Blanche D. Springer, 97, of Sioux City died Thursday at a Sioux City nursing home.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church. Private graveside services will be in Ridge Cemetery in Fremont, Neb. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.
David J. Coury
David J. Coury, 82, of Sioux City died Friday at his home.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. Monday with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and a parish vigil service at 7:30 p.m. at Larkin Northside Funeral Home.

G. Francis Stone, 72, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday; Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.
Clara Wetrosky
LE MARS, Iowa - Clara Wetrosky, 90, of Le Mars, died Thursday Aug., 13, 1998, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's American Lutheran Church, ELCA, in Le Mars with pastor Bert Burwell, AiM officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday with the family present at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.
Mrs. Wetrosky was born Aug. 27, 1907, in Johnson Township, the daughter of August and Katherine (Ohlrichs) Herzberg. She attended country school. She married Gus Wetrosky Jan. 26, 1928, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Johnson Township. She owned and operated Carmen's Dress Shop in Le Mars for several years. He died in 1966. She had been a residen of Plymouth Manor Care Center for the past several years.
She was a member of St. John's American Lutheran Church, ELCA.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Carmen and Wendall Gronemeyer of Lake Wales, Fla.; two sisters, Florence Oltmanns and Geraldine Johnson, both of Le Mars; two sisters-in-law, Leona Herzberg of Le Mars, and Evelyn Taylor of Sioux City; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Croon; and a brother, Elmer Herzberg.
Mildred A. Lawson
SAC CITY, Iowa - Mildred A. Lawson, 71, of Sac City, formerly of Fort Dodge, Iowa, died Tuesday at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, Iowa.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church-Diciples of Christ in Sac City. An Eastern Star service will also be held at the church. Gunderson Funeral Home of Fort Dodge is in charge of the arrangements.
Amanda Roepke
LE MARS, Iowa - Amanda Roepke, 90, of Le Mars died Saturday Aug. 15, 1998, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars with the Rev. Larry Fett officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at rural Hinton, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.
Mrs. Roepke was born June 13, 1908, in Lincoln Township, rural Plymouth County, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Laura (Lang) Luksan. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. She spent her childhood years on the farm and attended rural school. She married Edward Roepke on Jan. 25, 1928, at Trinity Lutheran Church. They farmed near Hinton for 10 years and then south of Kingsley for 40 years. They moved to Kingsley in the late 1970s and to Le Mars in 1990. She has been a resident of Plymouth Manor Nursing Home since November 1993. He died in 1995. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Irmgard Luksan of Le Mars; and several nieces and nephews.
Wilda Schmid
SIOUX RAPIDS, Iowa - Wilda Schmid, 79, of Des Moines, Iowa, formerly of Sioux Rapids, died Friday at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Warner Chapel in Spencer, Iowa. Burial will be in North Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Monday with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Julius Barents
IRETON, Iowa - Julius "Butch" Barents, 79, of Ireton, died unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Reformed Church in Ireton. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Douglas Van Aartsen officiating. Visitation will be Monday with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Ireton.
Mr. Barents was born Oct. 3, 1918, near Larchwood, Iowa, the son of John and Jennie (Levering) Barents. He moved to Ireton where he attended school. He married Ada TenNapel Dec. 12, 1943, at Winnebago, Neb. The couple lived in Ireton where he first was a partner with Pete Lockhorst in the ownership of a portable feed mill business for 16 years. He then worked in long distance trucking. The partnership later opened a Gambles hardware store which switched to the Cotter & Co. True-Value Hardware Store after he bought out the parntership in 1971. He also did electrical wiring in the Ireton area until his retirement. He was an honorary member of the Ireton Fire Department, where he served for 26 years.
Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Larry and Kay Barents, of Bellflower, Calif.; a daughter and her husband, Beverly and Douglas Finch, of LaMirada, Calif.; four grandchildren, Shane Finch, Branden Barents, Landon Finch, and Jennie Finch; a brother, John Barents of Fulda, Minn.; and two sisters, Marie Walraven of Hills, Minn., and Jacoba Nelsen of Arcata, Calif.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerrit and Edward Barents.
Lyle E. Farrens
DECATUR, Neb. - Lyle E. Farrens, 73, of Decatur died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Decatur City Auditorium with the Rev. Judith Clark Wharton officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. Monday with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah, Neb., and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the Auditorium.
Mr. Farrens was born May 5, 1925, in Martin, S.D., the son of Roy E. and Sarah (Schroder) Farrens. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1942. He married Lelah B. Drummond on July 1, 1944, in Tekamah. The couple farmed in rural Decatur. She died in December, 1997. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Decatur.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Lyle "Skip" and Karma Farrens of Decatur; two daughters and their husbands, Jean E. and Jim Morgan of Decatur, and Mary and Lou Jones of Littleton, Colo.; three brothers, Eldon and Merle Farrens of Decatur, and Lynn Farrens of Sunnyville, Calif.; three grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Patricia Sheppard; a grandson, David Culwell; and a brother, Kenneth Farrens.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

Debra Bagdasarian
Debra Rembe Bagdasarian, 42, of Lauderhill, Fla., formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at her home from cancer.
Memorial services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Morningside Lutheran Church with the Rev. Donohue Sarff officiating. Services will also be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Armenian Church in Lauderhill with the Rev. Dr. Zaven Arzoumanian officiating. Burial will be in Lauderdale Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kraeer Funeral Home in Coral Springs, Fla.
Mrs. Bagdasarian was born Nov. 20, 1955, in Sioux City, the daughter of James and Lorna (Hageman) Rembe. She was baptized and confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church. She graduated from East High School in 1974. She attended Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa, and graduated from Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City with a R.N. degree in nursing. She moved to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. in 1981, where she was employed at the Cypress Humane Hospital. She married Keith Bagdasarian on Aug. 8, 1987, and moved to Lauderhill where she was employed at Coral Springs Hospital. She was a member of the Armenian Church in Lauderhill.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Dustin, of Deerfield Beach, Fla., and Kyle at home; a daughter, Taryn, at home; her parents, of Sioux City; three brothers and their wives, Steve and Carol Rembe, Jim, Jr. and Wendy Rembe, and Rick and Shelly Remby, all of Sioux City; four sisters, Sandy and her husband, Kit Curry, of Clackamus, Ore., Deanna Cameron of Sioux City, Lisa Rembe of Cordova, Tenn., and Lori Rembe of Jacksonville, Ala.; paternal grandparents, Louis and Ruth Rembe of Sioux City; and paternal step grandmother, Olivia Wiltgen of Spirit Lake, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Herman and Ella Hageman; and paternal grandfather, Cyril Wiltgen.

Mrs. Springer was born Oct. 30, 1900, in Fremont, the daughter of James and Eleanor (Dowell) Donahue. She graduated from the National Kindergarten College in Evanston, Ill. She was employed by the Fremont Schools as a Kindergarten teacher. She married Paul M. Springer on Aug. 24, 1927, in Fremont. He died July 19, 1975. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a 50-year member of P.E.O. Chapter IL. She was also a member of Questers and TTT chapter AC. She did various volunteer work for many organizations and was an avid antique collector.
Survivors include two sons, Jon Springer and his wife, Lynne of Sioux City, and James Springer of Sparks, Nev.; five grandchildren; and three great-granchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a sister.
Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church or Casa De Paz Retirement Home.
Frances H. Hickel
Frances H. Hickel 97, of South Sioux City died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at a South Sioux City nursing home after a short illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City with the Rev. David F. Liewer, officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mrs. Hickel was born Oct. 6, 1900, in Randolph, Neb., the daugther of Henry and Bernadine (Engelen) Meyer. She attended schools in Randolph. She married Earl V. "Pinkey" Hickel on July 6, 1922, in Papillion, Neb. She moved to South Sioux City in 1934. She was employed at St. Vincent Hospital for several years. He died Sept. 25, 1962, in Sioux City.
She was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in South Sioux City.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Earlyne and Albert Owens of South Sioux City, and Lorraine and Daniel Pallas of McCook Lake, S.D.; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lucille; and a grandson, Rick Owens.
Pallbearers will be Shane Stapleton, Michael, and Steve Owens, Terry Peters, Chuck Bogart, and Tony Jensen.

David J. Coury
David J. Coury, 82, of Sioux City died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, at his home.

Mr. Coury was born Jan. 16, 1916, in Sioux City, the son of James A. and Barbara (Batal) Coury. A lifelong resident of Sioux City, he graduated from Central High School in 1935. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Marcella M. Kashas on Aug. 21, 1948, in Sioux City. He was employed by Swift and Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Swift Employees Retired, Local #71. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, David J. Jr., of Sioux City, and Stephen Coury and his wife, Gail, of Aurora, Colo.; two daughters, Barbara and her husband, Clark Smith of San Rafael, Calif., and Jean Coury of Sioux City; five grandsons, Clark and Corey Smith, and Stephen, Michael, and Zachary Coury; and a sister, Clara Macy, of Denver, Colo.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Michael, Edward, Nicholas, Manuel, and Alfred Coury; and a sister, Edna M. Coury.
Pallbearers will be Clark and Corey Smith, Louis Kober, John Schmitz, Raymond Macy, and Robert Amland.
Tiara Oberreuter
BATTLE CREEK, Iowa - Tiara Lenora Oberreuter, 7-week-old daughter of Steve and Sherri (Johnson) Oberreuter of Battle Creek, died Saturday Aug. 15, 1998, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.
Private family services will be at 2 p.m. today at Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove, Iowa, with the Rev. Jim Tigges officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Danbury, Iowa. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Tiara Oberreuter was born June 24, 1998, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Survivors include her parents; a brother, Tyler, at home; maternal grandparents, Duane and Shirley Johnson, of Ida Grove; paternal grandparents, Irvin and Elleen Oberreuter, of Danbury; maternal great-grandmother, Lenora Burkhart of Smithland, Iowa; and paternal great-grandmothers, Phyllis Christie of Battle Creek, and Anna Oberreuter of Danbury.
She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandparents, Vernon Burkhart and Clarence and Alvena Johnson; and paternal great-grandfathers, Harlan Christie and Joseph Oberreuter.

THURSTON, Neb. - Myron Glenn "Mike" Vraspir, 66, of Thurston died Saturday at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender. Burial will be in the Rosehill cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today at Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender.
Arend Van Otterloo
HULL, Iowa - Arend Van Otterloo, 82, of Hull died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home in Hull.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Reformed church in Hull with the Rev. Carl Klompien officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be after noon today with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.
Mr. Van Otterloo was born Nov. 10, 1915, in Rock Valley, Iowa, the son of John J. and Hester (Vander Bok) Van Otterloo. He was raised in the Rock Valley area and attended the Rock Valley Christian School. In January 1938, he entered barber college in Sioux City. Following his training period, he worked a short time as a barber in Le Mars and then moved to Little Rock where he worked as a barber for 22 months. In January 1941, he purchased the Hull barbering business of John Koele. He married Joyce Van Kley on Sept. 29, 1942, in Rock Valley. He retired in Febuary 1998, due to ill health.
He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Hull where he served as a deacon and church treasurer. In addition to his contributions to Hull as a longtime businessman, he had been a member, treasurer, and secretary of the Hull Businessman's Club, treasurer for the swimming pool fund, and treasurer for the Hull Christian School Board.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters and their husbands, Betty and Adrian Van Engen, and Esther and Cliff Gort, all of Hull, Helen and Dr. Bruce Vander Kooi, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Linda and Dennis Brunsting of Boyden, Iowa; a son and his wife, Donald and Glenda of Sioux Center, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Leonard and Bernice Van Otterloo of Sioux Center; three sisters, Tena and Agnes Van Otterloo, both of Rock Valley, Iowa, and Alice Veltkamp of Hudsonville, Mich.; two sisters-in-law, Magdalena Van Otterloo, and Rose Van Otterloo, both of Hull.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, John, Adam, Herman, Henry, Peter, and Melvin; a sister, Jennie; and an infant son.
Memorials may be directed to Sioux County Hospice.
Rodney L. Rausch
PAULLINA, Iowa - Rodney L. Rausch, 69, of rural Paullina died Saturday at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Paullina. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. today with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in Paullina.
Hazel B. Schubert
HOLSTEIN, Iowa - Hazel Belle Schubert, 94, of Holstein, died Thursday at her daughter's home in Johnston, Iowa.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Holstein. Burial will be in Holstein Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Barker Funeral Home in Holstein.
Jennie Reitsma
SANBORN, Iowa - Jennie Zonnefeld Reitsma, 88, of Sanborn died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, at Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Christian Reformed Church in Sanborn. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Tuesday with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Sanborn Fureral Home.
Mrs. Reitsma was born Dec. 31, 1909, in Hospers, Iowa, the daughter of Bouke and Trientje (Holtrop) Bakker. Her youth was spent in the Sanborn area and she received her education at a country school. She later assisted her sister and was employed in the home of Dr. and Mrs. Brady in Sanborn. She married Garret Zonnefeld on March 9, 1932, in Sanborn. The couple farmed north of Sanborn. He died Nov. 2, 1968. She married Leonard Reitsma on March 19, 1977. He died on May 14, 1983. She moved to the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon on Oct. 21, 1989, and lived there until moving to the Prairie View Nursing Home on Sept. 14, 1995. She was a member of the Sanborn Christian Reformed Church and the Loyal Workers. Her special interests included traveling and crocheting.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Robert and Esther Zonnefeld of Sibley, Iowa, and Garry and Delores Zonnefeld of Sioux Center, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Joyce and Charles Bosma of Ashton, Iowa; a stepson, Rodney Reitsma of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and a stepdaughter, Marlys Wassenaar, of Boone, Iowa; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Frederich and Harriet Bakker of Sanborn; two sisters, Kate Vander Haag of Sanborn, and Gezina Zuiderhof of Zeeland, Mich.; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Bakker of Sanborn.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John and Bert; two sisters, Allie Hoekstra and Edith Van Heuvelen; and two grandsons, Lyle and Calvin Bosma.
Waldo S. Robinson
LYONS, Neb. - Waldo S. "Cap" Robinson, 90, of Lyons died Saturday, Aug. 16, 1998, at the Integrated Health Services in Lyons.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah, Neb. Burial will be in Tekamah Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 5 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until the time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Robinson was born July 29, 1908, in Tekamah, the son of Absolom and Belle (Greenleaf) Robinson. He graduated from Tekamah High School. He married Marietta "Etta Mae" Baker on July 30, 1932 in Lincoln, Neb. He worked as an electrician and owned and operated businesses in Onawa and California, before owning Robinson Electric north of Lyons. He retired in 1997.
Survivors include five sons and their wives, Waldo and Lorraine of San Diego, Calif, Robert and Marian of Lyons, Tom and Elizabeth of Sedelia, Mo., John and Paula of Iowa City, Iowa, and Mike and Cathy of West Point, Neb.; a daughter, Barbara Houck of Corning, Iowa; 21 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a brother, Charles Robinson, and three sisters, Grace Piarce, Fanny Bowlen, and Ellen Eggleston.
