Harry P. Newton
Harry P. Newton, 73, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital after being stricken at his residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Satur day at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, with the Rev. David A. Morris of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Monahan Post 64. Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Newton was born Jan. 6, 1925, in Fredericksburg, Va., the son of John A. and Goldie M. (Bobblit) Newton. He moved to Sioux City in 1937.

He married Wilma R. Barr on Nov. 7, 1942, in South Sioux City.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines and New Guinea. His awards and decorations include the Purple Heart Medal.

He was employed as a machinist for 45 years, retiring from All Power Inc. in 1987.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and River City Anglers. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert and his wife, Beverly, of Sioux City and William of Corning, Calif.; two daughters and their husbands, Kay and Don Hamilton and Rose and John Perry, all of Sacramento, Calif.; a brother, Eugene of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nine nephews; two nieces; a brother-in-law; and a sister-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William.

Pallbearers will be William, Wesley, John and Dick Newton, Darin Brant, Mike Carter and Mike Hamilton.

Marie F. Noonan
Marie F. Noonan, 94, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Paul Louis Arts officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 9 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Morningside Funeral Home.

Mrs. Noonan was born Feb. 4, 1904, in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of James P. and Martha (Cooney) O'Donnell. She came to Sioux City in 1923, from Iowa City, Iowa.

She married Garland "Patsy" Noonan on Aug. 6, 1946, in Chicago. He died Sept. 14, 1983, in Sioux City.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Parish Rosary Club.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, William, Joe and Leonard O'Donnell; and three sisters, Helen Thompson, Agnes "Red" Smith and Katheryn Beecher.

Pallbearers will be Vince Henrichsen, Tim Azure, Burdette Strom, Carrie Azure, Brenda and Kristi Henrichsen.

Hazel A. Lohse
MOVILLE, Iowa - Hazel Alice Lohse, 82, of Moville died of heart disease Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville, with the Rev. Michael Kroona officiating. Burial will be in Westfork Township Cemetery, Climbing Hill, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of McCulloch Funeral Home in Moville.

Mrs. Lohse was born June 23, 1916, in Murray, Neb., the daughter of Roy Allen and Sarah Grace (Waddell) Spangler. She graduated from from Moville High School.

She married John G. Lohse on Nov. 23, 1935, in Dakota City. He died October 1989. She had lived in the Moville, Climbing Hills and Hornick, Iowa areas. She was employed with Sioux City Stationary for several years.

She was a member of Trintiy Lutheran Church, Senior Companion Program and Climbing Hill Garden Club. She was a former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Climbing Hill and its ladies groups. She was also active in the Senior Center at Moville.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis A. Hayworth of Sioux City and Norma and her husband, Nick Kohlhof, of Climbing Hill; a son and his wife, John and Brenda of Sioux City; eight grandchildren, Brad and Kurt Hayworth, Angie Van Voorst, Christine Lohse, Robin Vaughan, Vic and Ken Kohlhof and Dar Raye Hunwardsen; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Kenneth and Linval Spangler.

Mabel Ogburn
PONCA, Neb. - Mabel Ogburn, 90, of Ponca died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Homer United Methodist Church in Homer, Neb., with the Rev. Michael Anderson officiating. Graveside services will be at noon Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City.

Mrs. Ogburn was born Sept. 1, 1907, in Dixon County, Neb., the daughter of Frank and Emma Morgan. She attended school through the ninth grade in Martinsburg, Neb. She moved with her family to Homer, where she graduated from high school.

She married Ralph Ogburn of Homer, in 1930. He died in 1957, in Homer. Following his death, she lived in California for one year before returning to Homer in 1959. She was employed with Montgomery Wards and Sears in Sioux City. She retired in 1978, from the State of Nebraska Nutritional Program with the Social Services Department. She moved to Ponca in 1979.

She was a member of Homer United Methodist Church and continued her church activities in Ponca.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Raymond and Judy of Grand Junction, Colo.; two grandchildren, Scott and Angela Ogburn; two stepgrandsons, Philip and Nathan Strouse; a brother and his wife, Robert Ellis and Cora Morgan of Sacramento, Calif.; and a sister, Alice Shearer of Whittier, Calif.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Forest, Art and Harold Morgan; two sisters, Fannie Jacobsen and Ethel Wilcox; and a grandson, Ralph Ogburn.

Kathleen M. Campbell
CHARTER OAK, Iowa - Kathleen Marie Campbell, 46, of Charter Oak died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Neb., following a brief illness.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Charter Oak, with the Rev. Richard Ball officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute, Iowa.

Mrs. Campbell was born Dec. 28, 1951, in Denison, Iowa. She graduated from Charter Oak-Ute High School in 1970. She was employed at the Garden of Ute and as a bartender at Sally's for many years. She enjoyed gardening and horseback riding.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Randy and Fabiana of Vista, Calif.; a daughter, Jodi Campbell of Charter Oak; two grandchildren, Tyler and Nathan Campbell; two brothers, Terry and Bryan Rude, both of Ute; her parents, Dorothy Rude and Clayton Rude and his wife, Nadene, all of Ute; and a special friend, Larry Kragel of Charter Oak.

Clyde L. Buchman
SIBLEY, Iowa - Clyde L. Buchman, 94, of Sibley died Thursday at the Sibley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, Iowa. Burial will be in Holman Township Cemetery, Sibley. Visitation will be 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley.

Clara Ladehoff
DENISON, Iowa - Clara Ladehoff, 85, of Denison died Thursday at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church in Deloit, Iowa. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery, Denison. Visitation will be after 7 p.m. today at Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison.

Vera M. Lesenyie
ONAWA, Iowa - Vera M. Lesenyie, 82, of Onawa, formerly of Gary, Ind., died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, at the Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Frank Nemmers officiating. Burial will be Monday in Calvary Cemetery, Portage, Ind. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Mrs. Lesenyie was born April 29, 1916, in Chesterton, Ind., the daughter of Hiram and Gertrude (Drake) Wells. She attended school in Chesterton, graduating from high school in 1934.

She married Julius Lesenyie in 1941, in Gary, Ind. The couple made their home in Gary. He died March 13, 1970, in Gary. She moved to Onawa in 1986.

She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and Rosary Society in Onawa.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Robert and Lois of Onawa; two granddaughters, Robin Plagge and Janet Shulenberger; two great-grandsons; a sister, Geraldine Rewerts of Elk Grove, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

Margaret A. Oldenkamp
SANBORN, Iowa - Margaret A. Oldenkamp, 66, of Sanborn died Thursday at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Christian Reformed Church in Sanborn. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Saturday, with the family present 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, at Sanborn Funeral Home.

Edwin J. Schlesser
STRUBLE, Iowa - Edwin J. "Ed" Schlesser, 73, of rural Struble died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa, following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Struble, with the Rev. Timothy Friedrichsen officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a rosary at 3 p.m. and a Scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Mr. Schlesser was born Aug. 13, 1924, near Struble, the son of John and Julia (O'Hara) Schlesser. He attended Sherman Township rural school and Maurice (Iowa) High School.

He farmed with his brother in Sioux County, near Struble.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and volunteered for numerous church duties. He enjoyed fishing and raising cattle.

Survivors include two brothers, Milo and his wife, Marcella, of Maurice and Jack of rural Struble; two sisters and their husbands, Kathleen and John Mertes of Merrill, Iowa, and Mary and Lloyd Vander Molen of rural Le Mars; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Regina Raynor; and a niece and nephew.

Pallbearers will be Tom and David Schlesser, Mike Vander Molen, Ronald Raynor, Kenny and Doug Mertes.
