Wilma Byrnes
Wilma Mildred (Zaayer) Byrnes, 87, of Park Rapids, Minn., formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday at Heritage Living Center.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Christy, Smith & Hockenberry Funeral Home.
Dale Davis
Dale Edward Davis, 76, of Des Moines, Iowa, died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, in a Des Moines nursing home after a long illness.
Memorial services will be at noon Monday at Berean Assembly of God Church in Des Moines, with his brother, the Rev. Larry Davis, officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Hills Cemetery.
Mr. Davis was born Sept. 1, 1921, in Creston, Iowa, the son of Ralph E. and Margaret (Davis) Davis. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines and served in World War II as a military policeman.
He married Marilyn Cooper on Nov. 6, 1949, in Spring Valley, Minn.
He located to Sioux City in 1948, where he worked for the William E. Davis Office Equipment Co. and Iowa Public Service Co. He retired from IPS in 1973 due to failing health.
Survivors include four sons, Joel of Sacramento, Calif., Brian and his wife, Pamela of Sergeant Bluff, Craig and his wife, Nancy of Sioux City and Eric of Sioux City; two daughters, Susan and her husband, Randy Richards of Sioux CIty and Carol of Portland, Ore.; three brothers, Elbert of Springfield, Mo., Russell and his wife, Shirley of Des Moines, the Rev. Larry and his wife, Pat of Des Moines; three sisters, Betty and her husband, David Foxworthy of Des Moines, Esther and her husband, Marvin Rapp of Hammond, Wis. and Celesta Miller of Altoona, Iowa; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Earl and James.
Shannon Hogan
Shannon J. Hogan, 18, of South Sioux City died Friday at a Sioux City hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Michael Catholic Church in South Sioux City. Burial will be in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in rural South Sioux City. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday with a Scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m. at the Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City.
Otto Priborsky
Otto A. Priborsky, 67, of McCook Lake, S.D. died Thursday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel with the Rev. A.T. Washington officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a masonic service by Landmark #103 A.M. & A.F. at 7 p.m., all at the funeral home.
John A. Stichnoth
John A. Stichnoth, 74, of Ridgefield, Conn. and North Palm Beach, Fla., and former Sioux City resident, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997, in a Danbury, Conn., hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Church in Ridgefield, with the Rev. Robert P. Morrissey officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being made by the Kane Funeral Home in Ridgefield.
Mr. Stichnoth was born on Sept. 10, 1923, in Stockland, Ill., the son of August J. and Lulu (Laudenschlager) Stichnoth. He was raised in Sioux City.
He was a 1949 graduate of the University of Iowa and a 1951 graduate of the University of Iowa Law School. He joined the New York law firm of Wilkie, Farr and Gallagher. He joined Union Carbide's law department in 1955. He became general counsel in 1976 and served in that position until his retirement in 1987.
He served as chairman of the Committee on Corporate Law Departments and as an officer of the Association of General Counsel. In 1983 he was recognized by the New York State Bar Association as the corporate lawyer of the year. He also served as chairman of the Alternate Dispute Resolution Program of the Center for Public Resources.
He was president of the Lost Tree Club in North Palm Beach from 1995 to 1996 and president of the Waccabuc Country Club in Waccabuc, N.Y. from 1972 to 1973. He served two terms on the Somers, N.Y. school board beginning in 1964 and was town justice in Somers from 1973 to 1974.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, John A., Jr. of Ridgewood, N.J. and Matthew of Morganville, N.J.; two daughters, Susan Brackett of Manhattan, N.Y. and Julie Truelove of Duxbury, Mass.; a sister, Helen Lidstone of Pittsfield, Mass; and 10 grandchildren.

Lyle Booth
CHEROKEE, Iowa - Lyle W. Booth, 76, of Cherokee died Thursday at a Sioux City hospital following a short illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Aurelia, Iowa, with a family prayer service at 9:45 a.m. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee.
Mathew Hamlin
SLOAN, Iowa - Mathew J. Hamlin, infant son of Brenda Hamlin, died Wednesday at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.
Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at the Hite Cemetery in Whiting, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Arrangements handled by the Wood Funeral Home of Sloan.
Helen Husted
BATTLE CREEK, Iowa - Helen Margaret Husted, 81, of Battle Creek, died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, at Morningside Care Center in Ida Grove, Iowa.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, with the Rev. Daniel T. Torkelson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove, to resume one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Mrs. Husted was born Sept. 7, 1916, in Danbury, Iowa, the daughter of John and Minnie (Krueger) Hammer.
She married Wesley W. Husted on April 21, 1936, in Sioux City. The couple farmed in the Battle Creek area for many years, retiring in 1980.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek and the Chat & Sew Club. She enjoyed cooking and baking.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Theonne Rusch Kolls and her husband, LeRoy Kolls of LaQuinta, Calif., Sharon Kay Husted of Ida Grove, and Rhonda and her husband, Chester Lee of Battle Creek; five grandchildren, Ross Rusch, Trisha McCormick, Raquel Mumm, Jayme Bresnahan and Christopher Lee; a great-grandchild; two brothers and their wives, Edwin and Rachel Hammer of Ida Grove, and Lewis and Norma Hammer of Holstein; and two sisters, Della Zahler of Vancouver, Wash. and Doris Regas of Battleground, Wash.

DENISON, Iowa - Ann Lohman, 52, of Denison died Thursday at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Neb.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Denison. Burial will be in Crawford Heights Memory Gardens. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Sunday at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison.
Wilhelmine Ludwigs
LE MARS, Iowa - Wilhelmine M. Ludwigs, 79, of Le Mars died Thursday at Floyd Valley Hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, ELCA in Le Mars. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.
Leone Meyer
MAPLETON, Iowa - Leone M. Meyer, 74, of Mapleton died Friday at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting, Iowa.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Sunday with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a vigil wake service at 7 p.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.
Helen Puhrmann
PAULLINA, Iowa - Helen C. Puhrmann, 87, of Paullina died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, at Wide View Rest Home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church in Paullina, with the Rev. Donald Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in Paullina.
Mrs. Puhrmann was born Jan. 24, 1910, near Archer, Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Sophia (Pederson) Stofferan. She received her education in country school and later graduated from Archer Consolidated School in 1928, and from Iowa State University School of Nursing in 1932.
She married Ernest Puhrmann on Nov. 29, 1933, in Ramona, S.D. The couple farmed northwest of Paullina for 35 years. She worked at the Millies Rest Home in Sutherland, Iowa, Wide View Rest Home in Paullina and Rest Haven Manor in Primghar. The couple retired and moved into Paullina in 1973. He died in April of 1975.
She was known as "Grammy Helen" to the many children she babysat for.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, was active in the Presbyterian Women, holding various offices and was a deaconness and in charge of the Cradle Roll for six years.
Survivors include three sons and their wives, Ronald and Pauline of Havelock, Iowa, Harlyn and Helen of Hager City, Wis. and Bradley and Beck of Paullina; a daughter and her husband, Elaine and Leland Faber of Sheldon, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Mark Puhrman, Darlya Lockwood, Brian Puhrmann, Sara Anderson, Christina Puhrmann, Michael and Daniel Puhrmann, and Crystal and Kelly Puhrmann; four stepgrandchildren, Lila Warman, Suzanne Faber, Alan Housworth and Chad Housworth; seven great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Joe Van Woudenberg
ROCK VALLEY, Iowa - Joe Van Woudenberg, 84, of Rock Valley died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, at Valley Manor.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Reformed Church in Rock Valley, with the Rev. Harlan DeJong officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.
Mr. Van Woudenberg was born Aug. 1, 1913, near Sioux County, Iowa, the son of Henry and Teunie (Verdorn) Van Woudenberg.
He married Anna Noordman on March 28, 1934, in Fairview, S.D. The couple farmed in the Fairview and Inwood area until retiring in 1984 when they moved to Rock Valley. She died Aug. 8, 1995. He moved to Valley Manor on July 7, 1997.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Jerald and Linda of Canton, S.D.; a sister, Marie Middle of Rock Rapids, Iowa; three grandchildren, Jana Woudenberg, Leslie Simons and Scott Breitag; a stepgrandchild, Daniel Wolf; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, Harvey; two brothers, Henry and Richard; and a sister, Elsie Faber.
