Louise Husby
Louise Marie Husby, 87, of Coralville, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died Friday, Aug. 7, 1998, at Lantern Park Care Center in Coralville after a long illness of colon cancer.
Private services will be held at a later date at the George Gay Funeral Home and Crematorium, with Sister Agnes Giblin officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City.
Mrs. Husby was born Nov. 21, 1910, in Jefferson, S.D., the daughter of Michael and Cecelia (Pomerico) Brienzo. She graduated from Jefferson High School. She married Harold E. Husby on Oct. 22, 1944, in Sioux City. He died in 1995.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Jerry and Sue Husby of Iowa City, Iowa.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Fred and Al Brienzo; and a sister, Lillian Brienzo.
Memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.
Marie Vaa
Marie Vaa, 82, of Sioux City, died Thursday at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Christian Reformed Church. Burial will be in Memorial Parke Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Marie F. Noonan
Marie F. Noonan, 94, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Paul Louis Arts officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation was Friday. Larkin Morningside Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Noonan was born Feb. 4, 1904, in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of James P. and Martha (Cooney) O'Donnell. She came to Sioux City in 1923, from Iowa City, Iowa.
She married Garland "Patsy" Noonan on Aug. 6, 1946, in Chicago. He died Sept. 14, 1983, in Sioux City.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Parish Rosary Club.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Kathy Henrichsen.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, William, Joe and Leonard O'Donnell; and three sisters, Helen Thompson, Agnes "Red" Smith and Katheryn Beecher.
Pallbearers will be Vince Henrichsen, Tim Azure, Burdette Strom, Carrie Azure, Brenda and Kristi Henrichsen.
Margaret A. Oldenkamp
SANBORN, Iowa - Margaret A. Oldenkamp, 66, of Sanborn died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Christian Reformed Church in Sanborn. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. today, with the family present 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, at Sanborn Funeral Home.
Mrs. Oldenkamp was born March 28, 1932, near Sheldon, Iowa, the daughter of Bert J. and Agnes (Hofman) Solsma. She was raised in the Sheldon area and attended Sanborn Christian and Sheldon Christian Schools.
She married Gilbert Oldenkamp on Feb. 8, 1950, in Sheldon. The couple farmed near Primghar, Iowa, for seven years and then farmed near Sanborn for 37 years. They retired and moved into Sanborn in 1993.
She was a member of Sanborn Christian Reformed Church, Ladies Aid, Calvinettes, Daily Vacation Bible School, Bible study groups and Farm Bureau. She served as chairperson for World Home Bible League and on the board of Iowa Right to Life, Midwest Evangelism. She also participated in Interfaith Community Bible Studies. She enjoyed ceramics, craft work and porcelain dolls.
Survivors include her husband; two sons and their wives, Bob and Linda of Sheldon and Gary and Sue of Sioux Falls, S.D.; three daughters and their husbands, Carol and Cork Bootsma of Sanborn, Mary and Darwin Beltman of Sibley, Iowa, and Sherri and Bruce Keizer of Sioux City; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ben Solsma of Bellflower, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Ruth M. Haugen
MOVILLE, Iowa - Ruth Mabel Haugen, 83, of Moville died Thursday at Kingsley Nursing and Rehab in Kingsley.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Moville United Methodist Church in Moville. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at McCulloch Funeral Home in Moville.
Whelma M. Schmidt
STORM LAKE, Iowa - Whelma Marie Schmidt, 86, of Storm Lake died Friday Aug. 7, 1998, at the Buena Vista County Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake with the Rev. Duane Queen officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Omaha, Neb. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Monday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fratzke Funeral Home in Storm Lake.
Mrs. Schmidt was born Oct. 23, 1911, in Battle Creek, Iowa, the daughter of William and Anna (Brosamle) Lampe. She graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1929, and attended business school in Sioux City. She returned to Battle Creek during the Depression and worked in retail until 1934. During that time she was an active member of the Presbyterian Church and participated in choir, Sunday school and other church programs. She married Magnus Hansen on May 27, 1934, in Schleswig, Iowa. The couple lived in Waterloo, Neb. until moving to Omaha in 1944. He died in July 1961.
She worked as an assistant buyer for a ladies fashion store in Omaha and later in the credit department of Sears Roebuck and Company. She married Fred C. Schmidt on Nov. 10, 1963. They traveled extensively and were active members of the Storm Lake Camera Club. He died in 1976. She was a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake and enjoyed sharing presentations of her many travel photos with residents of area nursing homes.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Fred and Barbara Hansen of Clearwater, Fla.; three grandchildren, Chrystal Stickney, Susan Clay, and Diana Hansen; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Wesley Lampe of Petersburg, Va.; a sister, Anna Belle Wacker of Bellevue, Iowa; two stepdaughters, Esther James and Iris Ramsey, both of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; five step grandchildren; nine step great-granchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Hagerstrand.
A memorial fund has been established.
Allen Van Roekel
SHELDON, Iowa - Allen D. Van Roekel, 47, of Sheldon died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon.
Memorial services were held Friday. Sheldon Funeral Service of Sheldon was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Van Roekel was born Oct. 8, 1950, in Sheldon, the son of Albert and Albertha (Gesink) Van Roekel. He grew up in the rural Sheldon area. He attended the Sheldon Christian Grade School, Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa, Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, for two years, and Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business.
He married Deanne Van Heuvelen on July 15, 1977, in rural Hospers, Iowa. They lived in the Sheldon area where he worked for Sheldon Feed and Supply for several years. He was presently employed at the Midwest Farmer's Coop of Sheldon. He was a member and former deacon of the First Christian Reformed Church of Sheldon and was currently serving as a board member for the Sheldon Christian Grade School. He enjoyed camping.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Andrew J., Matthew B., Brandon L., and Christopher A. all of Sheldon; his parents; a brother and his wife, Wayne and Marsha Van Roekel of Sanborn, Iowa; his father-in-law, Ben Van Heuvelen of Hospers; and many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Margaret Van Heuvelen.
Wilma A. Karlson
ONAWA, Iowa - Wilma A. Strider Karlson, 73, of Onawa died Friday at Burgess Memorial Health Center in Onawa.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa. Burial will be in the Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.
Susan Boysen
ARTHUR, Iowa - Susan Kay Boysen, 42, of Arthur died Thursday at Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove, Iowa. Burial will be in Hayes Township Cemetery in rural Arthur. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 3 to 8 p.m. at Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove.

SIBLEY, Iowa - June H. Koopman, 79, of Sibley, died Thursday at her home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Sibley with the Rev. Howard Vrankin officiating. Burial will be in Holman Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Walton, Roste, and Vogel Funeral Home in Sibley.
Ferdinand S. Bogner
CROFTON, Neb. - Ferdinand Siegfried Bogner, 88, of Crofton died Thursday at Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, S.D.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Rose of Lima Church in Crofton. Burial will be in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 9 p.m. Monday with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. and a rosary at 8 p.m. at Wintz Funeral Home in Crofton.

ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa - Evelyn Hunt, 82, of Rock Rapids died Friday at the Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital in Rock Rapids.
