member of American Legion Post 255, a member of the Last Mans Club, Past Commander of American Legion Post 255 and was a Life Member of VFW Post 1647. He had been a member of the Civil Air Patrol and taught aviation classes at Legionville. He coached in the Brainerd Amateur Hockey Association for 10 years. He was also past president of the Quarterback Club.
Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Gary and Debi Reinke of Crestwood, Kentucky; a daughter and her husband, Genelle and Dwight Anton of Apple Valley, Minn.; a brother, Russell Simonsen of Rock Valley, Iowa; a sister, Marjorie Simonsen of Medford, Oregon; four grandchildren, Ryan and Staci Anton and Nicholas and Christopher Reinke.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruth Sallee.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Warner Wede
SUTHERLAND, Iowa - Warner Wede, 65, formerly of Sutherland, Iowa, died in Sun City, Calif.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Warner Funeral Home in Sutherland. There will be no visitation.
