John A. Logan
John A. Logan, 58, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Nativity Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gerald Feierfeil officiating. Graveside services will be Saturday in St. Joseph Cemetery, Parnell, Mo. Visitation will be 3 to 8:30 p.m. today, with a Scripture service at 7 p.m., at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home.

Mr. Logan was born Jan. 20, 1940, in Parnell, Mo., the son of Charles and Mary (Foland) Logan. He was raised in Parnell and worked on a farm. He graduated from Ravenwood High School in Ravenwood, Mo. He served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Vietnam era.

He married Patricia A. Hart on April 23, 1966, in St. Joseph, Mo. He had lived in Omaha, Neb., before moving to Sioux City 26 years ago. He was employed with the railroad in Omaha and then with Xerox as a technical representative for 27 years.

He was a member of Nativity Catholic Church, where he was an usher, and the Men's Club. He was involved in various youth activities.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Greg of Sioux City; three daughters and their husbands, Monica and Matthew Spanke of Denison, Iowa, Karen and Kirk Thompson of Dakota Dunes and Julie and Chris Treadway of Sioux City; a grandson, Andrew Spanke; two brothers and their wives, Francis and Agnes of Kansas City, Mo., and Bill and Ruth of Gowler, Mo.; and numerous nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Johanna Clark
Johanna "Jo" Clark, 94, of Groton, S.D., formerly of Aberdeen, S.D., died Friday at Manor Care Health Services in Aberdeen.
Services were held Wednesday, Aug. 5, at First United Methodist Church in Aberdeen. Burial was in Riverside Memorial Park. Arrangements were under the direction of Miller-Huebl Funeral Home of Aberdeen.

Marie F. Noonan
Marie F. Noonan, 94, of Sioux City died Tuesday at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6:30 to 9 p.m., at Larkin Morningside Funeral Home.

Harry P. Newton
Harry P. Newton, 73, of Sioux City died Tuesday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Darlene J. Potts
Darlene Jane Benton Potts, 81, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at noon Friday at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Alex Washington officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Potts was born April 11, 1917, in Sioux City, the daughter of Howard and Rose (Neilson) Benton. She graduated from Central High School in 1935. She was employed as a senior aid with the Woodbury County Community Action Agency.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Rose Croix Chapter 400 Order of the Eastern Star, Royal Neighbors, Senior Citizen Center and Business Women. She enjoyed reading and collecting stuffed bears.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Howard Guy and Susan of Aurora, Colo.; a daughter, Darla Lynn Potts of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Belden of California; her ex-husband, Merrill Potts; and four cousins.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Harriett Benton Jones.

Nicole M. Middlen
LARCHWOOD, Iowa - Nicole Marie Middlen, 14 year old daughter of Duane and Nancy Middlen of Larchwood, died Monday at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, S.D., of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at United Church of Christ in Larchwood. Burial will be in Larchwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Roste Funeral Home in Larchwood.

Allen D. Van Roekel
SHELDON, Iowa - Allen D. Van Roekel, 47, of Sheldon died Tuesday at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. Burial will be at 12:45 p.m. Friday in Eastlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon.

Anita Vanderheiden
LAUREL, Neb. - Anita Caroline Vanderheiden, 88, of Laurel died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Concordia Lutheran Church in Concord, Neb., with the Rev. Duane Marburger officiating, Burial will be in Laurel City Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Schumacher Funeral Home in Laurel.

Mrs. Vanderheiden was born April 29, 1910, near Laurel, the daughter of Carl and Sadie (Lundstrom) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended rural school near Laurel and Concord High School.

She married Jacob Vanderheiden on Feb. 22, 1941, in South Sioux City. The couple made their home near Laurel.

She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and Women's Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Eldon and his wife, Michelle, and Melvin, all of Laurel; two grandsons, Ben and Seth; and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

Pallbearers will be Roger, Randall and Dean Johnson, LaVerle McDonald, Iner Peterson and Kenny Anderson.

Marion Dale Sr.
MACY, Neb. - Marion Dale Sr., 49, of Macy died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at his residence.
Native American services will be at noon Saturday at the Alfred W. Gilpin Community Building in Macy. Burial will be in Omaha Indian Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender, Neb.

Mr. Dale was born Feb. 16, 1949, in Omaha, Neb., the son of Paul Dale and Susan Fremont.

Survivors include five children, Susan, Marion Jr., David and Stewart Dale and Roman (Dale) Harlan; his mother of Macy; a sister, Gail Dale of Macy; a brother, Rupert Dick; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

William W. Haskell
LAUREL, Neb. - William W. Haskell, 80, of Billings, Mont., formerly of Laurel, died Thursday, July 30, 1998, in Billings.
Services were held Wednesday, Aug. 5, at United Presbyterian Church in Laurel, the Rev. Doug House officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of Schumacher Funeral Home in Laurel.

Mr. Haskell was born Feb. 16, 1918, in Sioux City, the son of Cornelius and Margaret (Tienken) Haskell. He graduated from Laurel High School and attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.

He married Marie Rathmann on Sept. 3, 1983, in Billings. The couple made their home in Billings.

He was a member of United Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder, the Petroleum Club, Elks Club, Delta Epsilon Fraternity and served on the board of Securtiy National Bank.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, John and Jan of Omaha, Neb., and Chuck and Mary of Gering, Neb.; a daughter and her husband, Jean and Chuck Goll of Tekamah, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; a sister, Marie Bakken of Sun City, Ariz.; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Haskell of Sun City; and five stepsons.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel, infant twins, a brother and a sister.

Memorials may be directed to United Presbyterian Church.

ROCK VALLEY, Iowa - Emil Jacobsen, 94, of Rock Valley died Tuesday at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church, rural Sioux Center, Iowa. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.

Florance E. Larson
ALCESTER, S.D. - Florence E. Larson, 94, of Alcester died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, at the Morningside Manor Nursing Home in Alcester.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Alcester. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Alcester Baptist Church. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Wass Funeral Home in Alcester.

Mrs. Larson was born June 16, 1904, near Alcester, the daughter of William and Anna (Behnkey) Finch. She was raised on a farm near Alcester and attended Miller Country School. She then helped on the farm.

She married Orrin Larson on March 5, 1925, in Sioux City. The couple farmed in the Alcester area until 1943, when they moved into Alcester. She had lived in the Village Apartments in Alcester. He died March 11, 1994.

She was a member of Presbyterian Country Church.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Delores and Oliver Anderson of Alcester; a granddaughter, Lorna Peterson; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Ida Cooper of Alcester; and two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Doris and Rolland Larson and Doris and Glenn Larson, all of Alcester.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Hazel A. Lohse
MOVILLE, Iowa - Hazel Alice Lohse, 82, of Moville died Tuesday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville. Burial will be in Westfork Township Cemetery, Climbing Hill, Iowa. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at McCulloch Funeral Home in Moville.

Charlotte E. Brown
MOVILLE, Iowa - Charlotte Eva Brown, 92, of Ottumwa, Iowa, formerly of Moville, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, at the Sunnyslope Care Center in Ottumwa.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Robertson-Jay Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with the Rev. Stephanie Raphael-Nakos officiating. Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery, Pulaski, Iowa. Visitation will begin at noon today, with the family present 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brown was born July 17, 1906, in Moville, the daughter of Jesse Edgar and Adah (Case) Wilkins. She graduated from Moville High School and attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D., and Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.

She married Samuel C. Brown on Aug. 19, 1930, in Moville. She had also lived in Smithland, rural Pulaski, Letts, Salix, Iowa, and moved to Ottumwa in 1976.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, S. Burr of Ottumwa and Craig W. of Bremerton, Wash.; a daughter, Carol J. Lofgren of Arizona City, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers.

Pallbearers will be Michael and Todd Brown, Brock Lofgren, Steve Penny and Jerry Taylor.

Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church or Sunnyslope Care Center.

Mabel Petersen
MAY CITY, Iowa - Mabel Petersen, 89, of May City died Wednesday at Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in May City. Burial will be in Harrison Township Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Warner Funeral Home in Hartley.

ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa - Audrey Jongerius, 71, of Steen, Minn., formerly of Rock Rapids, died Tuesday at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. Friday, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Roste Funeral Home in Rock Rapids.

CHARTER OAK, Iowa - Kathleen Marie Campbell, 46, of Charter Oak died Tuesday at a Omaha, Neb., hospital.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Charter Oak. Arrangements are under the direction of Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute, Iowa.

Lorraine Voss
SIBLEY, Iowa - Lorraine Voss, 76, of Sibley died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, at the Sibley Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Sibley, with the Rev. Timothy J. Hogan officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Walton, Roste and Vogel Funeral Home in Sibley.

Mrs. Voss was born Oct. 22, 1921, near Ashton, Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Caroline (Kolbeck) Seivert. She was raised on the family farm near Ashton and attended St. Joseph's Catholic School. She was employed in Sibley at Thiele's Red Owl Grocery Store.

She married Raymond Voss on June 24, 1941, in Ashton. The couple lived in Spencer, Iowa, briefly, before moving to the Hospers, Iowa, area where they lived for 10 years. They then lived in Granville, Iowa, for two years until moving to a farm near Sibley.

She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening and cooking.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Ed and Claire of Wichita, Kan., Dale and Sandra of Paullina, Iowa, and Steve and Joyce of Sibley; two daughters and their husbands, Janet and Dennis Rose of Minneapolis, Minn., and Sandy and Rick Schmith of Boyden, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Duane Seivert of Sibley; and a sister-in-law, Bernice Seivert of Hartley, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Donald and Harold Seivert.
