Vincent W. Riibe
Vincent W. Riibe, 76, of Sioux City died Friday, April 24, 1998, at his home.
Services will be private. Burial
will be in St. Michaels Cemetery in Hartly, Neb. There will be no visitation. Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Riibe was born March 13, 1922, in Hartington, Neb., the son of Frank and Barbara (Manley) Riibe. He attended Holy Trinity Catholic School in Hartington. He lived in Sioux City from 1939 to 1961 and in Inglewood, Calif. from 1961 to 1988, before returning to Sioux City. He had served in the U.S. Air Force from 1943 to 1946. He was self-employed as an electrical repairman.

Survivors include a sister, Rita Kirchmeier of Sioux City; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Joe, Gene, Patrick, Michael, and Sylvester; and two sisters, Sally Skarnulis and Madalene Jueden.

William E. Craig
William W. Craig, 74, of Sioux City died Thursday, April 23, 1998, at a Sioux City care center following a brief illness.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Glenn Schacht, of Riverside Lutheran Church officiating. American Legion Monahan Post 64 will conducted military rites. Visitation will be from 2 to 8:30 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Berkemier Funeral Home.

Mr. Craig was born Dec. 22, 1923, in Dakota City, the son of William and Stella Craig. He moved to Sioux City with his family as a child and attended Sioux City public schools. He served in the U.S Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

He married Mary Roberta Lester on March 13, 1946, in Albuquerque, N.M. The couple made their home in Sioux City. He was employed with Macks Transfer Company, P.I.E. and Sioux Transportation Company for 45 years as a truck driver.

He was of the Lutheran faith. He was a member of the American Legion Monahan Post 64, Disabled American Veterans Post 54 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1973.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Robert and Lori and Doug and Teresa, all of Portland, Ore.; four daughters, Kathy Williams and Karen Craig, both of Sioux City, Janice Engelkes of Everly, Iowa and Kimberly Craig; three brothers, Floyd of Shady Cove, Ore., Charles of Gervais, Ore. and Richard of Johnson Creek, Penn.; three sisters, Joan Finch of Washegal, Wash., Stella Madsen of Sioux City and Darlyn Collins of Eugene, Ore.; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Danny and Jeffrey; a brother, James; three sisters, Bernita Craig, Betty Martine and Patricia Lucart; and his parents.

Hartley O. Parker
Hartley O. Parker, 73, of Sioux City died Saturday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the funeral home.

Leona M. McCuddin
Leona M. McCuddin, 89, of Sioux City died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at the Indian Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Gerald C. Kapanka officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 9 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mrs. McCuddin was born July 6, 1908, in Hinton, Iowa, the daughter of Claus and Anna (Thiessen) Junck.

She married Orville K. McCuddin on Feb. 12, 1926, in Sioux City. The couple. moved to Sioux City in 1933. She was an Avon representative for 27 years. He died Nov. 20, 1968, in Sioux City.

She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and the President's Club of Avon.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Eldon and Delores of Sioux City and Waldo and Carol of Des Moines; three daughters, Beverly Buddi, Marilyn and her husband Tom Beller and Darlene Mercural, all of Sioux City; 24 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Sidney; a grandson, Michael Thacker; and seven brothers.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Laura G. Eggers
Laura G. Eggers, 78, of Sioux City died Saturday at a Sioux City hospital following a lenghty illness.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church. There will be no visitation. The body has been cremated. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Nam Thi Nguyen
Nam Thi Nguyen, 71, of Sioux City died Saturday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Marsh Rumsey Jr.
Marsh A. Rumsey Jr., 83, of Sioux City died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.
There will be no services. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Larkin Northside Funeral Home. The body will be cremated following the visitation.

Mr. Rumsey was born Aug. 7, 1914, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Marsh A. Sr. and Alva Rumsey. He moved with his family to Sioux City as a child. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II.

He married Frances M. Draper on Jan. 21, 1959, in Elk Point, S.D. He was employed as a maintenance engineer with T.S. Martin Company for 24 years, then as a salesman for Harris Janitor Supply Company for 20 years. In 1975, he started and operated Marsh Supply Company, retiring in 1980.

He was a former member of the Sioux City Men's Bowling Association.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Julie Miller of Sioux City and Marilyn and her husband Larry Russel of South Sioux City; two sons, Marsh A. "Pete" Rumsey III of Sioux City and Ed Redenuis and his wife Penny of South Sioux City; two sisters, Marian and Helen Runsey, both of Green Valley, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Draper; and two sisters, Betty and Alva Rumsey.

Esther Bayles-Truesdell

Esther Bayles-Truesdell, 86, of Sioux City died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at a Sioux City nursing home following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, with the Rev. Marvin Mueller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bayles-Truesdell was born July 17, 1911, in Elgin Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, the daughter of Frederic and Ruby (Albright) Wood.

She graduated from Le Mars High School, Le Mars, Iowa, and attended University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa for three years. She then attended Morningside College, where she received her bachlor of science degree in sociology. She attended the University of South Dakota and received her master's degree in sociology and education in 1958 and her endorsement in guidance and counseling in 1959. She continued graduate work at the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colo. and Iowa State University in Iowa City, where she completed requirements for an endorsement as a school psychologist in Iowa.

She was employed with the Sioux City school district as a teacher and principal for many years, with 27 years at Longfellow Elementary School. She retired in 1976, and was employed with Job Service of Iowa.

She married W. Wallace Bayles in June 1935 in Vermillion, S.D. He died November 1966. She then married Allen Ray Truesdell in March 1977, in Dickenson County, Iowa. He died December 1981.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Mizpah Shrine 13 Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, where she was a past Priestess, Supreme Deputy and Instructor. She was a member and past Matron of the Rose Croix Chapter 400 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She served as a delegate for the National Education Association, the Iowa State Education Association and served on the Sioux City Education Association Board. She was associated with the American Association of University Women, where she held many offices and with Alpha Delta Kappa and Delta Kappa Gamma National Honorary Sororities, where she held various offices.

Survivors include four sisters-in-law, Dorthy Wood of Osceola, Iowa, Eunice Wood-Duncanson of Merced, Calif., Adele Wood of Sioux City and Fleta Williams-Stallworth of Dallas, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Glenn and Paul Wood; and two sisters, Helen Ericson and Clara May Harker.

Memorials in her name may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association Big Sioux Chapter.

Morris J. Scholten
HOSPERS, Iowa - Morris J. Scholten, 74, of Hospers died Friday, April 24, 1993, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at First Christian Reformed Church in Hospers, with the Rev. Duane Tinklenberg officiating. Burial will be in the Hospers Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service today at the church. Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Hospers is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Scholten was born Jan. 14, 1924, in Orange City, Iowa, the son of Lambert and Anna (Ver Hoeven) Scholten. He attended school at Sanborn Christian School, Hull Christian School and Western Christian High School in Hull. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater and was a prisoner of war for five and a half months.

He married Esther Peters Oct. 18, 1945, in Hospers. He worked in the Newkirk Store, Bloemendaal Hatchery and Premium Feeds in Alton, Iowa. In 1957, the couple moved to a farm near Hospers.

He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Hospers, where he served as elder and deacon. He was also a member of the Hospers Christian School Board for many years.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Katie and Harlan Rouse of Hospers; three sons and their wives, Lelan and Arlene of Boyden, Iowa, Arlan and Marcia of Orange City, and Darwan and Janice of Boyden; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Edward of Hull, Bernard of Grand Rapids, Mich., Andrew of Hull, and Jim of Inwood, Iowa; and a sister, Harriet Van Zanten of Doon, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Ruby M. McCarty
HARTLEY, Iowa - Ruby M. McCarty, 77, of Hartley died Saturday at her residence.
Memorial services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hartley. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. A prayer service and visitation will begin at 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Sanborn Funeral Home of Sanborn, Iowa, is in charge of the arrangements.

Elzy G. Parrish
CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa - Elzy G. Parrish, 86, of Correctionville died Sunday at the Correctionville Nursing and Rehab. Center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Correctionville. Burial will be in Kingsley Cemetery at Kingsley, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Earnest-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Harold H.W. Hauschildt
DANBURY, Iowa - Harold Henry William Hauschildt, 80, of Earlham, Iowa, formerly of rural Danbury, died of heart failure Tuesday at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Earlham. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Kuhn Funeral Home of Earlham is in charge of the arrangements.
