William R. Curry
William R. Curry, 35, of South Sioux City, died Thursday at his residence.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the funeral home.

James Vance Summerlin
James Vance Summerlin, 78, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1998, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Services will be held privately by the family. His body was cremated. Miller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Summerlin served in the United States Air Force during World War II.

He married Beverly Seaton in Sioux City in 1944. They made their home in Sioux City. He worked at Knapp and Spencer. His latest employment was at Knoefler Chevrolet.

He enjoyed football, gardening and flowers.

Survivors include his wife, four sons, David, Russell, Douglas and Lance; four daughters, Rosemary, Myra, Debborah and Teresa; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Charlotte Thayer
Charlotte Lorraine Thayer, 79, of Sioux City died Thursday at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Morningside Church of Christ. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 3 p.m., at Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Sherry L. Thompson
Sherry L. Thompson, 58, of Sioux City died Thursday at her residence.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Christy-Smith Funeral Home, Morningside Chapel. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Alice H. Arnold
Alice H. Arnold, 76, of Sioux City died Friday; Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Susan H. Smith
Susan H. Smith, 84, of Sioux City died Friday; Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Charles Elwell
DENISON, Iowa - Charles Elwell, 82, of Denison died Friday at Eventide Nursing Home in Denison.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Charter Oak. Burial will be in the Charter Oak Cemetery. Visitation will begin 3 p.m. Sunday at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison.

Mr. Elwell was born Oct. 17, 1916 in Marshal, Minn., the son of Ralph and Hattie (Meyers) Elwell. He received his education in various rural schools near his home.

He married Arlene Walter on Feb. 22, 1939. They farmed north of Manilla. They moved to a farm west of Denison in 1958, moving to Charter Oak in 1978. They lived in Charter Oak for 15 years before moving to Denison. Along with farming, he worked for Crow Seed Corn Company.

He enjoyed telling jokes, playing cards and socializing.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Wayne and his wife Joann of Charter Oak, Jim and his wife Roberta of Jefferson, S.D., and Dennis of Lantana, Fla.; two daughters and their husbands, Colleen and Delbert Dent of Phoenix, Ariz., and Linda and Lyle Nordby of Irwin; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruby Brue of Audubon, Iowa, Ruth Elsberry of Devils Lake, N.D., and Doris Hauser of Mason City, Iowa.

Elmer Friedrichsen
PAULLINA, Iowa - Elmer W.D. Friedrichsen, 82, of Paullina died Friday at the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Zion United Church of Christ in Calumet, Iowa. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery at Calumet. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Monday at the church.

Esther Mae Glasscock
OSMOND, Neb. - Esther Mae Glasscock, 96, of Randolph, Neb., died Thursday at Osmond General Hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Randolph. Burial will be in the Randolph Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home in Randolph.

Ina Viola Johnson
VERMILLION, S.D. - Ina Viola Johnson, 86, of Vermillion, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998, at Sioux Valley Vermillion Care Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Church of Christ in Vermillion. Burial will be in Bluff View Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 6 to 7 p.m. and a Rebekah Service at 7 p.m., at the Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home.

Mrs. Johnson was born Sept. 9, 1912, in Vermillion, the daughter of Lee and Anna Mae (Anglin) Chaney. She graduated from Vermillion High School in 1929. She worked in a Vermillion bakery and was a seamstress and homemaker.

She married Harold T. Johnson on Oct. 5, 1929, in Vermillion. He died Jan. 12, 1963.

She was a member of Vermillion United Church of Christ, Vermillion Senior Citizens Center, Vermillion Rebekahs, Royal Neighbors and was a church ladies aide.

She served as counselor on the United Nations Pilgrimage bus tour in 1970.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Warren and Pat of Madison, S.D., and Russell and Marjorie of Vermillion; one daughter and her husband, Janette and Lyle Hackney of Jackson, Neb.; one sister, Shirley Odor of Warren, Ore.; 22 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Leroy, Delbert and one infant.

Rose Jane Johnson
MAPLETON, Iowa - Rose Jane Johnson, 81, of Mapleton died Thursday at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton. Burial will be in the Center Cemetery in Castana, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Carmen Keim
DENISON, Iowa - Carmen Keim, 83, of Denison died Friday at Eventide Lutheran Home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Burial will be at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison.

Minnie Rath
ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa - Minnie Rath, 102, of Rock Rapids died Friday at the Rock Rapids Health Centre.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 8 p.m., at the Roste Funeral Home in Rock Rapids.

Arlo E. Rozell
AKRON, Iowa - Arlo E. Rozell, 75, of Akron died Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital after a lengthy illness.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron with the Rev. Allen Bidne officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will begin 10 a.m. Sunday, with the family present 6 to 7 p.m., at Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mr. Rozell was born Oct. 10, 1923, in Plymouth County, rural Akron, the son of Arthur and Mamie (Tucker) Rozell. He attended Breezy Hill country school. He worked many years with his father in Rozell's Harness Shop and took over the business after his father died. He went back to farming and worked many years at Nielsen Co-op Service Station, the Standard Station and Dirks Motor Company.

He married Wilma Reemts on July 21, 1944. They moved to the family farm in Union County. She died in July 1993.

He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna and her husband Al Hoepner of Hancock, Iowa; two sons, Dennis and David and his wife Susie all of Akron; four grandsons, Shane and Devin Hoepner of Hancock and Joshua and Jeffrey Rozell of Akron; two sisters, Mona Smith of Akron and Merva Hartman of Hawarden; two brothers, Alva and Arvil of Le Mars.

He was preceded in death by his mother; three brothers, Arthur, Arden and Archie; and five sisters, Mabel Willer, May Neunaber, Mary Moss, Marie Smith and Muriel Kruger.

Agnes Sorenson
SPENCER, Iowa - Agnes Sorenson, 93, of Spencer died Friday at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Langdon, Iowa. Visitation will begin after 2:30 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, at the eska was born Jan. 18, 1953, at Glasgow, Mont., the son of Robert and Anita (Sorkness) Yeska. He graduated from Sioux City East High School in 1971. He served in the United States Navy from 1972 to 1974.

He married Robin Stamps on May 21, 1979, in Sioux City. They lived in Sioux City before moving to Norfolk in 1981. He had worked for Unisys Computer Company and was presently working at Norfolk Iron and Metal.

Servivors include his wife; two daughters, Melissa and Amanda, both of Norfolk; his mother of Sioux City; his father of Durant, Okla.; two brothers, Robert Jr. and William, both of Sioux City and one sister, Marie Yeska of Sioux City.

MaDonna Ryan
MaDonna Ryan, 74, Okoboji, Iowa died Thursday.
