K. Louise Nienhuis
K. Louise (Anderberg) Nienhuis, 89, formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, in Los Angeles, Calif., following a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Graceland Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Leo Endel of Southern Hills Baptist Church officiating. There will be no vistation. Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Nienhuis was born Jan. 9, 1909, in North Dakota, the daughter of Axel and Annie (Jones) Anderberg. She lived in Sioux City from the early 1920s until 1937.
She was employed in the office of Davidson's Department Store. She moved to California in 1937.
She married Herman J. Nienhuis in 1945 in California. He died Sept. 12, 1992, in California.
Survivors include a niece, Shirley (DeKay) Christensen of Sioux City, and a nephew, Robert DeKay of Flordia.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter H., Edwin and William T. DeKay.
Julie M. Clemon
Julie Mae Clemon, 26, of Mission Hill, S.D., formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Yankton, S.D.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Merrill Muller, chaplain of the 185th Iowa Air National Guard, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites conducted by American Legion Monahan Post 64 and the 114th South Dakota Air National Guard honor guard unit. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Ms. Clemon was born Oct. 9, 1971, in Sioux City. She graduated from Hinton (Iowa) High School in 1990 and attended Mount Marty College.
After high school, she moved to Yankton and 18 months ago she moved to Mission Hill 18.
She was employed with Hastings Filters in Yankton for five years.
She was a staff sergeant with the 114th South Dakota Air National Guard, Mission Support Flight for six years, as a military personnel specialist.
Survivors include her father and his wife, Warren and Debbie Clemon of Sioux City; her mother and her husband, Shirley and Jeff Helm of Hinton; two sisters, Lisa and her husband, Randy Raskin, of Sergeant Bluff and Robyn Clemon of Sioux City; two stepbrothers, Brent and Bryan Smith, both of Sioux City; paternal grandmother, Eleanor Clemon of Sioux City; maternal grandmother, Caroline Groendyk of Sioux City; and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Lyle Clemon, and maternal grandfather, Sebastian Groendyk.
Pallbearers will be members of the 114th South Dakota Air National Guard honor unit.
The Rev. T. Anderson
The Rev. Theodore Jordan "Ted" Anderson, 77, of Sioux City died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Marvin Mueller, interim pastor of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, and the Rev. Krishen Persaud officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Sergeant Floyd Post 1973. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
The Rev. Mr. Anderson was born Dec. 11, 1920, in Akron, Iowa.
He graduated from Central High School in Sioux City in 1940. He attended the University of Nebraska and graduated from Morningside College. He attended Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn., and was ordained in 1961 in the American Lutheran Church.
He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army, 14th Armored Division, during World War II in the European Theater and at the Battle of the Bulge. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal.
He married Shirley E. Beckman on July 24, 1948, in Sioux City.
He served parishes in Iowa and Minnesota, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Gary and Patricia of Sioux City and Eric and Rachel of Rumney, N.H.; three daughters and their husbands, Karin and Anthony Rhodes of Bankok, Thailand, Kristine and Daniel Klein of Minneapolis, Minn., and Judy and Craig Cook of Waconia, Minn.; three sisters, Carol and her husband, Jack Ferguson, of Greenville, Texas, Dorothy Niebaum of Sioux City and Betty Ross; a brother and his wife, Harold Jordan and Jeanie of San Jacinto, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, Aaron and Angela Sandage, Sarah Anderson, Jeremy Asmussen, Nicole, Jason and Jesse Rhodes, Asha and Emily Klein and Vladik, Victoria and Maria Cook; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mary Jordan; his adopted parents, Bert and Esther Anderson; a brother, Bill Bartels; and a sister, Hope Jahn.
Pallbearers will be Gary and Eric Anderson, Anthony Rhodes, Daniel Klein, Craig Cook, Aaron Sandage and Jeremy Asmussen.
Margaret Stulich
Margaret Stulich, 82, of Sioux City died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at her residence.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Paul-Louis Arts officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Morningside Funeral Home.
Mrs. Stulich was born July 1, 1915, in Sioux City, the daughter of William and Frances (Kozel) Petrucka.
She married Harold C. Stulich in September 1939, in Ponca, Neb. He died Jan. 25, 1976, in Sioux City.
She was employed in the receiving room at Martin's Department Store and in the return products department at Nu-Way Drug Store, retiring in 1980.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was an active volunteer for the Catholic Women League Bargin Center, the Soup Kitchen and the Senior Citizen Center.
Survivors inlcude a son and his wife, Robert and Patricia Stulich of Park Rapids, Minn.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Frank Petrucka, and a sister, Katherine Holmes.
Memorials in her name may be directed to either the Queen of Peace or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
John Handy
SPENCER, Iowa - John Handy, 90, of Spencer died Tuesday at Spencer Municipal Hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Warner Chapel in Spencer. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
Laurel F. Sharar
STORM LAKE, Iowa - Laurel F. "Mike" Sharar, 89, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, died Monday at Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls following a brief illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls. Burial will be in Alden Cemetery at Alden, Iowa. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and an Elk Lodge memorial service at 7 p.m., at Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.

SHELDON, Iowa - John H. Kreykes, 100, of Sac City, Iowa, formerly of Sheldon, died Monday at Parkview Care Center in Sac City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Reformed Church in Sheldon. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.
Irvin Harm Sr.
DENISON, Iowa - Irvin Harm Sr., 79, of Denison died Tuesday at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Burial will be in Crawford Heights Memory Gardens. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Thursday at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison.
Paul Campbell
ORANGE CITY, Iowa - Paul Campbell, 69, formerly of Orange City died Monday at Mary Greeley Memorial Hospital in Ames, Iowa.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
Mavis M. Kirkpatrick
STORM LAKE, Iowa - Mavis M. Kirkpatrick, 72, of Storm Lake died Monday at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Fratzke Funeral Home of Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Leone Van Es
HAWARDEN, Iowa - Leone Van Es, 69, of Hawarden died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden, with the Rev. Timothy Solberg, of American Lutheran Church, officiating. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service.
Mrs. Van Es was born June 26, 1928, in Tamarack, Minn., the daughter of Walter and Ruth (Mapes) Nelson.
She married Kenneth Anderson on June 11, 1949, in Tamarack. The couple lived in Minnesota and Illinios. He died June 23, 1968.
She moved to Hawarden five years ago.
Survivors include three sons, Steven Anderson and his wife, Candy, of Frankfort, Ill., Michael Anderson and his wife, Brenda, of Martinez, Ga., and Duane Anderson; a daughter and her husband, Lynn and Ray Barriball of Flossmoor, Ill.; a sister and her husband, Darlene and Milo McPherson of Hawarden; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Nelson, and a sister, Ilo Anderson.
Agnes Ruden
REMSEN, Iowa - Agnes Ruden, 88, of Remsen died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa, following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, with the Rev. Richard Remmes, of Marcus, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a rosary at 3 p.m. said by the Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters of American and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.
Mrs. Ruden was born Sept. 20, 1909, in Griswold, Iowa, the daughter of John and Dorothea (Deere) Crawford.
She was raised in Griswold and graduated from Griswold High School in 1927. She attended Mercy Hospital School in Council Bluff, Iowa, graduating in 1930, as a registered nurse.
She married Cecil Krohn on June 19, 1934, in Atlantic, Iowa, where they made their home. In 1936 they moved to Adair, Iowa; in 1942 they moved to Odebolt, Iowa, and in the fall of 1942 they moved to Remsen. He died July 30, 1947.
She married Edmund Ruden on June 2, 1948, in Remsen, where they made their home. He died Nov. 2, 1992.
She was employed as a registered nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa, from 1943 to 1967 and with Bob's Food Market in Remsen for several years in the mid 1940s. She was employed with Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen from 1967 until her retirement in 1971. She entered Heartland Care Center in June 1995.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of America, the Christian Mothers and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Survivors include three daughters, Rosy and her husband, Manfred Schmidt, of Remsen and Patricia Brady and Celine and her husband, John Pedersen, all of Marcus; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a brother and his wife, Cletus and Ethel Crawford of Apache Junction, Ariz.; and a sister and her husband, Mary and Bob Dunn of San Jose, Calif.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Crawford; a sister, Rita Workman; and a great-grandson.
Wayne R. Caruth
HINTON, Iowa - Wayne R. Caruth, 68, of rural Hinton died suddenly Tuesday.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Graceland Cemetery at Webster City, Iowa. Visitation will be from noon to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
